Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 110: Dance
His grip around her wrist was gentle, if she wanted to be freed she could simply twist her wrist out of his hand without any effort, instead she remained still when she felt him move closer, didn’t move or say a word when his breath fanned a spot behind her ear.
Her eyes shut closed on their accord and her breathing picked up. Nerves skidded up her spine.
"Dance with me." The words were a deep whisper that caused tickles behind her ear where his breath landed, those tickles rushed through her veins straight to her heart making it beat even faster.
He wanted a dance with her?
Celine’s eyes snapped open, shock visible in their riveting blue depths. She quickly turned around, her eyes gazing into his questioningly but he didn’t utter another word, it felt like there were no words needed between them. He held her hand in his and led her towards the dance floor.
Why did he suddenly want to dance with her?
Her confusion was instantly cleared when she saw the direction of his gaze. Not too far away from her, Ryan was hurrying in her direction.
"Where do you think you’re taking her?" He glowered at Tristan, looking immensely infuriated.
"To dance." Tristan replied dryly, a look of triumph dancing in his hazel orbs.
"I was going to ask her to dance with me, you stole her on purpose!" Ryan couldn’t believe how petty this cousin of his was suddenly acting. He had clearly seen him coming towards Celine to ask her for a dance and he had suddenly rushed ahead of him.
Was he really that interested in Celine? Ryan wondered angrily.
"Well it seems I beat you to it." Tristan replied, then without waiting any longer took her straight to the dance floor.
Celine could feel Ryan’s anger even from afar, he looked so pissed off it felt like he would unhesitatingly bite Tristan’s head off.
Had he really done it on purpose? She had been trying to run away from Ryan when she saw him approaching her.
Celine didn’t peg Tristan to be a man who danced, certainly not to such slow and somewhat romantic tunes, had he actually done it to save her from being in the discomfort of Ryan’s company?
The music floated clearer here, and the air carried a harmonious dreamlike sweetness that she couldn’t deny. Tristan gently pulled her towards him, it felt like her body fit perfectly against his own as he laid his palm against the small of her back. She held her breath for a moment, feeling her chest lightly pressing over his. Her hand felt extremely small in his when he held it, he placed it on his shoulder and held her second hand in his.
"I doubt you know how to waltz Mr Grayson." She found herself saying to distract herself from the way her heart was reacting to his closeness.
He looked at her, a light smile seemed to tug on his lips and she spotted a dimple.
"You underestimate me." He uttered then began to slowly move with her along with the music in perfect rhythm.
"Elites love to indulge in fantasies, that Is why event planners add something as shallow as a waltz session into every event." He uttered distastefully as if he didn’t fancy such things, yet something in his eyes gave away that he didn’t hate being here with her.
The music reached a crescendo and she almost felt dizzy when he twirled her carefully before pulling her into his arms again. It felt extremely pleasant being held by him this way, it made her look up into his face closely.
A feeling of perfection rushed into her heart, she liked the way his eyes remained on hers, never looking away, never breaking contact, she liked the way he was holding her, like a precious art piece in his arms, she liked the feeling that he enjoyed being this close to her because she could see it in his eyes. He smiled at her a few times and she couldn’t help but feel that he only smiled like that at her. If she could choose...she would wish for things to remain just like this.
For her to be able to lay her head against his chest without worrying about anything. She did just that, slowly she leaned against him and she felt the arm around her waist hold tighter, a small contented smile lifted her lips.
To be like this...not afraid that he would hate her if he found out she actually had his children without getting rid of the pregnancy, without thinking that she couldn’t want to be like this with him, because he already had someone else.
That thought caused all the warm flutters in her heart to freeze, and reality seemed to become a cold sharp stone that sunk it’s way into her heart, yet the warmth of his body still surrounded her, and selfishly a part of her didn’t want it to end, as if she should remain forever in his arms just like this.
Celine suddenly felt frightened of her own thoughts, what were these strange feelings she was having for him?
No matter what they were, Celine didn’t want to think about or accommodate them, because as much as it felt heartwarming and sweet, she knew it could also become painful and heart wrenching.
Celine was glad the music came to an abrupt end at this moment and some people applauded while the couples who had just danced left the floor. She tried to move but his arm around her waist didn’t budge, she glanced up at him and thought she saw a hint of hesitation and reluctance in his eyes until he suddenly let her go.
She recognized the look in his eyes all too well, it showed exactly how she was feeling in this moment. The realization that this was wrong, because somewhere behind him she caught the displeased gaze of a woman.
His fiancee...
Celine quickly took several steps away from him. What had she been thinking letting him dance with her? She shouldn’t have reminded herself of what it felt like to be in his arms, shouldn’t have allowed herself remember how soothing it felt to be so close his scent invaded all her senses.
"I apologize for what happened earlier today." He suddenly said to her, "You’re right, I should have no involvement in your life."
She didn’t know why those words suddenly hurt, it wasn’t just pain, it stung like acid burning her heart away.
She watched him walk away going back to some waiting guests and began to converse with them inaudibly, his face remained stoic and no emotions could be detected in them. It made her feel all the more stupid, he felt nothing, yet here she was feeling everything.
Her eyes followed him as he shared handshakes with several men, she couldn’t help it...this man, he was the father of her children, he was someone her children longed for, but a pity...he didn’t want them. If he did, if there had been even the smallest chance that he did, how nice would it have been to fulfill the little wish Leo and Leah have held in their hearts.
This wish, perhaps it was in her heart as well, buried somewhere hidden, never letting it out...she wasn’t asking for much, she wasn’t even asking for him to care for her, just...being her children’s father would have been enough.
Tears welled in her eyes at that thought, he was right there, something tempted her to walk up to him and tell him about them. It killed her everyday to deprive her children of him, but the father they desperately wanted...she couldn’t afford to bring them together.
Tristan suddenly looked in her direction, it had been a sudden movement and their eyes met. His brows came together in a frown and awareness suddenly washed over her.
She had been standing there lost in thought, half on the verge of letting her tears spill as she watched him from afar, realizing this she quickly turned her back in his direction. She could still feel his gaze on her so she quickly walked away, making past the crowd of guests, hoping for a secluded spot where she could gather her thoughts.
Far behind, a hint of panic surfaced in Tristan’s eyes as he rushed after her, leaving the guests confused at why he suddenly left in the middle of their conversation.
