Chapter 38 - 39 – Xiao Wu’s Betrayal, the Fall of the Sky Azure Bull Python

"Alright. Er Ming is back at the den too. I'll take you home first, Sister Xiao Wu!"

The Sky Azure Bull Python gave its massive body a shake, trying to make Xiao Wu's ride more comfortable as he gently reassured her.

"Don't be afraid, Sister Xiao Wu. Once we're back, Er Ming and I will figure out a way to help you return to your original form."

"Mm."

Xiao Wu nodded softly, seated on the Bull Python's broad back—though her beautiful face now carried an expression of mocking disdain.

The earlier teary, pitiful act was completely gone.

She parted her lips slightly, and in a voice so quiet it was nearly inaudible, she whispered:

"I'm quite happy with the way I am now. I have no desire to return to how I used to be."

Her crimson pupils fixed on the Sky Azure Bull Python's head.

Behind her, six glowing soul rings silently rose into the air.

Red. Red. Red. Red. Red. Red.

Six hundred-thousand-year soul rings gleamed with ominous red light—like six bloodshot eyes locked onto their prey.

Unfortunately, the Sky Azure Bull Python was too focused on getting Xiao Wu home safely to notice what was happening behind him.

Xiao Wu tilted her head slightly. The fifth soul ring on her back suddenly flared to life, glowing with a brief yet intense red light.

"Genetic Lock!"

She extended her delicate hands, a crimson wave of energy gathering between her palms before she slammed them onto the Bull Python's back.

BOOM—!

A ripple of red light surged across the Bull Python's entire body like a tidal wave.

"Hm?"

He faltered, a frown forming across his enormous face.

"Why... does my soul power feel like it's slowing down? Almost... stagnating?"

CRASH—!

His enormous body shuddered violently and crashed into the forest below.

He barely managed to stabilize himself, crashing into a towering tree instead of plummeting to the ground.

Struggling to stay upright, he immediately turned his massive head in concern.

"Sister Xiao Wu, are you hurt?!"

But Xiao Wu only sneered coldly, spreading the bone wings on her back and gracefully floating down in front of him.

The Sky Azure Bull Python stared, confused.

"Sister... what are you doing?"

Xiao Wu smiled sweetly.

"How are you feeling, Da Ming?"

She stepped forward slowly, her hand gently caressing his massive head.

"Isn't your soul power sluggish? Doesn't your strength feel... gone?"

Behind her, the six blood-red soul rings flared again, their radiance stabbing deep into his lantern-sized eyes.

"You..."

He tried to speak—but her sixth soul ring lit up.

"Shadow Execution Array!"

Her once-soft and innocent face now twisted with madness and malice, a terrifying smirk replacing the warmth he remembered.

Her figure flickered and vanished in a wisp of smoke.

A blood-red and black formation suddenly appeared beneath the Sky Azure Bull Python, wrapping around him like a curse.

Within his body, near his heart, he sensed a foreign mark appear out of nowhere.

Frightened, he tried to suppress it, closing his eyes tightly and pouring all his focus into purging it with his spiritual energy.

But his soul power felt like it was crawling through molasses. Even with full effort, it spread sluggishly through his massive frame.

At this rate, he estimated it would take five full minutes just to circulate enough power to defend himself.

His expression darkened.

He didn't know what had happened to Xiao Wu, but it was certainly nothing good.

Suddenly, Xiao Wu reappeared in front of him—or rather, eight identical figures appeared in all directions.

His massive head spun as he watched the illusion take form.

Clones!

With his vast experience, he immediately understood. He lashed out with his enormous tail—but it was too late.

SWOOSH—!

The eight figures streaked toward him and vanished like shadows into his body.

From within the Zerg hive, Lin Fan narrowed his eyes.

"Now's the moment!"

He immediately closed his eyes and linked his mind to the Zerg Swarm.

Within two kilometers of Xiao Wu and the Bull Python, every Spine Crawler ceased its attacks, the deadly black spikes slowly retracting back into the earth.

High above, an Overlord Warship roared into position directly over the Bull Python.

Then—

a rain of suicide bombers.

Hundreds of green-glowing Explosive Zerglings poured down like a storm, smashing into the earth with horrifying force.

Xiao Wu's crimson eyes flickered, but she merely smiled, flapping her wings and retreating at full speed.

The Sky Azure Bull Python's instincts screamed danger. A sense of inescapable death enveloped him.

He raised his massive head slowly, gazing after the retreating figure of Xiao Wu as a deafening roar burst from his chest.

"XIAO WU—!!!"

Xiao Wu turned mid-flight, smiling sweetly as she snapped her fingers.

BOOM—!

A surge of devastating force erupted from within the Bull Python's chest, ripping through his body.

He slammed into the ground, writhing in agony.

Without the protection of soul power, the shock nearly shattered his heart.

The pain was beyond comprehension.

Blood poured freely as he turned his gaze toward the distance where Xiao Wu had vanished—his eyes filled with betrayal and hatred.

But then—

SWISH!

A flicker of hope returned. He felt his soul power beginning to flow again!

He could fight back!

CRACK—!!!

Just as he began to rally, dozens of glowing black spikes burst from the ground, piercing through his serpentine body and lifting him high into the air.

"MOOOOO—!!!"

The Bull Python screamed in agony.

BOOM—!

Another barrage of black-tinted spikes shot upward, ripping through his body with merciless precision.

Now he was just a pinned target, skewered again and again by the relentless Spine Crawler artillery.

And from above... came the final blow.

BOOM BOOM BOOM—!

The rain of Explosive Zerglings exploded upon impact, engulfing the area in a blinding firestorm.

Two kilometers away, over two hundred Spine Crawlers continued to reload and fire, blanketing the region with nonstop bombardment.

There was no distinction—everything was targeted.

The Overlord Warship dropped Explosive Zerglings like it had an infinite supply.

Watching his energy points drop into the five-digit range, Lin Fan twitched at the cost and snarled:

"There's no way that thing's surviving this. No. Freaking. Way."

Buzz!

Suddenly, a deep red soul ring glowing with a bloody and brutal aura lit up within the smoke!
