Hearing this, Liu Ergou was momentarily at a loss for words.

Thinking this, Liu Ergou said, "No, are patrol officers as scary as you say?"

"I thought that female patrol officer just now was quite nice," he continued. "I refused her, and she didn't say anything, just that she understood."

Hearing this, Shi Junya patted Liu Ergou's shoulder.

"Sure, she's nice if you don't let your eyes wander. But if you did, she'd kill you on the spot!"

I couldn't just look, I could touch too, Liu Ergou wanted to retort. But that would be pointless to say. It's best that no one finds out about my relationship with Fu Ya.

With this in mind, Liu Ergou just chuckled and didn't continue the conversation. Instead, he started chatting with Shi Junya about other things.

They talked about this and that for five or six minutes, and then Liu Ergou saw it was about time to go.

He stood up and said, "Alright, Sister Ya, our business here is done. I have other things to take care of, so I'll be going now."

Without giving Shi Junya a chance to respond, Liu Ergou turned and left.

At that moment, Fu Ya was standing at the entrance, waiting for him. When she saw Liu Ergou, she waved.

"Er Gou! Over here!"

"I just got a call from my superiors," she explained. "They said I'm currently the only third-level patrol officer in the city, so they asked me to help out. I figured I had nothing else to do and it was just a quick trip, so I went. I never expected it would be to find you."

They chatted as they walked back to the car.

Just as the car door closed, Fu Ya's little nose suddenly twitched. Then, she said something that shocked Liu Ergou.

"Hm? Er Gou, something's off. Why do you smell like Shi Junya?"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou's eyebrows shot up in alarm.

Fu Ya can smell her scent on me? That's a bit much, isn't it?

But Liu Ergou didn't get flustered. He replied calmly, "That's normal. I was in her office for so long, it would be strange if I *didn't* pick up her scent."

However, Fu Ya just shook her head.

"Do you take me for a fool, Er Gou?" she sneered. "That's her natural scent on you!"

"Still trying to hide it from me? Er Gou, I think you're asking for a beating!"

Even though he'd been caught, Liu Ergou remained perfectly calm.

"Oh, that. My mistake, I forgot to tell you—Shi Junya is my patient," he stated plainly. "She suddenly felt unwell in her office just now, so I gave her a quick massage. That's all."

"Is that so?" Fu Ya asked, looking at him with suspicion.

Liu Ergou, however, sat there with a perfect poker face, his heart not skipping a beat.

"Yes. There's no reason for me to lie. I'm going to her place tonight, and I was there last night, too. Do you really think I need to lie to you about it?"

After hearing him out, Fu Ya stared intently into his eyes for a long moment before finally withdrawing her gaze.

"Fine, Er Gou. I'll reluctantly believe you this time," she said. "Now, drive. Let's go back."

Given his orders, Liu Ergou smiled faintly, started the car, and drove toward Fu Ya's house.

Much like the day before, the three of them—Liu Ergou, Fu Ya, and Lu Shuangyue—ended up lazing around in bed until it got dark. Then they got up and had dinner together.

After dinner, seeing that it was getting late, Liu Ergou got up to leave for Shi Junya's place.

Watching his retreating figure, Lu Shuangyue couldn't help but comment, "Sister Fu Ya, Er Gou has been so busy lately. He comes back in the middle of the night every day!"

"Oh, he's busy all right," Fu Ya replied without looking up. "Busy finding new sisters for us."

"Just you watch, Shuang Yue. I guarantee we'll have another sister in two days' time. Believe it or not."

Upon hearing this, a look of shock spread across Lu Shuangyue's face.

"Ah, no way, Sister Fu Ya! I haven't seen Er Gou do anything these past few days. He either stays home or just goes out for a bit. How could he possibly find a new sister? It's not like they just fall out of the sky!"

Seeing Lu Shuangyue's surprise, Fu Ya spoke with utter confidence, "Why would I lie to you? Just wait and see, Shuang Yue. You'll see if your big sister is right or not!"

Looking at Fu Ya's assured expression, Lu Shuangyue didn't say any more and chose to believe her.

By this time, Liu Ergou had already arrived at Shi Junya's dormitory. Having been there twice before, he knew the way like the back of his hand. He arrived at the dormitory building and took the elevator straight up to Shi Junya's floor.

To his surprise, however, Shi Junya wasn't back yet. Her dorm room door was locked tight.

This left Liu Ergou feeling rather frustrated. With no other choice, he squatted in the hallway and began to wait patiently.

He waited for nearly a full hour.

Liu Ergou couldn't help but let out a huge yawn. Just as he was about to call Shi Junya to ask if she was even coming back tonight, the elevator chimed.

He quickly looked up. The elevator was rising, and the indicator showed it was headed for this very floor.

After a moment's thought, he sneakily backed up a few steps and hid in the corridor. Then he peeked his head out, his eyes glued to the elevator.

I've made up my mind, he decided. If it's someone else, I'll stay hidden. But if it's Shi Junya... I'll jump out and scare the daylights out of her!

Just then, the elevator doors slid open.

And out walked Shi Junya.

Once Liu Ergou confirmed it was her, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

He then tiptoed stealthily toward Shi Junya, who was busy fumbling for her keys, and took a deep breath.
