Chapter 859: Chapter 859: Ruelette Angler (3)

When the massive Ruellete angler was fiercely rebuffed by Khione’s physical manifestation of aura Frost was momentarily entranced, enthralled by her beauty and stunning majesty.

Seeing the growing excitement and obsession in the young man’s eyes the spritely Princess decided to show off some more.

With a flick of her wrist that physical manifestation transformed into a massive net that tightly enveloped the entirety of the Ruellete Angler’s body, squeezing it to the point that blood poured out from its many wounds and groans escaped from its gruesome jaw. It was completely pinned in place, locked in an inescapable vice that could be closed at any moment. Fear, intense fear bloomed within its heart causing it to cry out and beg for mercy.

And the one causing that fear simply smiled and batted her eyes at the young man opposing it as though seeking his praises which of course the male humanoid graciously lavished her with causing her nose to elongate with joy and pride.

She could end its life with nary any effort while Frost had to desperately struggle through a slugfest of slow attrition.

Eventually however under his constant attacks, its wounds become too much to bear. The massive sea monster slumped to the ground, its scales cracked and shattered, its toxic blood forming literal pools on the floor that left an acrid smell so strong that Frost was forced to cover his nasal passages with his chakra so to protect them from corrosion.

When the last light left the monster’s eyes and the sweet taste of delicious Dungeon points filled his body, rejuvenating a good amount of his spent stamina Frost finally let down his guard and allowed himself to relish in his victory.

His smile stretched from ear to ear, his muscles trembling from the excitement and joy brought on by felling a monster so much bigger and to some degree stronger than himself. Through battle, through the exchange of mettle and skills he defeated his foe and climbed up another step, inching ever closer towards his goal.

Clap clap clap

During his post-fight rush the sound of clapping reverberated in the area around him followed by the enchanting voice of his date.

"Not bad Frost, not bad at all. Even without me here you would have had no problem beating your opponent." Of course the result would have been completely different if the stage was set underwater or even within a mixed environment, but Frost’s efforts still needed to be lauded. He dodged blows with grace, didn’t lose his cool and quickly learned and made use of his advantages over his opponent and looked damn good doing it.

"Perhaps but having a guardian angel hovering over my shoulders made the experience much more meaningful." Khione was pleasant on the eyes and uplifting to the heart but in addition to that her being there allowed him to experiment freely, to better understand the differences between himself and his opponent without the usual risk.

"An angel huh....poetic but not exactly an apt description of me." Khione moved next to her young paramour, eyeing him up for any signs of injury before nodding her head, relieved by what she saw.

"I guess that depends your perspective, in my eyes you look very angelic." She sported no wings, but her beauty was enchanting, her size imposing and those bulging muscles of hers comforting...at least to him.

Frost’s smooth words and flirty smile made Khione slightly blush, unable to further refute his claims.

Others referred to her as the Raging Valkyrie, the manifestation of violence, brutality and death, a moniker she bore with great pride, but his words were always so genuine, so pure that she couldn’t help but start to see herself in a different light.

"Did you learn all you needed to?" Her shyness was brief, her heart already getting used to his attacks.

"I think so, but I won’t know for sure until I face my next large enemy...and without your comforting support." He learned a lot from this battle, but every opponent was different, the same tactics may not work the second time around.

"True and I’d love to help you experience that as soon as possible but..." Khione tapped her wrist, a gesture that highlighted a non-existent watch. "We’ve got somewhere else to be."

"Is it that time already?" Time really flies when you’re having fun.

"Close but it’s better to be early than late." Their dinner reservation was creeping up quickly as was their hunger, that snack of sashimi being thoroughly digested as they ran through the ship.

"You want any of this thing saved?" She asked with a clear lack of interest, seeing the Ruellete angler as nothing more than subpar goods.

"Is it worth it?" Though his knowledge had been growing with every day of reading Frost couldn’t be considered well versed in the nigh limitless topic that was monsters.

"Not really, its flesh is inedible, the strength of its scales pretty weak, muscles and tendons lacklustre and its teeth more for show than functionality." Khione shook her head and shrugged her shoulders; she really couldn’t find anything worth the effort.

"It’s main poison producing organ isn’t bad but it’s not as pure as what you might find in other monsters of the same rank. It’s tainted blood and other organs can be used as supplementary ingredients in a few potions and antidotes, but they won’t go for much."

"So no." Frost was at least hopeful in getting something material in return for his efforts but according to his wizened teacher that would be a long shot.

"Yep....shall I do the honours?" Khione raised her left hand and summoned a dense ball of sparkling silver and azure flames. Less than a metre in diameter yet the pressure and frigid temperatures radiating from it made Frost’s heart lurch and his spine tingle. His body would not survive contact with this little ball.

Khione was offering to dispose of the body cleanly and quickly with her high ranking cold flames. If left to Frost they’d likely be here for another hour and to have the staff handle it would cost money which was completely unnecessary in her mind.

"Go ahea....actually wait a second there’s something I forgot to do." Frost was just about to give her the go ahead when he remembered something.

"Hmm?" Khione tilted her head in confusion as Frost dashed forward and kneeled next to the carcass.

His face scrunched up as if he was struggling with something and goosebumps formed across his arms as his body started shivering. Memories of pain, anguish and fear flooded his mind, but he braved through the storm.

Then before Khione had the chance to stop him he placed his unprotected right hand into a vat of the monster’s venom tainted blood, willingly infecting himself.

Within mere moments he felt his skin start to corrode and felt sharp, stabbing pains pierce through his nerves and assail his bones. The pain was so intense that his jaw clenched shut and cold sweat dripped down his forehead and neck.

’I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this feeling.’ Poison was definitely something he was keen to avoid in his future but sometimes you had to bear a little pain in order to achieve your goals.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing!" Suddenly a very angry and distressed Khione arrived by his side. She fiercely pulled his arm away from the tainted blood and eyed the damage, redness forming around her eyes as she felt a stab of pain in her heart.

"Antidote." Frost, strangely the calm one of the two gritted through the pain and spoke.

"Huh?"

"Antidote please unless you want me to lose my arm." The pain was only growing more prominent with every passing second.

"Ah!" Shocked and rattled Khione stared blankly at her date for a couple seconds before rapidly pulling out an ornate glass bottle filled with a sparkling gold liquid. Then without wasting any more time she yanked the cork out with her teeth and forcefully poured the contents down Frost’s throat, not letting him spill even a single drop.

’She’s so adorable.’ Despite being in pain Frost couldn’t help but feel moved by her desperation.

The contents of the antidote tasted like heaven and its effects took hold almost instantly. The golden liquid spread through his blood and instantly doused the invading poison like water on fire.

20 seconds later he had colour in his cheeks and the damage to his hand and forearm had all but vanished, not even a single molecule of the Ruellete angler’s poison was left in his system.

Khione watched him like a hawk the entire time and the moment she was certain that nothing was left she smacked him one, making his head spin.

"What the fuck Frost!" She was livid, steam threatening to come out of her ears. She couldn’t understand why he’d do such a stupid thing.

’Why would he punish himself with pain for no reason? And with poison no less?’ From his expressions and words it was clear that he had well established fear towards the stuff.

"First off ow, second now I owe you one." Frost clicked his jaw as he felt his left cheek start to swell.

"Huh?"

"You said that if I use one of your antidotes I’d owe one so now I owe one." He smiled back at her innocently.

"....You....IDIOT!!"
