Chapter 115: No One Will Dare To Hurt You Again

Celine gulped dryly as Tristan stepped into the elevator, she stepped back and he stepped closer, she felt as if they were both cramped in the same space.

The doors behind him didn’t close as he pressed the hold button.

"I...I just really have to get back home now."

"Reason?" He asked succinctly and her lips shut sealed.

What should she tell him, that she had two adorable kids waiting for her at home?

It wasn’t an option, so she remained silent. Her lack of response caused his brows to furrow.

"Do you have someone you need to go home to?" She didn’t know why his voice seemed to sound darker as he asked this question but it caused her heart to thud.

Someone she needed to go home to? Undoubtedly her children...was he suspecting her?

Celine’s eyes darted nervously and she immediately shook her head. "I’d just feel much better at home."

She couldn’t have him getting the slightest bit suspicious.

Somehow, all the darkness in his expression had completely dissipated like smoke, and she felt like she could breathe a lot better in the elevator space. Her answer seemed to have softened something within him.

"I really do feel all better now, and..."

He didn’t seem to have heard what she was saying as he instantly bent a bit then picked her up in his arms, it came as a shock that Celine gasped.

"What are you doing?" She cried, alarmed that he suddenly carried her.

"Taking you back to your room. You’re not leaving, not until you’re better." He said as he walked back towards her room, his face set grimly leaving no room for refusal or argument.

Celine sighed internally. She really wasn’t going to get away from him was she?

He carried her effortlessly, and the way she was pressed against his chest caused her cheeks to suddenly flame up, "You can put me down, I’ll walk back to the room myself."

"Not a chance." His reply was short and straightforward.

She had no choice but to surrender and quietly accept her fate for now. Perhaps she would try to contact Rachel or at least Natalia, if she could let the kids know that she was fine and was only held up by work.

He pushed open the door to the private ward she had been moved into after her wound had been taken care of at the emergency room, then placed her down lightly on the expansive bed.

Celine thought she would wait it out a bit, he was bound to leave at some point right?

But he wasn’t leaving, he was standing right over her on the bed, hands in his pocket watching her like a hawk without ever taking his gaze off her for a second.

She lowered her head. She really had to leave now or at least find a way to contact home, why was he standing around her like this?

She couldn’t call them right in front of him, or anywhere around because she might be overheard and she couldn’t risk it.

Without another choice, she resigned to wait and watch, if she got an opportunity she would definitely leave.

Several hours later, Celine sent a glance towards Tristan where he was sitting on the couch reading a business magazine. A smile unknowingly crept up her lips, he was exactly like Leo in a lot of ways.

She recalled how several times she would find her son reading business magazines as if he could really understand the complications of the business world, the kid would even make remarks about some things he read which always fascinated her.

Looking at Tristan’s stoic and serious face it was no different from Leo’s serious little expression, he always liked to keep a straight face and rarely smiled to other people except her.

In a split second, Tristan glanced up at her over his magazine and she froze, that was when she realized she still had a warm smile on her face and he’d seen that.

She immediately schooled her expression, letting out a fake cough and looked away.

Tristan’s expression seemed warmed up a bit as he asked, "What’s wrong?" His voice sounding light and gentle.

"Nothing." She quickly shook her head, trying to look perfectly normal. He wouldn’t think she was fantasizing about him with the way she was lost looking at him with a smile on her face would he?

He narrowed his eyes suspiciously at her before saying as he returned to his reading, "If you’re thinking about leaving again forget it."

Why was he intent on keeping her here? She really couldn’t understand him. If she didn’t know any better she would think he was actually worried about her...was he?

Celine stared at him silently for a while, "Mr Grayson..."

"By my name, Celine." He uttered, cutting her off without looking up from what he was reading still.

His name?

Celine didn’t utter that name because it brought the image of a man deeply intimate to her heart. She said his last name because it made him distant, and made her feel absolutely nothing, his name had almost become forbidden for her to utter. So when she parted her lips to say his name, it came out with a little bit of hesitation, "T-Tristan."

If he’d heard he ignored her, as if he wanted her to say his name clearly, not a quiet whisper that almost seemed like an escaped breath.

Celine sighed and then said more audibly, "Tristan."

She didn’t catch the small smile that crept up his lips from behind the magazine he was reading, when he lowered it from his face, his expression had returned to normal as he looked at her waiting for what she had to say.

"Thank you, for helping me back there."

"Those people, do you know who they were and what they wanted from you?" He asked making her stiffen for a moment.

Celine had several people in mind, but her personal issues weren’t something she wanted to share with him.

Sometimes she wondered if the past rumors about her had ever gotten to him, the ones that accused her of being a whore and pregnant for someone mysterious. She wondered, had he ever thought her pregnancy had anything to do with him?

All that didn’t matter anymore, what mattered most was that he didn’t know, and it should remain that way.

"I don’t know what they want, I’m just relieved nothing bad happened." She replied. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"You got hurt, that’s bad. Right now I’ve had them locked up behind bars, but don’t worry, they’ll suffer ten times the pain they caused you. No one will dare to hurt you like that again." His words rang out sharp and clear, rage simmering beneath.

Her heart skipped, and his words echoed in her mind again.

’...no one will dare to hurt you like that again.’

It sounded like an assurance, a promise of protection, she suddenly looked dazed, her own heartbeat rocking against her chest uncontrollably.

Why was he being this way with her? Like someone who cared...truly cared about her.
