"Now of all times!?" Uriel let out a growl as he picked up his smartphone from his trait. The wild girl was behaving in a strange way and he could feel something dangerous approaching too, but he had no idea as to what could possibly be the incoming threat.
The smartphone screen was locked, but it wasn’t turne off which meant that whatever caused that strange feeling couldn’t possibly be a cryptid since they emitted a field of disruption that would cause electric devices to malfunction.
"How do I even verify my identity?" Puzzled, Uriel scratched the back of his head as he stared into the lock screen message that appeared on the screen, but the wildgirl began pulling him towards the nearest building.
"Stop it, there’s no cryptids nearby." Uriel attempted to explain, but the wild girl insisted to the point where the only way for her to let him go was to attack her and he wasn’t going to do that.
"Look, I know you’re scared, but I’m busy." Uriel said as he reluctantly let her take him into an apartment building. But that wasn’t enough for the girl, who didn’t stop until they reached the tenth floor. She stood in front of a door, turned her body into water leaving behind all of the clothes Uriel struggled so much to put on her and then opened the door.
Since she met her, Uriel noticed how she behaved like a wild animal, but he knew she wasn’t. Even if she was on the weird side to say the least, she was still a human and there must be a reason for her actions.
’I’m certain that whatever threat we both felt wasn’t a cryptid since there was no FOD, but that doesn’t change the fact that I did feel an incoming threat. There’s also the bodies I found on the library, their bodies were unscathed and I couldn’t find an explanation of how they died, but it might be a natural distaster of some sorts or maybe...
maybe it’s a side effect of a cryptid’s ability.’ Uriel inwardly tried to seek an explanation for what was going on, but didn’t forget to bring in the clothes her new companion dropped on the floor.
Once inside the apartment, the eerie feeling on the back of Uriel’s head disappeared completly. It was so sudden, he was left wondering about that strange phenomenon for a few seconds before attempting to unlock his cellphone again.
"This is weird, it’s the first time my smartphone is blocked, but that’s only natural since I’m the only one with access to it... or am I?" Uriel’s line of thought finally led him to think someone entered his museum. The only two suspects were Water warlock and Nika, since no one else had access inside his trait.
But he also couldn’t rule out other possibilities since hunter traits were so varied, so he warily entered his museum to check if everything was alright.
He searched all the exhibitions and found nothing out of place, which meant the culprit had to be Nika.
"How’s that possible? Is she nearby? No, I can’t even feel my bond with her so she’s not in range to enter my shadow. But then, how did she enter my museum? Is this similar to how I’m able to borrow a part of her abilities to activate the shadow cloak?
Perhaps she learned how to enter my museum and that was the strange feeling." While Uriel kept himself busy trying to unravel the mysteries at hand, the wild girl sat on the couch gazing at the city below.

Cities of old were different to megacities. They had a few tall buildings, but the view of the sky was mostly unobstructed and they had access to sunlight everyday. That also meant that the night sky was open to them, but the stars were usually covered behind the smog and city lights.
Uriel couldn’t help but to observe the wild girl’s beautiful face under what he thought was the moonlight, but then he realized she kept her gaze fixated at a poit at the distance.
"What are you looking at?" He asked knowing full well he wouldn’t get a reply from her. After leaning on the window, it wasn’t difficult for him to find out the answer by himself, though he wished he didn’t do it.
Contrary to what he thought, the light didn’t come from the starry sky but from ground level. Everything was covered in an oddly familiar mist that shimmered in cyan, just like back in Chichén Itzá the fog moved slowly but surely, filling every nook and cranny of the abandoned city, but at a distance he was able to see the bone chilling outline of a creature too frighteniing to even be explained.
It wasn’t just the size that left Uriel in a daze, but the fact that in spite of its gargantuan size it didn’t emit a single sound. In a sense, it was similar to what made him wary of the wild girl at first, but the contrast between a human girl and a huge cryptid like that was too much to even compared them.
"What in the hell is that thing!?" Uriel let out astonished by the sight of a creature that had to be of a higher level than horror. His outburst seemed to affect the wild girl and she became antsy. She moved from side to side and tried to communicate with him, but he couldn’t understand what she was trying to tell him.
The closer the mist got to them, the more anxious the wild girl became. She hissed and growled at Uriel, then the next moment she was completely blank faced, but he just didn’t understand what she was trying to tell him.
It was beyond frustrating, but what bothered him the most was the fact that she was stark naked again and it was hard for him to focus on the message she was trying so hard to convey.
"Alright, it’s not weird for people to be naked. Many cultures around the world had no need for clothing, in fact, when human civilization started clothes weren’t even invented yet." He clapped his cheeks to snap himself out of his reverie and took a seat to observe her.
"I can’t focus, this is the weirdest strip tease ever! At least put your clothes on before continuing!" He tried to get her to dress up, but she hissed at him with hostility. Only then did he notice that even though she showed hostility towards him, he didn’t feel it. "Are you trying to tell me to conceal my energy signature like you’re doing now?"
The girl didn’t reply, but when she notice the face Uriel was making she knew he understood something, she kept her gaze on him with expecting eyes.
The first thing he tried was to close his eyes and focus on his flux ewnergy, but the girl let out a low growl hinting it wasn’t the right thing to do. Then, he tried to focus on his mystical sense, which seemed to work for a brief period of time, but just when he felt he was heading into the right direction the growling started again.
"Even if that’s what you want me to do, it’s not like I can just do it." He replied with a shrug, but she didn’t stop glaring at him. Never before had Uriel attempted to conceal his energy signature, not that it wouldn’t have been helpful, but something like that was completely unheard of in the hunter community.
Maybe there were some hunters capable of doing it, but they either did it out of innate ability or they kept it to themselves since it gave them an advantage.
After all, one of the biggest dangers during incursions was to be ambushed by cryptids because of the strong energy signature hunters emitted.
"Something’s missing for me to crack this..." He said when he realized he was having touble focusing. This time it wasn’t the fact that there was a naked girl in front of him, but that he didn’t feel pressured at all.
He looked outside the window and kept his gaze focused on the gaze of the humungous cryptid at a distance, but since it didn’t emit any presence whatsoever he just didn’t ’feel the danger’. Because of this, he did the one thing he knew he shouldn’t.
As soon as he walked outside the apartment, the eerie feeling began again. He closed his eyes and focused on his mystical sense, only instead of trying to spot any enemies nearby he focused on his own presence.
To say it was enlightening wouldn’t begin describing the experience. For the first time, Uriel was able to feel his own presence and it filled with with both joy and dread on equal measure. He was able to feel his own self as a bright light, he also felt his bond with Nika which was like a shadow serpent twisted around the light, but there was also a strange thing.
A single drop of water hovering around, like a planet orbiting the sun. It was so tiny compared to the light he might have missed it, but now that he saw it he couldn’t unsee it.
Before he could even make sense of his finding, the wild girl pulled him inside and closed the door behind him.
