Chapter 183: I Love You

Celine’s memories flooded back, and she gasped in embarrassment, quickly looking away from Tristan, who was still watching her with concern, sitting on the bed in front of her.

Last night, it turned out Tristan had come to save her from Ryan, the doctor had said she needed an antidote or to be relieved of the drug, and Tristan had actually...

Celine lowered her head even more, a bright pink hue painting her cheeks. Though her mind had been hazy the night before, waking up now she remembered a few details of what happened, especially the acutely sensual feeling of Tristan’s hands on her body.

Tristan saw her reaction and knew she’d remembered everything. "I’m sorry," he said suddenly.

Which made Celine look up at him in bewilderment despite her embarrassment.

He continued, "Last night, I’m sorry I had to do that to you, otherwise you’d have..."

"It’s okay," She cut him off, "You only had the intention to save me," After a momentary hesitation, she added, "You don’t have to apologize."

Tristan gave a curt nod, then the room fell into silence.

Recalling how she had repeatedly wrapped her arms around Tristan, not wanting to let him go, embarrassment washed over her anew, she almost wished she could drown within the sheets at the moment.

"So do you feel better now?" He asked.

Celine hesitated to reply, but then opened her mouth to say, "Yes, all better now, thank you."

But she immediately regretted saying that. Her cheeks turning a bright pink as she recalled what he had to do to make her feel better.

She wondered what Tristan must think of her now after the way she had acted last night. From what she recalled she had basically thrown herself at him several times.

"Uhm... Last night I... I didn’t mean to... It was the drug..." She wanted to explain to him that her behavior last night had been due to the drug but she couldn’t stop stuttering, however, he cut her off saying,

"It’s okay, I understand."

She sighed in relief discreetly, then the room once again fell silent.

To break the tensely awkward atmosphere, she asked, "But, how did you know about Ryan bringing me here last night?" She was quite curious how he came to find out about Ryan’s plans.

"I was waiting for you at dinner, but you weren’t at the cottage, so I went to see if you were with Hailey, but she had no idea where you’d gone, it was Antonio who told me he saw you going into the resort along with a messenger, but from what I know, the island messengers never delivered errands for anyone other than the chief himself, and when Richard said he didn’t have anyone escort you to the resort, I knew it could be someone’s plan, specifically Ryan," Tristan explained, making Celine quite surprised he’d said so many words at once.

A small smile slipped onto her lips, she couldn’t help it. "You were waiting for me at dinner?" She suddenly remembered their dinner date, and realized he’d actually taken it seriously, he’d even waited for her.

"Yes, I was." He replied seriously.

Celine stared into his hazel eyes warmth filling her chest. Not only had he come in time to save her from his perverted cousin, he’d even waited for her at dinner last night, however it was a good thing Tristan was a very astute man to have noticed that something was wrong when she suddenly didn’t turn up.

At this moment his face held warmth, his eyes gazing into hers in a gentle manner, his hair looked slightly roughed, his eyes deeply piercing, yet had no trace of it’s usual chilly coldness, instead there was warmth, a boundless amount of warmth.

Maybe it was the moment, or maybe her emotions overwhelmed her, but she suddenly found her mouth moving before she could stop it, almost uttering feelings she’d been keeping inside,

"Tristan, I..."

Knock, knock, knock!

Her words of confession that were yet to leave her mouth were stuck in her throat as a sound abruptly came from the door.

Realization dawned into her. What had she been about to say?

Tristan gave her a look as if to say he’d be right back, then got up and headed to the door. Celine could only hear distant mumbling voices, before Tristan returned to the inner chamber after some time holding a few things.

"Would you like a warm bath? I had someone prepare some clothes for you."

"Yes please." She nodded faintly, while internally her heart was still regulating it’s beating from what she had almost said just now.

’Good going Celine, and you thought this was the perfect time to confess, good thing someone arrived, otherwise...’

Otherwise what? Just what was she so scared of? These feelings she felt for him were heavy in her chest, how long could she hold them back, how long could she continue keeping them to herself?

Tristan went into the bathroom only to emerge after sometime when he’d prepared a bath for her. He then supported her into the bathroom, his presence still making her feel awkward especially when she remembered all that happened last night.

Celine shook her head to get the images out of her mind, now she regretted even being curious that she thought so hard until all the memories returned to her, she should have just let herself not recall them, maybe then it wouldn’t have been this embarrassing.

After a bath, Celine came out of the bathroom to find the clothes perfectly laid out for her on the bed, she smiled wondering if Tristan who was such a successful CEO of a reputable company actually didn’t mind doing all these things for someone. With his usually cold demeanor she wouldn’t have expected he could be so thoughtful and caring.

She changed into the clothes he’d kept for her on the bed, she walked out of the inner chamber to find him setting some dishes down on the table himself, while the waiter who’d brought them just left the room. She couldn’t help standing there watching him until he looked up to notice her then called,

"Come here, you should eat something." He pulled out the chair for her to sit.

Celine gingerly walked over sitting on the chair he pulled, then gazed up at him to mutter, "Thank you."

He then went over to sit in the chair facing hers while putting some dishes on her plate, "Would you like some of this?" He’d ask.

Celine nodded with a soft smile, not taking her eyes off his face as he served the food.

Her emotions were getting the best of her again, she stared at his handsome face, he was the perfect mirror of her children... No, their children, and she knew that she would want nothing more than to spend a life with him, along with their two children.

Perhaps there was never a right time...she thought, perhaps all she had to do was take the leap.

She wasn’t thinking straight, her lips were quick to say the words hidden in her heart.

"Tristan, I love you."
