Dragon Ball Roshi-Chapter 162 - : I Can’t Wait for You Here
Chapter 162: Chapter 162: I Can't Wait for You Here
Snap!
A sleep bubble burst, jolting King Kai out of his nap. Groggily, he adjusted his small round sunglasses, got off his lounge chair, stretched lazily, and let out a long yawn. As he rubbed his eyes, he overheard a conversation nearby.
He looked in that direction and, lo and behold, Taro had returned. Sitting beside him in the gazebo was his wife, Hathaway, and the two were whispering to each other.
Since they seemed engrossed in their chat, King Kai decided it wasn't polite to interrupt. Instead, he stepped out of the gazebo to take a walk, hoping to clear his mind. Over his long years, he'd grown accustomed to a lazy and relaxed lifestyle. Even though he was a god, when fatigue hit, he rarely pushed himself to stay energetic. After all, how else could he kill time?
King Kai strolled around the green grassy area outside the gazebo several times. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Hathaway packing up her laptop, and the couple standing up together.
"...Let me take you back first," Taro said as he watched Hathaway finish her work and disconnect a sleek, futuristic-looking portable storage device from her laptop.
At the same time, Taro's voice echoed directly in King Kai's mind. "Lord Kai, I have a favor to ask..."
Surprised, King Kai adjusted his sunglasses again. From his perspective, Taro wasn't even looking in his direction, his eyes fixed calmly on his wife.
"What's this about? Talking behind her back..." Shaking his head, King Kai continued walking on the grass and transmitted his response. "Speak up. You always have something going on!"
"For the foreseeable future, I'll be training in a place prepared by the Grand Kai. I'm not sure how long it will take..."
Hathaway slung a small leather bag over her shoulder, putting the laptop and a few batteries inside. She glanced at her husband, who looked normal on the surface. Then, she looked at the short, stout figure wandering across the grass and smoothed the purple locks falling over her temples. "Let's go. Take me back first."
Taro nodded and wrapped an arm around Hathaway's waist. "... Then, Lord Kai, I leave it to you."
Whoosh.
The two vanished from the gazebo on the Grand Kai's planet.

The couple reappeared in West City, outside Hathaway's parents' home.
Ding-dong.
Standing at the grand front gate, Taro pressed the doorbell. Since the gate used fingerprint locks and both Taro and Hathaway had permission to unlock it, they didn't bother using Instant Transmission to materialize outside the outer gate. However, as Hathaway's parents were unaware of Taro's extraordinary abilities, they couldn't just appear inside the house either.
After a moment, a servant came to open the door.
Taro and Hathaway entered the house, where they were immediately greeted by the sound of Tam's loud chatter and the playful commotion of other children. The couple exchanged a glance, thinking that Tam must have been missing them. But it turned out that their little one was having a great time playing at his grandmother's house, even inviting new friends over.
"You're here!" Hathaway's mother, Hannah, came to greet them. She turned her head and called out, "Tam! Tam! Your parents are here! Come over!"
The group of noisy children quieted down briefly. After Taro and Hathaway sat in the living room for a while, Tam finally strolled in, dragging his feet. Behind him was a group of boys and girls who waved goodbye, saying, "See you, Tam! Let's play again tomorrow!"
"Mm, see you," Tam replied, nodding. He waved at his new friends — he hadn't made many back on the island — and then walked over to Hathaway. Without hesitation, he reached for the bag she had just set down, knowing it likely contained the laptop she had taken with her.
To his surprise, his usually strict mother didn't stop him this time...
Hathaway watched as the little one unzipped her bag, glanced at her, took out the laptop, glanced again, and carefully opened it, all while sneaking cautious looks at her. She couldn't help but laugh. "Don't look at me. Go ahead and play if you want!"
Little Tam beamed with joy, clutching the laptop as he hopped onto a nearby couch. Meanwhile, Hannah, Hathaway's mother, personally brought out warm drinks.
"He's been such a good boy these past ten days — no crying, no fussing," Hannah said as she sat beside Tam, affectionately patting his head. The little one, however, was entirely focused on booting up the laptop.
The laptop's startup was remarkably fast, and soon, the desktop was displayed.
To Tam's surprise, there was a new folder on the desktop. Hathaway usually accessed files through commands and never left anything on the desktop, which was reserved solely for his games. The folder was titled "Computers". Curious, Tam clicked it open and was greeted with a dense array of files:
Introduction to Computer Hardware From Beginner to Expert: Software Development An Overview of Programming Languages The Architecture of the Internet The Evolution of Global Communication Networks and Personal Mobile Devices
"What is this stuff?" Tam muttered, closing the folder. He tried deleting it, but a notification popped up, stating it couldn't be removed. Perplexed, he attempted a few more times, but the folder and its contents stubbornly remained.
Unable to delete it, Tam lost interest and happily opened one of his games, diving into setting new high scores.
A while later, Hathaway's father joined them, and the family chatted over tea for a bit.
"Stay for dinner?" Hannah offered. "I'll ask the housekeeper to prepare a few extra dishes..."
"No, thank you," Hathaway said, rising to her feet. She tugged on Taro's arm and gave her parents a knowing look. Finally, she glanced one last time at Tam, who was engrossed in his game on the couch, before calmly turning away. She and Taro followed her parents out of the living room.
"You're not taking the child with you?" Hannah asked.
"We have to leave for a while," Hathaway replied calmly. "I don't know exactly how long we'll be gone."
"What's going on? You're leaving your child here? What if he misses you?" Hathaway's father frowned, his tone tinged with disapproval. He looked at Taro, who was silently gazing at Hathaway, his brow furrowed.
"Hathaway," Taro said softly.
Hathaway didn't lift her head. "Let's go home first."
In the end, her parents watched as the couple left the estate, disappearing from sight. Out of view, Taro and Hathaway vanished in an instant.
Back inside the mansion, little Tam was still joyfully playing his game. Suddenly, his hand slipped.
"Ah!" he exclaimed in frustration. He had definitely lost his chance at a new record.
For some reason, an uneasy feeling crept into the little boy's heart.
He paused, looking around the massive, empty living room in confusion. Scratching his head, he shrugged it off and returned to his game.

On the island.
Taro and Hathaway reappeared in their home. As soon as they arrived, Hathaway started searching for something, but Taro stopped her.
"Didn't we agree that you'd wait for me at home? This training might take a long time... even the Grand Kai and I can't say for sure. The child needs you with him."
Hathaway froze in place. She didn't turn around but spoke in an even tone.

"I met you when I was three. I fell in love with you at seventeen. I came to truly know you when I was twenty, married you before I turned twenty-one, and gave birth to our child at twenty-two..."
Her voice trembled slightly, but she quickly regained composure.
Turning around, Hathaway's eyes were red and brimming with emotion. She gazed at Taro with a soft yet unwavering look, walking slowly toward him. When she reached him, she raised a hand to gently touch his face, her expression filled with longing.
"I can live without a child, but I can't live without you..."
The mist in her eyes began to clear, but her eyes remained sore and reddened. Resolute determination replaced her earlier sadness, and her gaze glimmered faintly as she spoke with conviction.
"I can't stay on Earth and wait for you — not here. I'll go mad. Take me with you. I want to be the first person you see when you come out."
