Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 359: For profit
The wall was tall enough to be seen from anywhere in the east district, but the streets were so convoluted, Uriel got lost in more than one occasion and by the time Uriel reached his destination the sun was already setting.
To any onlooker, it was just a rundown building that was merged into the east wall just like many others. It was the usual, since taking advantage of pre existing buildings was the easiest way to save money for the government, but there was something special about this particular building. Something only Uriel was able to notice and not because he was a hunter.
The building was special to Uriel and only to him because it used to be a museum. It was nothing compared to the grandiose structure within Uriel’s trait, but its special significance drew Uriel towards it.
Needless to say, the building was completely empty. Anything not bolted to the walls was long gone, but on second look Uriel realized that even stuff like wires and pipes was already taken from the building. It was nothing but an empty shell of what used to be a place of culture and knowledge, but it was as good a place as any for him because all he needed was a place to stay the night.
Because of its condition and location, no one lived in that place, not even cryptids, but that was fine with Uriel.
During the night he started making rounds on the empty streets with his revolver already on hand, because he didn’t want to be taken by surprise. However, patrolling the streets was a dull labor and he wished he had Luna by his side.
With her enhanced sense of smell, she was able to pick up even the slightest trace of nearby creatures, but that also caused her a sensory overload and she was prone to losing control.
"On second thought, I think I’m alright by myself." He muttered as leaned in on a nearby wall to peek over the corner. He could hear a strange rustling sound coming from a trash can and since he was aware of the presence of cryptids inside the city, it came as no surprise to find out that it was a monster rank cryptid, though one he had never seen before.
It was a strange creature that looked just like a person and if it wasn’t for the circumstances, Uriel might have guessed it was a human with a trait that made him look smaller. His first instinct was to shoot first and ask questions later, but even though is aim had become a lot better, he still wasn’t confident in making a clean shot.
Besides, there was still a minuscule chance that the creature might be a person and he figured it was better to draw its attention rather than risking it getting away.
"It’s a bit late to be dumpster diving, isn’t it?" He said, though he quickly regretted walking in without a contingency plan. The cryptid wasn’t looking in the trash for food, it was coming outside the trash can, and it wasn’t alone.
Four more creatures the size of a six year old human, but with sharp teeth and reflective green eyes stared at him intensely for a couple of seconds before chasing after him. Despite their short limbs, they were fast on their feet and it only gave Uriel enough time to kill one of them before being forced to run away.
The cryptids completely ignored the passing of their companion and blindly towards the corner, but once they took the turn, Uriel was nowhere to be seen. Your journey continues with novelbuddy
"Over here!" He shouted from the corner on the opposite side.
To say the creatures were confounded would be an understatement. One second Uriel was a few meters away, but then he disappeared and appeared at the other end of the block. Even if they were low rank cryptids, they still possessed some manner of sentience and they weren’t strangers to magical thinkng.
However, the hunger got the best of them and they continued on the hunt regardless of their prey’s magic powers.
Of course that magic had nothing to do with that phenomenon. It was only a last minute strategy he deviced using his Dash skill to gain as much distance as he could before the cryptids caught up to him.
Uriel repeated the same strategy a couple more times until all the cryptids were dead, then he went back on his steps to pick up the flux orbs.

"I feel kind of bad for this poor little fellows." Uriel sighed as he picked the last flux orb. Experiencing such emotions for cryptids was something he was still trying to get accustomed to. In a sense, cryptids were no different to animals for him.
Some where more powerful than others, some were smarter or more devious than others, but they all possessed unique features and personalities and now that the was in touch with his own emotions it made him feel that hunting weaklings was unfair. Especially because he wasn’t hunting for survival, but for profit.
Those feelings didn’t last long, though, because he thought back at the time where even a horned rabbit could have been the end of him. Even the weakest cryptid was dangerous for regular people, but he was so used to thinking like an ascended hunter that those times seemed in a life far back in the past.
Uriel patrolled the surroundings of his new hideout for a while and the night was pretty bountiful. Most of the cryptids he found were of the monster rank, which was a bit strange for him. It wasn’t so common to spot monster rank cryptids on the wilderness, or even in the lost city, because they were hunted by packs of beast and lone entity cryptids alike.
It was a strange phenomenon that would have piqued Luna’s interest, but Uriel was already tired of his sleepless night and decided to call it a night and go back to his hideout.
