Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 103: Confession
"You did great Celine, look at the reaction we’re getting!" Elise said excitedly as she scrolled through the thousands of comments from fans on an ipad.
Celine’s eyes were fixed outside the car window, the trees at the sides of the road seemed to be moving along with the moving car.
"There’s so much to be done. This week is going to be packed, we have the official signing with Divine Media by two p.m tomorrow, and then you need to be officially introduced as a star in the company. There’s also some auditions I’ve reserved for you, we don’t know what the company has for you yet but you’re going to have to line up for auditions just in case..."
Elise rambled on excitedly, Celine’s comeback was something she had been waiting for, so when Celine gave the green flag, she immediately began to arrange everything.
"There’s going to be a present conference in the next five minutes." Celine suddenly said cutting off the plans Elise was listing out.
"What? You have another press conference scheduled for today?" Elise looked horrified.
A light smile raised the sides of Celine’s lips, "Not for me, but someone who has a lot to lose if he doesn’t do it."
Elise frowned not understanding what Celine was saying until she suddenly received the link to a live conference happening at that very moment. Giving Celine a doubtful look, Elise tapped into the link and it took her to the live scene where Ian Rode was standing on the podium.
"Why is Ian on a conference? Don’t tell me he wants to destroy our progress, Celine we have to do something about this!" Elise panicked but Celine remained calm, not looking nervous or scared at all.
Ian had done this before, a few tears at a press conference and the whole world would be rooting for him, willing to destroy Celine for his sake. Elise was very nervous and she didn’t understand why Celine was unbothered by it.
Ian looked haggard, not different from what he usually looked like in one of his press conferences, but this time, it lacked the fake heart wrenching pain he would try to put up on his face.
Seeing him, some satisfaction seeped into Celine’s heart.
In the past his haggard look might have been fake, but it felt satisfying to see him looking so distressed for real.
"I..." He began, taking a pause. Ian was always straightforward with his words, even if he added exaggerated emotions into them for sympathy, he never minced words, but right now he looked fully troubled as if the words he were about to speak were thorns stuck in his throat.
Celine propped her elbow to support her chin beneath her fist as she watched from the iPad Elise held.
This was fun for some reason, it tickled a part of her that wanted revenge.
"I wish to formally apologize to all of you, and to...to Miss Celine Roberts."
Another mention of Celine, it immediately created a buzz.
Everyone knew that Ian had been hopelessly in love with Celine, that he hadn’t been seen seriously with another woman again in five years, him mentioning her today, was he still crazy about her or was it something else.
"My actions have caused her deep pain, have caused her to be openly humiliated, criticized and called names...."
He struggled to speak, one would think there was a gun placed on his back forcing him to speak.
Well, there was indeed a virtual gun on his back right now. Celine thought.
Recalling how he was quite literally trembling the last time she saw him, made Celine all the more interested in what he had to say.
’I... I’ll do anything, please don’t let anyone see that...’ She recalled how he pleaded desperately.
She had something that could literally ruin him, of course he would beg.
"I have wronged her, and I don’t dare to say that she is the guilty one for this. Today I have called for this conference to apologize and to...to expose a lie, a lie that ruined someone innocent." Ian sobbed, then looked like he was holding back his tears as he looked into the camera pitifully.
"I lied and it ruined her career. I’m not the kind of man everyone has thought me to be, on the outside I might look like a calm, loving person, but inside I have demons I’m battling with. I battle with controlling, dominant and destructive demons.
Five years ago my wedding to Celine Roberts was suddenly called off because she ran away from the wedding. I told everyone that it was because she cheated on me...but the truth is...she never cheated on me."
The reporters at the conference could not hold back their murmurs of astonishment, for a moment there was an uproar, but the crowd were soon made to settle.
"Celine never cheated on me, I was the one who...the one who cheated on her. It was a mistake I made because of my inner demons, I never meant to hurt Celine, I loved her but...I wasn’t able to control myself."
A light scoff slipped out of Celine’s lips.
She had forced him to confess that she had never cheated on him and had run away from the wedding because she couldn’t endure the thought of marrying someone who could be with another woman, but of course he had to try to say it in a way that people would pity him.
Celine wondered, would it work this time around? Would people really fall for his act again?
The deal had been for him to expose himself anyway, so whether he fell during the process or not didn’t matter to her. She waited for the juiciest part of his confession, the one that would help her immediately soar back to the top in her career.
"I threatened her not to tell anyone, It was a horrible thing to do." He sobbed brokenly like a man who truly regretted his actions, "I can’t even imagine how much I’ve hurt her, I was a monster, but I don’t want to be that man anymore....so I came out to confess, I’m ready to tell everyone what I did.
Celine and I were supposed to be married in a week, but I slept with someone and she found out about it. She didn’t want to marry me...but I threatened her, I told her that if she left me, I would tell the world she cheated. Celine was scared and she walked down the aisle but she couldn’t bring herself to marry me, so she ran away. I didn’t want her to expose what I did, so I told everyone it was her who cheated. Celine never cheated, she had always been pure and loyal to me."
Another uproar, but even that couldn’t have prepared them for the next words Ian said.
"Celine couldn’t marry me, because I didn’t cheat on her with just anyone, I cheated on her with her sister...Lilian Roberts."
