Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 121: “We are Screwed”
There was a flash of steel as the lumbering body of a beast fell to the pavement.
Thalia blinked away the rain that was accumulating in her eyes and observed the area around her.
Littered on the street, in front of the first shelter’s gates were countless bodies of apocalypse beasts, each with their own degrees of injuries.
It was an approaching horde that had found their way to the gate, but as usual they were nothing serious.
She dismissed her armour, returning to her plain clothes and dismissed her sword as well.
The large gates of the first shelter creaked open and Thalia stepped into the compound, stretching her hand to relieve herself of the stiffness.
Just then, Natasha ran up to her in the rain and began walking by her side.
"How are things in Ark’s shelter?"
Natasha frowned slightly at the mention of it before speaking:
"There hasn’t been any sighting of them since they took action. They are probably having a rethink of their plan."
Natasha gingerly curved around a puddle of water before continuing.
"But Thalia, who do you think they are? How does it even make sense that they fought fellow curse bearers?"
Thalia continued walking forward, although Natasha was speaking she was in a world of her own.
’So they have made their move...’
Thalia was very sure she knew what organization was getting involved in the fourth shelter. It was an organization that had been on their radar for a long time now.
Through out their interactions and investigation of the organization, they had not been able to find any single motive, or driving force behind their actions and as such stuck to watching them.
But now...
’They are being a real nuisance.’
These people were far more than Ark and Emma could handle alone. She considered going there herself but how could she when she was positioned here at the first shelter?
There was no telling when the next wave would begin and even without the second wave there were random gate spawns that were more than enough to bring this shelter to its knees.
Countless people could die if she left...
Thalia ruffled her hair vigorously.
’Why now of all times? What is their motive?’
Natasha had long realized that Thalia was deep in thought and decided not to probe her any further while Thalia was having a debate in her head.
’Should switch out Emma for Keira?’
Kiera was just as strong as Ark currently was, but switching her out would mean reducing not just the defensive capabilities of their shelter but affecting their leadership structure as well.
Kiera was the type to take charge and she had the brains to do it, Emma on the other hand was the more laid back type of person.
Thalia paused and ran her hand through her wet hair smoothing it back.
That was when she felt a chill run down her spine.
Suddenly, the world was bathed in an intense red glow as the indomitable crimson moon appeared in place.
A screen suddenly flashed before her face causing her to smile nervously.
[—:Warning! Warning! Warning!:—]
[Curse Bearers! Prepare yourself!:—]
[...]
[The Second Wave and Third Wave Shall Now Begin!]
"Thalia? What is wrong?" Natasha asked, looking slightly confused.
She was not a curse bearer so she could not see the screen Thalia was seeing. But once glance at the moon was enough to let her know, and yet it did not tell her enough...
Thalia’s shoulders dropped slightly.
"We are having a double descent."
Natasha only looked more confused.
"Double descent? What does that mean?"
Thalai turned to stare at her, her face impassive.
"It means we will face both apocalypse descents back to back. Immediately after the first one is cleared... the second will begin."
Basically, they were screwed.

Whoosh!
With a simple step, Grey distanced himself from the beast in front of him, landing on a pile of rubble.
More beasts began to pour out of the rift and shortly after there were already fifty centaurs on the street with more piling out by the second. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Serpentine humanoid creatures came out next, each one of them taller than himself and possessing scales that were tougher than steel.
And then Orges leaped out of the portal as well, gargantuan beasts that towered over houses and wielded maces as large as tree trunks.
Being the only human that was in the entire area, they all turned their attention to him and lunged, reaching for him with their murderous hands.
Grey stared at the approaching horde and frowned. Although they were lunging at him at top speed, he placed his bottle against his lips and took a good gulp of liquor.
"Ahhh! This is the life!"
Just as the first centaur was about to dig its hoof into his gut, Grey suddenly disappeared.
The area became awfully quiet as the beasts searched around with confused gazes. The human had just been here! Where did he disappear to?
The ogres turned around scanning the streets but they saw nothing... It was only when they heard the sloshing of liquid that they realized where he was.
Sitting atop the centaur’s back was a man gulping down ludicrous amounts of booze. He let out a relieved sigh once more and turned to stare at the orge, a sly smile on his face.
The centaur hissed, ready to throw him off when the ogre brought down its mace with an unearthly force.
Boom!
Blood and flesh exploded in all directions, splattering against the other centaurs and beast that were gathered around.
The Ogre let out a satisfied grunt watching the bloody macabre that was now on the street.
The Centaur had been completely flattened to the point where it was not recognizable, one could not even tell the difference between the flesh of the beast and of the man.
The group of beasts were about to move further when the Orge froze.
This time... it could hear that same sloshing sound, but this time it was right next to its ear!
It turned its neck and lo and behold, the human was sitting atop his shoulder gulping down the pungent liquid.
Enraged by the insult, the Orge was about to reach for the human when it suddenly began to fly though the air.
The beast could see the street, it could see the human sitting on his shoulders and it could see itself– albeit with no head.
The head of the Ogre collapsed, tumbling down the street before finally rolling to a stop.
Then Grey rose to his feet and stretched, yawning for a moment while the apocalypse beasts were frozen in fear.
He stared down at the horde as the last drop of booze touched his tongue— and then he frowned.
Whoosh!
The two bottles were sent flying right into the midst of the beast. Those that were fast, tried to evade it but others didn’t even notice it had been thrown.
Boom!
Moving at an intense speed, the bottle cut right through multiple beasts as though it was a reinforced shell, tearing them to pieces on contact.
Violent currents began to condense around Grey as the air moved around him, a storm brewing by the second.
And then he unleashed it...
Wind currents tore through the beasts, ripping their flesh into pieces. The air danced around them, creating multiple cuts on their skin before exploding violently like a bomb.
More beast were pouring out of the gate but just as they were ascending, they were being ripped to pieces.
Bodies were falling right and left, a violent storm suddenly taking root within the slums.
Meanwhile, Grey just stood atop the body of the Ogre that was somehow still standing, watching the carnage below.
A centaur emerged from the gate and immediately jumped backwards to avoid being torn apart and then it launched its glaive into the sky, hoping to take Grey down.
Grey did not even bother trying to dodge the attack, just as the glaive came it was suddenly torn apart, its staff bursting apart like a twig.
The centaur’s eyes widened and it turned to run but before it could even take a step, the wind circled around him, lifting him hig up into the sky.
The beast began to levitate, moving slowly towards Grey who just watched it with a bored expression.
Once the monster was close enough, Grey sighed and waved a finger at the beast.
The air around it compressed and the mighty centaur was suddenly grounded to nothing more than a bloody goo.
Within a few minutes after the gate had opened, nearly all the beasts had been brutally killed.
The streets of the slum were not usually lacking in bodies but this time this quantity of corpses was even too much for it.
Everywhere he looked he would see a severed limb, a head or just plain flesh.
Blood had completely covered the floor by how, a carpet of red so thick that even the rain was having trouble washing it away.
’This is boring...’
The fight was just too easy.
But then— Just as the very last beast was eviscerated, the word shook terribly and the wave boss emerged from the darkness.
