Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Appetite

’Wasn’t he the one who used to be most afraid of outsiders discovering her identity?’

Even when he needed her to act and return to the Grayson Family’s home, he would send people to pick her up. It was only when they were close to the suburbs that she would get into his car and go back with him.

But now? Ever since their divorce, Tristan Grayson was like a different person, coming to bother her again and again.

’Doesn’t he know that his actions would make her misunderstand? That they would give her false hope and make her cling to him endlessly...’

She loved him, so deeply. If Tristan was just a little bit nicer to her, she wouldn’t want to let him go; she’d want to be with him forever...

As she thought about all this, her eyes reddened, and the sight of Tristan before her blurred. She lowered her head, fighting to swallow the tears that threatened to spill. She couldn’t cry. She couldn’t make Tristan angry.

’Just being with him peacefully like this was something she had always dreamed of. How could she get emotional and start crying now? Tristan had said he hated it most when she used tears to play the victim. She couldn’t cry, she couldn’t... Even if she loved Tristan with all her heart, it was impossible between them. Grandma’s funeral was tomorrow, and their agreement only had two days left. She had no reason to be with him anymore. He would probably just marry that other woman, and she would have to disappear from his world completely...’

Just then, a wide array of dishes was served, filling the table.

Seeing her just staring down at the table with no intention of picking up her chopsticks, Tristan Grayson frowned. "Aren’t you hungry?"

At the sound of his voice, she quickly picked up her chopsticks and began poking at the rice in her bowl, not touching any of the other dishes.

Seeing that she seemed to have no appetite, Tristan’s good mood soured. He was starving, too, but looking at all the food, he found he had lost his appetite, just like she had.

"Is the food not to your liking?" he asked, his voice sharp with anger.

’I’ll fire the chefs here when I get back. Their cooking is getting worse and worse!’

She shook her head without a word, not daring to look up at Tristan. She was afraid of provoking him, and she was afraid of him seeing the state she was in.

But what Mika Summers didn’t know was that her behavior had already thoroughly infuriated Tristan. "I’m talking to you. What’s with the head-shaking?" ’What is wrong with her? She was perfectly fine before we got here.’

Hearing the anger in Tristan’s voice, she quickly forced a smile and shook her head. "It’s not that I don’t like the food. I love it..."

"Do you think I’m blind?" ’If she likes it so much, she has a funny way of showing it.’

She stubbornly lifted her head, her voice choked as she replied, "I didn’t..." Inside, she was trembling violently. ’How did I manage to make him angry again? We finally get to have a meal together, and I’ve already ruined it.’

’Mika, how can you be so stupid! No wonder Tristan will never like you.’

Seeing the red rims of her eyes, Tristan’s heart clenched. His anger suddenly vanished. In a cold voice, he commanded, "Get over here!"

Mika had never known how to refuse a command from Tristan. No matter how unwilling or afraid she was, she stood up with a pained expression, walked around the table, and stopped beside him.
