Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 94: An Offer Laced in Murder!
Sylvie didn't learn any new spells, and the one used to kill the alpha was just a slightly altered Ice Wall, casting each part of the icicle wall separately to form deadly spikes of ice that grew from the ground.
She could control the speed, thickness and density of the magic, but this would drain her mana and stamina rapidly. Faced with a pack of bloodthirsty, desperate wolves that were starved and filled with anger, she trembled slightly.
"Filthy dogs." She muttered a curse to boost her confidence.
Her hands swiped through the air, using movement and visual cues to help her build mana into the form of a small pentagram, modelled after Leonhardt's eyes.
She took a deep breath, calming her nerves, then spoke in elvish.
"Frigus!"
The spell name, or rather keyword, just meant frigid and was a play on words.
She unleashed a torrent of icy mana, which she channelled into the shape of sharp spines, something similar to the spell Ice Barrage, but like the Ice wall, she started to take the spell apart, her ingenuity an inborn trait of all elves born from the Fae, tricksters loved by mana.
With a glistening array of ten sharp blades, curved and jagged with a gleaming surface, she spread her arms, making herself bigger and more imposing while pointing towards the leading wolf and spoke in elvish once again.
"Penetratio!"
The icy blades soared through the air as the alpha's pack surrounded her.
They charged forward, using the momentum to jump into the air, desperate and hungry to the point of starvation. The lack of food affecting their logical and instinctual thoughts and the magic they might normally avoid became something they ignored.
The jagged ice blades tore apart their flesh like a spread of bullets, slicing deep and impaling through their stomachs while Sylvie watched with an emotionless face, noticing that five avoided the blades, biting and shattering the ice like brittle glass.
It was understandable.
The spell Sylvie used to form the ice blades wasn't Ice Wall but Ice Barrage, a weaker and more basic spell that had its strengths and weaknesses.
"Haa...Haa..."
But she killed six of them!
She was so close to gaining the strength needed to become useful, to being accepted by the man who brought colour and warmth to her pale and cold world.
GRRR!
The wolves growled, but rather than attack, they started to gnaw and gnash at their companions' corpses, desperate to sate their hunger in a shocking sight.
But this gave Sylvie time to recuperate. She stared in shock—her face turning even paler, but then she saw a wolf's belly bloat as it devoured even the bones of its pack mate.
She noticed...
The other wolves were more desperate than ever. Their feral emotions were like pure blood lust.
She swallowed hard and took a deep breath, her mana pulsating and bubbling with a frightening amount of energy because she, too, needed this kind of force.
Sylvie's eyes became dull, her lips became blue as she bit down on them, pouring all her mana into her fingertips, draining herself to the limit, as she almost staggered with a light head.
'I have to do this!'

Asuka's eyes watched in awe as she saw a new side of her friend; above her, Nyxara watched in anticipation while kicking her legs from a thick branch.
"This light skin has so much determination... interesting."
Leonhardt's eyes didn't leave Sylvie for a moment, his lips trembling as they locked into a wide smile. He couldn't stop feeling that Sylvie's determination far surpassed his expectations. The original plan was to step out and help her when the Alpha almost killed her or she became overwhelmed.
And yet look at her...
She danced atop the fallen Alpha, her hands twinkling with icy mana, which spread over the sky above the feasting wolves, her nose dripping with crimson fluid, but her eyes shining with a luminous blue light.
The spell started as thin spears, gradually becoming thicker until they were enormous lances, each about a metre long and ten centimetres thick. The ice became so dense it glistened with a white light, becoming almost milky white in some places, like freshly cut jade.
Her lips trembled, yet she stopped it by biting them again.
Blood trickled down Sylvie's lips and dripped off her chin before falling onto the dead wolf's fur.
"It hurts..."
The magic was near completion, with ten giant lances of ice hovering in the air over the wolves that still gnawed on their fallen kin's flesh.
Sylvie took a few deep breaths as she pointed at the wolves and shouted, "Mors glacies!"
The spell didn't even require her to move her hands as they were so large; her mana had spread over the sky like a blanket before the magic started to drop from above. The wolves stopped eating, sensing something wrong as they looked up and spotted the massive ice lances hovering directly over their heads.
However, before they could take action, the lances pierced from above, skewering each wolf with a merciless strike.
Each lance impaled its target, pinning them to the ground with a crunch, the ice sinking deep into the ground, dragging itself through each wolf's abdomen.
There was no survival, and the moment Sylvie's body teetered and almost collapsed from the Alpha wolf.
"Amazing!"
Leonhardt's voice appeared from beside her, his firm arms catching her light body.
Sylvie dangled in his arms, her eyes dull, yet she gazed up at him in her dream-like state. An almost childish smile formed on her lips as she reached out as if searching for a hug or some kind of reassurance.
"Did I do well?"
He could feel Nyxara and the dark elves in the distance.
Asuka seemed eager to run across, too, but Nyxara grabbed onto her shoulder and placed a finger to her lips.
"You were perfect, Sylvie... Is there anything you want for a reward?"
His words were soft, his hands warm. Sylvie felt like she was in a dream, and a smile formed on her face, something she wanted. There were too many things in the back of her mind. Yet when this man showed up, everything became chaotic. She started enjoying things she disliked, came to love her most detested heritage.
"Make me into your witch."
'Ah... I said it.' She thought to herself while watching his reaction, her arms still reaching out.
But Leonhardt's smile only grew wider, with a glimmer in his eyes.
He leaned forward and let her arms wrap around his chest, hugging the elf tight. He noticed a wolf moved, struggling against its face and snapped his fingertips as a flaming bolt shot through its head, ending its life.
"Is that your wish right now?"
"Mm."
"I like this warmth."
Sylvie's face pushed against his chest, almost purring like a cat.
He could feel her mana flowing into his chest like a stream of cold, frigid water trickling through his organs. It was refreshing, pleasant even, like taking a cold drink under the scorching sun.
He held her closer to his body and stood, carrying her like a child before turning to his companions, who seemed excited to approach.
"Nyxara, don't hate this child for her heritage, and Asuka... do you hate this?"
Leonhardt's gaze lingered on the pair, even though he would take action as he wished.
The ones who supported him mattered a lot.

Regarding Sylvie, he had already spoken with Zafira, and there would be a price to pay for that. But right now, it was these two that mattered.
They both shook their heads.
"I do not hate Sylvie. She is my friend." Asuka replied with a smile. "You are going to make her stronger and happier like me, right?"
The simple dragonoid soothed his dark and cunning heart. "Ah."
He then gazed at Nyxara who tilted her head, letting her purple hair dangle down the branch.
"Master Leonhardt, I don't mind what you do, since you already defeated me. I just hope you don't forget us, and cast us aside."
Thanks to their honest answers all issues from within his mind vanished. Erina would soon accept what happened...
Now then, how would he progress?
'Do you have any thoughts, Ifrit?'
Before Ifrit answered, he noticed Sylvie's powerful gaze and expectant expression before he asked her a question, purely because he wondered.
"Are you willing to become a monster, my monster?"
