Douluo: Transforming Xiao Wu into a Zerg Queen Was Just the Beginning-Chapter 44 - 45 – The Birth of the Mutalisk: What Kind of Creature Is This?!
Chapter 44 - 45 – The Birth of the Mutalisk: What Kind of Creature Is This?!
Lin Fan instantly perked up, his whole body trembling with excitement.
Zhu Zhuyun, who had been tirelessly massaging him with her mouth, suffered a moment of discomfort from his sudden reaction. She groaned softly and shot him a playful glare, then continued her diligent task.
Lin Fan gave an awkward laugh and quickly asked in his mind, "Overmind, what's going on? Why can a Mutalisk suddenly hatch?"
[Genetic material extracted from the Sky Azure Bull Python: Levitation, Spiritual Power, Claws, Massive Horns, Enhanced Physique, and Slowness.]
[Flight-based genetic material successfully absorbed. Hatching conditions met.]
Lin Fan was overjoyed!
He had never expected the Sky Azure Bull Python to contain flying-type genetic material. He had been worrying for so long about where to find a flying soul beast.
It was like searching high and low, only to find it effortlessly at your feet!
Without delay, Lin Fan sat up, unable to contain his eagerness to see this new Zerg unit.
Zhu Zhuyun let out a muffled cry, her words barely coherent: "Mmm! Lord Overlord..."
Lin Fan patted her shapely rear, signaling her to stop for now.
Zhu Zhuyun, though reluctant, obediently pulled away and stood off to the side.
Xiao Wu handed Zhu Zhuyun a tight-fitting bodysuit formed from condensed energy. "Here! This is your new outfit."
Zhu Zhuyun curiously examined the black, skintight armor in her hands. It felt smooth to the touch and was surprisingly light.
But once worn, it felt as though a faint energy field was protecting her body.
The suit clung perfectly to her figure, accentuating every curve—especially the most prominent parts—giving Lin Fan an eyeful of visual delight.
Without wasting time, Lin Fan led both women outside the hive cluster. His heart raced as he looked up at the lifelike statue of a Mutalisk hovering above the Tier-3 Hatchery.
A Mutalisk... this was the Zerg's core aerial power!
With this, he could truly begin to establish dominance in this world.
"Overmind, hatch a Mutalisk for me immediately!" Lin Fan ordered.
[As you command.]
A vacant larva within the hive was quickly enveloped by the Creep and began to swell. Its outer surface turned a dull brown, covered in squirming black markings.
The larva began to bloat steadily, though its final size wasn't as massive as an Overlord—only about 2.5 meters in diameter.
The sac writhed before Lin Fan, and through its translucent surface, one could vaguely make out a terrifying creature curled up tightly inside, its huge wings folded against its body.
Its crimson eyes glowed with a blinding, bloodthirsty light!
"ROAR!"
Elsewhere, the Titan Giant Ape let out a thunderous roar as it smashed a blocking Roach into pulp and swept away several incoming Zerglings with a mighty swing.
Panting heavily, he scanned the endless tide of Zerg swarming around him like a flood.
These filthy, cunning creatures... they had evolved again!
That thought suddenly surfaced in the Titan Giant Ape's mind.
This wave of enemies included several new types he had never encountered—each more troublesome than the last.
Even the familiar ones that had once caused him great difficulty were now noticeably stronger!
Last time, he could afford to let Zerglings and Hydralisks bite and spit at him without much worry.
But now, any lapse in surrounding himself with soul power meant his enormous body would quickly be covered in wounds.
These damn bugs... their attack power had clearly increased!
The Titan Giant Ape swallowed hard, unease creeping into his heart.
How could this be possible? For a soul beast to undergo such drastic evolution normally required thousands of years. Becoming significantly stronger often took tens of thousands—even more just to reach the ten-thousand-year threshold!
But these creatures... they weren't soul beasts at all! They evolved rapidly, relying purely on biological might!
It was completely unheard of—unnatural.
Suddenly, the Titan Giant Ape seemed to understand why his elder brother had died during a simple scouting mission—his body never even recovered.
These beings... were just too strange and too powerful!
Crrrk! Crrrk!
The Zerg horde surged like a tide, fighting like emotionless, mechanical slaughter engines—mercilessly clashing with the soul beast army.
They spared no cost, no hesitation—Corruptors and Hydralisks even sprayed corrosive acid and venom into friendly units if it meant damaging their foes.
At first, the soul beasts were completely consumed by the bloodlust of battle, their primal savagery fully unleashed.
But after several hours of combat, clarity slowly returned to their eyes.
They stared in horror at the sea of endless, remorseless monsters, their crimson eyes gleaming with insatiable bloodlust.
A chill ran down their spines.
The Zerglings, in particular, were horrifying in both number and appearance. In their frenzied state, they looked like hellish demons crawling up from the abyss.
Madness. Pure madness.
The Titan Giant Ape struggled to fend off the never-ending waves and also protect the soul beasts battling at his flank.
He was exhausted—mentally and physically.
Countless Ensnarers lay hidden in the treetops, beating their wings to release subtle psychic pulses.
As the pheromones spread, the previously worn-out soul beasts suddenly seemed to go berserk again, roaring and charging with reckless abandon into the Zerg lines.
The Titan Giant Ape's eyes turned bloodshot. His mind grew heavier by the second.
A pounding frustration filled his chest. His strikes grew faster... but his fatigue became impossible to ignore.
BZZZZT—!
Pink Empress whipped away a Roach with her massive tail and sent a surge of psychic energy into the Titan Giant Ape.
"Overlord... something's wrong... psychic interference..."
The Titan Giant Ape suddenly felt lighter—his thoughts clearing.
He looked around at the crazed soul beasts, their eyes wild and unfocused.
His heart sank.
Something was definitely off! These creatures could tamper with their minds?!
They couldn't keep fighting like this. If they did, the soul beast army would be annihilated.
"ROOOAARRR—!!"
The Titan Giant Ape unleashed a deafening roar, pushing a pulse of soul force through the battlefield.

The shockwave woke many of the maddened soul beasts, who looked around in confusion, checking their own mental states.
But then—
A strange silence.
The Zerg swarm... suddenly stopped.
The sea of black, once surging with relentless motion, froze in place.
Countless pairs of glowing crimson eyes simply stared, unblinking, at the soul beasts.
No movement. No sound.
"Huff... Huff..."
"ROAR."
The soul beasts quickly regrouped, warily keeping their distance from the still Zerg army. The Titan Giant Ape frowned, deeply unsettled by the sudden pause.
And then—
"SKREEEEEEEE—!!"
A high-pitched, powerful screech echoed across the sky!
It was like a dragon's roar—majestic, yet terrifying—piercing deep into the hearts of every soul beast.
The Titan Giant Ape looked up toward the horizon.
His pupils shrank violently.
