Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 66: Munat Village!
The camp became loud soon after the girls woke up. It seemed the missing guards caused the humans to panic. Leon and Asuka remained calm and composed, as if they didn't care.
In fact, they didn't.
Because the death of a few humans would no longer weigh on Asuka's mind after accepting her lineage, her mood changed.
"Sylvie, what's the matter?"
Asuka's powerful voice sounded more confident and resonated with pride, different from her previous raspy and nasal voice. She spoke clearer and with more force, causing the small elf to shudder in fright, snapping her head to look at her old friend.
"A-Asuka?! You're so loud!"
Erina and Leon watched the pair quietly. Leon was trying to learn more about Sylvie so that he could recruit her to his mercenary group.
'The bet with Erina might work, but trusting humans isn't smart.'
He watched Erina's lips curling into a gentle smile, as she watched Asuka teasing Sylvie, using her crimson red tail to skewer the elf's sausages and then devoured them without care.
"Mmmmn~ these are so good!."
Sylvie pouted cutely and tried to snatch the sausage back, but Asuka dodged it effortlessly. Her body moved like a snake, slithering away from Sylvie's grasp.
The elf's eyes lingered on Asuka's bright red scales, and her movements before sighing as she failed to take her food back. Leon pushed his plate to Sylvie because the food wasn't to his liking.
'I hope she can enjoy this at least.'
"For me?" Sylvie's small face lit up with joy as she looked at Leon.
"Go ahead."
Leon didn't mind giving away his food. He had eaten enough for today during the night with Asuka, and he knew Sylvie was hungry.
"Hmph! See, that's how you should act, stupid lizard!" Sylvie pulled out her small tongue, before grabbing the plate and digging in.
Asuka snorted, "I'm not a lizard, I'm a dragon!"
Leon smiled faintly at their interaction. It reminded him of a pair of sisters bickering.
'What does she keep looking at Asuka like that?' He wondered, while leaning back on his chair, wondering how long the missing guards would delay their journey.
"Asuka, your scales look so vibrant and smooth today, did you do anything special to them?" Sylvie asked.
"Nope! I just ate something delicious last night," Asuka replied, licking her lips as if savouring the memory.
However, unlike Leonhardt, Asuka didn't know that the two women beside her had already noticed her acts that night. With a plump, juicy sausage in front of her small lips, Sylvie's cheeks turned dark red. Erina covered her mouth to hide her reaction but couldn't stop herself from giggling.
"Ahem… I see." Sylvie said, feeling embarrassed.
Asuka tilted her head confused, unaware of the underlying meaning behind Sylvie's words.
The quick breakfast soon passed with the merchants and their private guards giving up on the mercenaries, and though they sent a message requesting help if something should happen. Leonhardt ignored it and returned to the carriage with the other women.
After what seemed like an endless night… the carriage finally started moving.
"Finally, we're moving…" Erina muttered, while she watched the forest from the window.
Asuka seemed to need Leonhardt's physical touch.
She constantly sat close to him, rubbed her tail along his back, and even rested her head on his shoulder. Sylvie watched them with a complicated expression, but said nothing and Leonhardt was deep in thought, trying to figure out what to do next.
'I wonder what I might find in this mountain that stinks of foul magics.'
To the group's surprise, the remaining four days' journey went smoothly, except for slight arguments during mealtimes and the midnight actions of a certain pair, which caused the carriage to carry their mixed scent. The smell made it hard for Sylvie to endure the nights and sleep properly, but she endured it silently.
Even if monsters came close, they seemed to catch the scent of something dangerous and fled soon after.
Leonhardt watched another pack of wolves fleeing in terror.
Asuka's thick aura oozing from her body caused them great terror because of her awakening and evolution. Unlike Asuka, Leonhardt controlled his aura from the outside, ensuring that he wouldn't blow his cover, though when he saw how proud Asuka became of her changes.
He couldn't help but want to stop and watch her with a warm smile.
"We're finally here! Munat Village, at the base of the mountains!" Erina exclaimed as the carriage rolled into a village surrounded by a wooden fence.
It was a small village with only about twenty houses, all made of wood and stone. Several barns housed livestock, including cows, pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep.
However, there was a large building near the entrance, a silk mill used to process silkworm cocoons and the spider silk from the monsters who roamed the mountains into fabric.
"This place seems peaceful," Leonhardt commented as he looked around.
Erina nodded. "Yes, this is one of the few places left untouched by war or bandits."
"But there are spiders, lots of them," Asuka added, while linking up with Leonhardt's arm.
He didn't mind her becoming closer now. The scent of her body calmed the urge to kill and devour the human women in the carriage. Leon's evolution not only increased his strength and bloodlines, but their instincts also improved.
'I almost tore Erina's throat out the other day…'
Leon's changes caused him to realise the significant difference between him and a human male. The instinct of an arachne to kill and drain their partner's essence after mating, and to attack those deemed weaker than them constantly caused him troubles.
"The journey took a while, but we should find out when the next caravan will leave too."
"Erina is always so prepared~"
Asuka praised, causing Erina to blush slightly.
"Ahem… It's nothing special, really. Let's go inside and get some rest first before exploring the village."
This small village didn't have a guild, so merchants could negotiate the price of their goods and barter for the expense and rare silk. The spiders atop the mountain were deadly, and their venom could paralyse and affect the neural system, making humans unable to move.
This venom allowed the spiders to consume their prey alive, earning them the name "Death Weaver".
But they also produced strong webs, perfect for creating high-quality silk.
'I think Aella mentioned its value, should I try to get some from their nest?' Leon considered while climbing from the carriage, his back cracking from the long ride.
The merchant family, which owned the carriage, paid Leonhardt and Asuka a bonus for their protection services before quickly leaving to sell their wares.
Asuka stretched her arms and legs, feeling stiff after sitting for so long. Her hips swayed, and she slapped the ground with her long, thick tail. The other two women remained quiet and observed the pair from behind.

"Do you think they will get married, Sylvie?"
"I don't know, Erina. But I hope so. They seem happy together."
Erina smiled faintly. "I agree. We should let them enjoy their time alone for now." With that, the pair split off but first told Leonhardt where they would be waiting, at the only inn in the village.
"Where do you want to go?" Asuka asked, looking up at Leonhardt.
"Hmm…" He pondered for a moment before deciding. "Let's explore the village first and see if they sell anything delicious. I have spare money."
"Oooh!"
Asuka's eyes shone because when Leonhardt served food, he always used the special fruits grown in his dungeon. These fruits slowly strengthened a person's body—a natural body enhancer, so to speak.
'I find myself wanting to make her smile more each day we are together.'
Leonhardt couldn't help but notice how his feelings toward Asuka were changing.
He found himself thinking about her more often, and seeing her happy made his chest warm, creating a comfortable sensation. However, he still wasn't sure what these feelings meant or if he was ready to explore them further.
'I know this is something related to affection and adoration, but I'm unsure if I can fully trust myself yet.'
These feelings differed slightly from those of a true monster and only occurred because of his Fae heritage, which allowed him to better understand human emotions.
But he didn't dislike them; instead, he was curious about what might happen if he explored these feelings more.
With his Djinn and Arachne bloodlines growing stronger, he had to learn to control his instincts, or else he would become a danger to everyone around him.
'The urge to devour everything in my path is growing stronger every day.'
Though the lustful, greedy and possessive nature of the dark dragon's blood didn't help, either. "Let's try eating here, that massive roll of melted cheese looks too good to miss."
Asuka licked her lips. "Mmmm~"
The two sat down at a table outside the restaurant and ordered a large plate of meat with melted cheese on top. Asuka also ordered bread, but somehow it didn't suit Leon's enhanced palate.
Leonhardt leaned on his elbows, while watching Asuka holding the stringy cheese that dripped down her cheeks and face, creating a familiar sight.
'…calm down.' He muttered, before the tight sensation faded.
Now wasn't the time to hunt a female dragon, but to prepare for attacking his relatives, the spiders.
