Chapter 91: She Shouldn’t Let Him Kiss Her

Something seemed to be knocking against her chest, it took her two seconds to realize that it was her heartbeat, beating faster and faster with each passing second.

Celine quickly broke off from his spell binding gaze, turning away before he could notice that her face had turned so red.

"I need to eat... before it gets cold." She uttered, trying not to stutter.

She immediately scurried back towards the couch, not wanting to make it too obvious that she was flustered by his words. She opened her pack of lunch without looking at him, the delicious aroma hit her once more and she almost let out a satisfied sigh, but then she recalled the presence with her in the room and her heart skipped a beat.

’I see hair like sunset and fire, eyes like the sky, and a body like the goddess of beauty herself is standing right in front of me. Are my eyes faulty, Miss Roberts?’

She shook her head so she couldn’t repeatedly recall those words.

They were just... casual things he said in passing to have the last word. She would just take them as compliments, she received compliments all the time, why was this one making her heart race.

She sent a discreet glance in his direction and felt relieved that he wasn’t looking her way anymore. It seemed whenever he got into work, he got all in without shifting his focus, good, she could eat peacefully.

Celine picked her fork and dug in.

’Mhmm, it tastes good.’ Her eyes lit up in pleasant surprise.

Celine felt like she hadn’t tasted such delicious food in a long time, this was even better than the food from some five star restaurants she frequented.

She ate her food enthusiastically, she was a huge fan of good food so she knew all the joints in the city where one could get really delicious food. Back then when used to be an actress, Celine would go out disguised just so she could eat good food without being recognized.

Before she knew it, the first lunch pack in front of her was finished. Celine licked her lips, she could still feel the delicious after taste of the meals and she suddenly felt unsatisfied as if she hadn’t had enough.

This was crazy, such little serving in a huge packaging. It was no surprise he had gotten her more than one pack.

Celine looked from the rejected pack of lunch on the coffee table to him, her eyes a bit uncertain. He didn’t plan to eat it anyway.

She peeled open the lunch pack stealthily, careful not to make enough noise to alert him into noticing her.

He didn’t so much as glance at her as he continued typing rapidly, she figured he was probably too engrossed in his work, that made her relieved as she began eating.

Tristan’s lips pulled up imperceptibly, she might have thought he was working but he had his eyes on her the whole time.

It amazed him that he could find someone adorable as they ate. Adorable in the sense that he wanted to continue staring at her, when she took a bite she would let out a satisfied breath, she would smile with her cheeks puffed up with food and her eyes would light up in delight.

He’d been watching her as she stealthily opened the lid to the second lunch pack while stealing glances at him, and he resisted smiling as he saw relief in her eyes when she thought he wasn’t paying attention.

This moment... just this moment filled up his heart with a lot of satisfaction, there was a strange feeling. He knew this feeling, he had it in those moments he stood on stage receiving awards for his hard work, awards that named him the best in everything he did, he was getting that feeling now...an immense satisfaction as if this moment, no matter how small, and no matter how far away this woman sat to him, he could remain in it, watching her.

Before long she finished the second pack, just as she gathered both empty lunch packs to discard them, her eyes widened as she read something on the pack.

Celine stiffened as she read the letters written on the lunch pack, she had been too hungry to notice earlier. The words, The Eclipse Kitchen, it was a high class restaurant that only opened once a week, and on that day, only a few important people who had great connections in getting a reservation would be able to get in, it was said that they rarely even took orders unless it was from a VVIP member.

Celine stared at the two lunch packs she had gotten to eat from The Eclipse Kitchen. She was stunned.

She had always wanted to taste food from there but even when she had been a celebrity she hadn’t been able to get a reservation not to mention eating a packed order.

Celine glanced up at Tristan incredulously, were these the perks of being a company president? He could get whatever he wanted. Even a VVIP membership at The Eclipse Kitchen.

Celine suddenly wished she had savoured every last bite and slowly enjoyed it, this train of thought suddenly halted when she was smacked with a realization that she had just eaten two lunch packs. And there goes her diet!

Celine took the empty boxes to the trash, she had just turned around to get back to her work now that she was already full but she halted when she saw Tristan moving towards her.

It was his office and he wasn’t forbidden from going wherever he wanted, but he was approaching her, and close proximity with him was something Celine definitely wanted to avoid or at least keep at bay. But she was left with no choice when he was suddenly standing right in front of her.

"Uhm... Mr Grayson...?" Whatever she was about to say was cut off as he moved his hand and slowly wiped off something from the corner of her mouth. She froze, her body seemingly reacting a second too late after she’d felt the warmth of his coarse thumb over her lip. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Her eyes met his wide and incredulous, but his gaze was calm and steady, even soft. His deep hazel eyes that usually looked stern was exuding some warmth at the moment, Celine found herself lost in his stare, she could hear her heart beginning to pick up it’s pace beating with a steady rhythm.

His thumb which was still stuck next to her lips moved, and her skin turned hot when he trailed his knuckles over her cheek in the most gentlest touch, her face flushed. He was staring at her with so much intensity as if he were spellbound unable to look away, unable to move away.

With a single step closer there was no more space between them, his gaze landed on her lips and he began to inch closer. Her chest rose and fell with heavy breathing, she knew she should pull away, but her legs seemed to be stuck, she could feel his warm breath closer and closer to her face.

What was she doing? She should move away, she shouldn’t just let him kiss her, but no matter what she said, her body wasn’t listening to what her mind was currently saying. His nose was close enough to lightly touch her own and her lips parted of their own accord.

Against her better judgement, she anticipated feeling his lips on her own again, anticipated his kiss again, his head tilted to the side, his mouth closer and closer with each heartbeat but the silence in the office was suddenly shattered by the door being opened without knocking.

"Tristan, I’ve been out shopping on my own, you have to come with..."

The moment shattered as a woman walked in...
