Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 188: Promise To Spend The Rest Of My Life With You
"Mrs Grayson, is everything alright, why has your husband still not showed up yet?" Mr Reyes came by to stealthily ask Celine in a whispering voice.
The mass wedding couldn’t be started yet, at least not until all the couples were present.
Celine didn’t know what to say as a reply, the wedding had been delayed for a long time, and of all the people present, only she knew that Tristan wouldn’t show up.
The couples all looked at her in a strange manner, but Celine wasn’t bothered by the thoughts that could possibly be passing through their minds at the moment.
Among all the couples, only Simon and Hailey were giving her sympathetic looks.
"Mrs Grayson, if your husband can’t make it today, you know you will be disqualified right?"
Celine’s eyes widened, she had wanted to help Tristan win this deal, but if they got disqualified that was it. She didn’t even know what to say to Mr Reyes at the moment.
Her eyes slowly trailed back to the wide open entrance, where not even a shadow could be seen approaching. She watched the entrance for a full minute before the light in her eyes dimmed.
Did he truly dislike her so much he didn’t even care to show up in something they had mutually started?
Since he truly wasn’t coming, and they were going to be disqualified anyway, Celine saw no need in pretending anymore. She would just tell Mr Reyes the truth, then leave afterwards.
"Mr Reyes, he is actually..."
Celine had just began speaking when people began to murmur loudly, everyone turning their gazes to the entrance. Including Mr Reyes, who Celine noticed broke Into a relieved smile as he gazed at the entrance.
Trailing everyone’s gazes Celine turned around to look at the entrance as well, and her breath stopped.
The tall figure took long confident strides into the hall walking down the red carpet floors. His hair was somewhat disheveled as if he had run his hand through it multiple times, while he fixed his buttons as he walked, as if he had hurried over. Regardless of how hasty he seemed to have prepared, it didn’t take away from his handsome looks in the slightest. In fact, his slightly disheveled looks made him a lot more alluring than all the other grooms who were meticulously put together.
"The last groom is here, thank heavens, I almost thought you wouldn’t show up." Mr Reyes said with a laugh.
"I’m sorry I’m late, I had some things to take care of urgently." Tristan apologized, however his expression was as aloof as usual.
"Well, that’s no problem, what’s important is that you showed up. Although I can’t say the same for your wife who has been patiently waiting here for you, so good luck not to be roasted by the wife nagging." Mr Reyes joked before moving away from the aisle giving the couple way.
Tristan stood facing Celine, her eyes had been glued to him the whole time, however now that he was this close to her, he could see the tears gathered in her eyes. His heart clenched at her pained expression, he lowered his head to avoid her gaze, but extended his hand to her.
A few seconds passed by, but she still hadn’t placed her hand in his. He glanced up at her to see that tears had streamed down her face behind the veil, she still looked up at him, but she didn’t make a move to place her hand in his.
He knew she must be going through so many emotions at the moment, she was hurt, heartbroken, pained. He had broken her heart, yet now he returned to marry her as if nothing had happened. However, he just couldn’t leave her to face this on her own.
Celine stared at his hand in front of her, a clenching pain in her heart.
He came... He actually came. If she took his hand she knew she would be his wife. But what would happen after that? He was only forced to marry her to get his company back, that realization doubled the pain in her heart.
However regardless of what she was to him, she still could never turn her back on him.
’I wish you could take my hand and make me yours forever, but now you’ll take my hand to make me yours only for a fleeting moment, in the end it will all be a fairytale, a passing dream, but I’d rather live in this dream, than wake up to the harsh reality that you don’t love me.’
Celine slowly raised her hand and placed it into his own. Tristan closed his large palm over her small one, feeling her soft, warm hands in his own, for some reason, he wanted to savour the feeling.
He slowly led her up the few steps ascending the altar. They took their place at the last line of the couples.
The priest was glad to finally begin the ceremony.
"We are gathered here today to witness the mass union, of this group of people, in love and harmony..." The priest began.
He hadn’t let go of her hand, holding it securely in his own as if he never wanted to let go. Celine looked down at their intertwined hands, her heart beating in her chest, regardless of the fact that she knew why he was marrying her at this moment, her heart still felt anticipation.
The reality of the moment once again sunk in to her.
She was getting married! The last time this reality dawned on her, she had been about to make the greatest mistake of her life, she had almost married a total scumbag. But right now she was marrying this man, and he was the man who held her heart, the man she was in love with, the father of her children, and the one with whom she would be more than willing to spend the rest of her life.
As if feeling her gaze on him, Tristan slowly turned sideways to look at her. His eyes had a fleeting emotion, one that passed so quickly Celine couldn’t tell if she saw that emotion or if it was her own illusion, but his hand subtly tightened around her own.
"All couples please turn to face your partners."
As the priest said this, all the couples finally turned to face their respective partners.
"Please repeat after me." The priest instructed, "I, say your individual names..."
All the couples opened their mouths to speak.
"I Celine..."
"I, Tristan..."
"Promise to spend the rest of my life with you..."
"Promise to spend the rest of my life with you..."
"To have and to hold..."
"To have and to hold..."
"In sickness and in health..."
"In sickness and in health..."
"For richer or for poorer..."
"For richer or for poorer..."
"In pain, and in death..."
"In pain and in death..."
"Till the end of our lives..."
"Till death do us part..."
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you all, man and wife once again." The priest announced to cause a loud wave of applause and cheers from the crowd.
"You may now all, kiss your brides."
