Chapter 72: Battle Between Spirit Avatar Masters

[Heading to the compass’s pointed direction, you activated Ghostwalk to leave Oak Leaf Apartment while still keeping Presence Concealment and Silent Steps active.]

[You created Blood Wings using your Blood Manipulation and flew into the air.]

[’Flight Speed x100! Agility x100!’]

[With Ghostwalk, you flew through tall buildings and walls and headed straight to where the compass was waiting, not caring about anything blocking your path.]

[In just under half a minute of flying, you arrived above a somewhat wide street.]

[When you arrived there, you saw two people fighting each other. They were both Spirit Avatar Masters.]

[One of them wore hooded clothing and long sleeves. He even wore black gloves, a black facemask, and black sunglasses, completely hiding any defining features.]

[The hooded man’s Spirit Avatar seemed to be his black gloves, as you noticed it shimmered with dark shadow energy-like light.]

[The one confronting the man didn’t even bother to hide anything, wearing nothing but pants and flip flops.]

[The shirtless man had six muscular arms manifest behind him as he used them to attack the hooded man.]

[’Is the Spirit Manifestation Core held by one of them? I’ll just use Hint Prompt to make sure I get it right.’]

{Hint Prompt: Nikolai Volkov, the hooded man, possesses the Spirit Avatar called Shadow Gloves. Using Shadow Gloves, he can control the shadows of himself and nearby people or objects as a means of attack. He is at the Late Bronze rank.}

{Hint Prompt: Nikolai works as an assassin as well as the courier of the underworld black market. He was just about to deliver a Spirit Manifestation Core, but then he was attacked by Marcus Steele.}

{Hint Prompt: Marcus Steele, the shirtless man, possesses the Spirit Avatar called Six Arms. He can conjure six spiritual arms for attack, and their attack power is around Mid Bronze Grade.}

{Hint Prompt: Marcus had attacked Nikolai since he had obtained information about Nikolai’s delivery of the Spirit Manifestation Core. So, he took the risk to ambush Nikolai and steal the Spirit Manifestation Core, but failed.}

[Looking at them from above, you could sense that Marcus was at a disadvantage since while his Strength stat and raw attack power were stronger than Nikolai’s, he still couldn’t hit Nikolai even with six arms.]

[Nikolai was like a slippery loach, his agility was used to the fullest as he maneuvered by entering the shadow of a nearby lamp post to dodge, then reappeared behind Marcus.]

[While Marcus was at a disadvantage, his six arms still managed to protect him from attacks from any direction, even those from behind, so he managed to defend himself from Nikolai’s sneak attack.]

[’If I’m not mistaken, isn’t Marcus that guy mentioned as one of the three Spirit Avatar Masters of Oak Leaf Apartment where Freddie lives?’]

[’Aside from Freddie, who was killed by me, there were two others. One of them had kidnapped a college girl due to lust, and the other was in a fight with another Spirit Avatar Master.’]

[’The latter is definitely Marcus since they are indeed fighting approximately 7 km away from Oak Leaf Apartment.’]

[While you thought so, you didn’t have any plans of intervening yet. It was best to wait for them to exhaust and injure themselves or wait until you could find an opening.]

[It didn’t matter if Marcus or Nikolai died since the victor would still be killed by you. Since the Spirit Manifestation Core was still with Nikolai, you merely had to keep an eye on him.]

[While waiting above, you weren’t idle and had kept using Hint Prompt to unravel more of their information and secrets.]

[Marcus knew a little bit more than Freddie, but Nikolai, as a courier and assassin of the underworld black market, was well versed with not only the underworld of this city but also the Spirit Avatar Master circle.]

[So, aside from really higher-end information regarding the higher-ups of both the underworld and Spirit Avatar Master Association, you mostly knew about everything a Spirit Avatar Master should know.]

[In other words, aside from the Spirit Manifestation Core that Nikolai in a hidden pocket of his hooded coat, they were already useless to you as you knew what they should know and had even forgotten.]

[’The fighting style of some Spirit Avatar Masters lay in finding out each other’s ability information and finding a way to counter it.’]

[’For example, Marcus doesn’t know that Nikolai can paralyze his shadow and thereby his movement as Nikolai was waiting to use it for the opportune moment.’]

[’Likewise, Nikolai is oblivious to Marcus’s berserk ability that not only improves his overall stats to Late Bronze rank but even removes control effects when used.’]

[’So if Nikolai used Shadow Paralysis first, then Marcus would be able to escape by using Berserk. But if Marcus became impatient and used Berserk, then Nikolai could easily kill Marcus by paralyzing him and then cutting his neck with a shadow blade.’]

[Because of that, Spirit Avatar Masters wouldn’t foolishly reveal any information about them.]

[In that regard, those at the Spirit Avatar Master Association are at a disadvantage since the higher-ups knew most of the information about their Spirit Avatars aside from their hidden trump cards.]

[Although such information was accessible only by those with higher authority, there were still exceptions since some corrupt officials of the Spirit Avatar Master Association would sell such information on the black market if the price was high enough.]

[As you observed the battle between Marcus and Nikolai for several more minutes, you noticed that Marcus was already riddled with minor wounds on his body.]

[Marcus was at a disadvantage against Nikolai since Nikolai kept on kiting him.]

[Marcus yelled as he activated Berserk, "Damn it! You slippery bastard! I’ll fucking pound your brains out and kill you!!!"]

[A red-colored spirit energy enveloped Marcus, and his wounds even showed signs of recovery.]

[With just a stomp of his feet, he rushed out and arrived immediately in front of Nikolai.]

[Nikolai was caught off-guard, so he could only use Shadow Paralysis as the shadow beneath Nikolai extended a hand that grabbed Marcus’s shadow, fixing him in place.]

[’Now’s my chance!’]
