Chapter 142: Another way to exit part 3

It was suddenly, and very, very powerful. The beam had a size even bigger than Casper imagined, and it was several times more powerful than the one that the Princess had made to put an end to the Midwest battle.

The shot made all the Search block’s floor tremble, which caused Casper and Olaf to lose their balance and fall.

The energy beam was super hot, just as Alfar supposed it would be. That place got several times as hot as a steam room in a matter of seconds. Even breath inside there was an unbearable experience, and both of them felt suffocated, their skin seemed to be about to melt, and they needed to search on their clothes to see if some part wasn’t burning.

When it finished, the environment got better, but not as it was before, of course.

In the place that the barrel was pointing, a huge hole, with about three to four meters of diameter, was opened on the floor.

It was inclined, but not too much that someone would need to slip through it to descend, it was just some degrees inclined.

"Why focus on an escape just towards the surface, if we can aim to the ground? I mean, that’s like an apartment. Our ground is the ceiling to another floor. Below turns into the surface as well!" He felt like a genius because of his idea, but he couldn’t lose more time being proud of himself.

Casper and Alfar looked at each other. The soldier shrugged, glancing back and seeing that the Ridires were already entering into that block.

He stepped near the edge of the hole, looking down there, then just jumping.

Alfar, who had not the same boldness as Casper, needed to wait some time to gather courage. His heart was racing so fast in his chest that he was feeling a bit sick.

"Coward!" Deamhan suddenly screamed in his mind, and all his body shivered, making him lose balance and fall headlong into the hole.

"You son of a..." Before he could finish, his body was already on free fall and he chose to shut his mouth and finish his cursing inside his head.

As he was not prepared, Alfar couldn’t adjust his body in the right manner, so he was spinning in the air.

As long as his speed increased, it got even faster, and he wasn’t feeling too well. He couldn’t take control again.

The fall inside the hole lasted for several minutes until they got out through the ceiling of the floor below. Once that claustrophobic scenario was left behind and they were falling in an open "sky" it was easier to bear that situation.

That is, at least for the White warrior.

Casper knew how to make huge falls on the sky. As military, he needed to train parachute jump, and he could pull through something like that.

Alfar had started it in the wrong way, to begin with, so he was in trouble.

The soldier looked up to see how he was doing, and his heart nearly stopped when he saw his partner spinning in free fall.

"Damn it! If he keeps falling like that, he will get in trouble! One of the worst things to happen when doing it is starting to spin that fast in middle-air!"

The soldier was with his legs and arms more opened, so his speed was lower than Alfar’s.

"He will not do it alone! I need to stop him somehow..." Casper tried to get ready to close in. He needed to catch Alfar in middle-air, making him stop to spin. It could hurt a bit depending on what happened, but he had no other choice.

Carefully, he kept managing his distance, getting closer and closer, and when Alfar was in reach, he grabbed him.

The soldier spun in the air some times before he could manage to get the two of them stable again.

The impact of Alfar’s body against his gave him a hard time, and he got the feeling that he hit his head against him.

At that point, they had already covered half of the way until the ground. That floor of the Castle was one of the cities that had inside that huge building.

"Let’s go, let’s go! Appear already, Olaf!"

All of a sudden, something passed by them, flying in middle-air at an almost unbelievable speed.

It was a Drakkar, just like the others Casper had seen before in Uppsala, but it seemed lighter and faster, and also had some modifications, like more weapons in its structure and other tools.

It stopped right below the two men falling, and metallic arms got out of its sides, successfully catching them in the air.

Because of the speed they were falling, even though they were caught smoothly, the experience was quite painful for both, but at least they weren’t dead.

Those arms brought them to the Drakkar’s deck and threw them on top of it.

"Yeah! That’s it, Olaf! You are my hero, man!" Casper said, shouting joyfully. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"I never thought that you would know how to fly in these things, nor that your family was the one responsible to create them..." Alfar commented, after throwing out his past meals from that day outside the Drakkar. Surely that fall wasn’t the best experience he had in his life.

Casper glanced at the hole they just got out from. That thing was very visible. Anyone who looked up to the ceiling would notice it, but he didn’t care at all. The important thing was that they finally had escaped from the Third Lab.

He was going to call Katarina to know if she was ready, but then got interrupted when he saw that something was off.

The soldier squinted his eyes and saw that a lot of Drakkars were going out of the hole they made.

"Damn... Those guys are stubborn, huh?" He muttered, getting annoyed by their persistence. "Olaf we are being chased!"

The man didn’t answer, he just kept operating the Drakkar, raising gradually its speed.

Casper never saw him being so concentrated before, and now that he was doing something he practiced his entire life, Olaf had confidence in his eyes.

He moved the Drakkar closer to the city, in the level of the taller buildings, deflecting them skillfully, even at that high speed.

"Hmm, that’s clever. He will use the buildings as obstacles to outwit the Ridires..."

"Where are we going, Casper?" The pilot asked.

"We are going to the General Court. It’s not on this floor, though. Can you get us to a Teleporting pad?"

The man nodded, returning his attention to totally to his front.

"Let’s go, Alfar. I know that your nausea is just getting worse but we need to operate those guns and not let the Ridires get too close. I will take the one set in starboard and you in port." The Dark elf nodded, standing and going towards the weapon stumbling.

"I hope he doesn’t get too sick to the point of shooting on us." Casper prayed, trying to not sweat over this.

He positioned the other gun. It was just like a caliber 50 in his world, but the bullets differed a lot, and it seemed to have less ammunition capacity.

As the other Drakkars started to get closer to them, Casper and Alfar began to shoot.

It was way harder to aim when Olaf was moving the boat so fast and frantically, going side to side, rotating, and speeding up from time to time.

The Ridires tried to catch up with them, but no pilot could match Olaf, and those Drakkars weren’t as fast as that one.

Just as they arrived at a Teleporting pad, Olaf stopped the vehicle suddenly.

"Get out now, while he can’t see us!" Before he could finish saying it, Both were going out of the boat.

"And you?" Casper asked.

"I will delay them as much as possible, don’t worry." And so he quickly accelerated and drove away from that place.

Soon, the enemies were passing at a high speed, chasing after Olaf and letting the other two go unnoticed.

"Let’s go, Alfar, to the General Court."

...

The Princess was in another day at the General Court. She was glad that the mask covered totally her face because it wouldn’t be good if people could see the results of days without sleep.

Anyway, her extremely tired eyes couldn’t let her hide it completely.

That day was another one where some important cases were lost, and she even needed to extend the judgment of a criminal because of her lack of concentration and reasoning.

There were a lot of Jarls waiting out there to be attended, but she barred all of them. She needed some time to gather her thoughts and start to truly work.

Someone suddenly burst through the door of the General Court.

"Who the heck decided to prove my patience? What’s this? I just want to rest a bit! That’s unfair! I am working like never before, you jerks!"

Then, her eyes landed on two figures at the entrance of the hall: Casper, and an unknown tall guy.
