Don't Fall For Me, CEO-Chapter 1034: Can’t Leave?
"Why?"
July Quinn gently caressed Laura Quinn’s face, which looked remarkably similar to her own:
"Are you worried we won’t be able to escape safely, or are you concerned the Marsden Family will cause us trouble afterward?"
She added, "If it’s any of those reasons, you don’t need to fret; I’ve already taken care of everything."
Before entering the estate, she had planned how to leave with Laura Quinn.
As for Joseph and the Marsden Family, July Quinn felt she was capable of dealing with them.
"No, it’s neither. Child, your mother has her reasons."
Laura Quinn’s tears flowed like pearls from a broken necklace, continuously falling.
It was clear she truly couldn’t bear to leave July Quinn and desperately wanted to go with her.
"What reason? Tell me, and I’ll help you."
Laura Quinn was about to say something when there was a sudden knock on the door.
The mother and daughter froze for a moment as they heard a man’s voice and the sound of him turning the doorknob from outside.
"Laura, what are you doing? The party’s started. Are you ready yet?"
"It’s Joseph!" Laura whispered to July.
"I’ll send him to meet his maker, and then we’ll leave directly."
July had long wanted to smash that man’s head, having held her mother captive for twenty years.
But just as July was about to get up, Laura stopped her.
"Baby, don’t be impulsive; he can’t die yet!"
July frowned, wanting to ask why, when Joseph noticed the door was locked from the inside, and his emotions began to stir.
"Why did you lock the door? Open up!"
Joseph wasn’t just knocking; it sounded more like he was kicking the door.
Laura quickly pushed July into the wardrobe, signaling her not to come out or make a sound, then hurriedly grabbed a face mask from a shelf.
"Why the rush?" she said as she headed toward the door, tearing open the face mask and applying it to her face.
When she opened the door, the mask was on her face, her eyes slightly narrowed, so it wasn’t evident she had been crying.
"The party’s started, and you’re still doing a face mask?"
"This wretched season makes my skin dry. I can’t do makeup without a mask." Laura returned to the vanity, adjusting the mask in the mirror.
"Ah, still as vain as ever." Joseph followed Laura into the room, placing a bottle of medicine on her vanity table.
"My wish is to still be that dazzling and unique beauty in the crowd when I’m seventy or eighty."
Laura glanced at the medicine bottle from the corner of her eye.
"I hope you enjoy today’s birthday party, my dear."
Joseph noted Laura’s gaze but remained unfazed.
"Thanks, but if you could give me this month’s entire supply of medicine, I’d be even happier."
Laura’s expression was flawlessly composed; living at Marsden Estate for so long had made her more professional than an Oscar-winning actress.
Even if she appeared to be negotiating with Joseph, she could smile freely.
Joseph wasn’t lacking either, having played the part of a loving fiancé with her at the estate for twenty years.
"It’s impossible to give you this month’s entire supply. Who knows if you wouldn’t show up at the estate for an entire month?"
Joseph reached out to touch Laura, but she didn’t bother to acknowledge him, directly turning her back to him, issuing a dismissal.
"My mask is almost done; I need to wash my face and put on makeup. You should leave now."
"No problem, I’ll wait for you at the party; hurry over!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
As Joseph turned to leave, his eyes fell on Laura’s wardrobe.
