The revenants that used to be scattered all over the outpost vanished not long after being bathed by sunlight leaving behind nothing but moss and insects behind. Needless to say, Uriel was beyond disappointed that they didn't drop any flux orbs, but what annoyed him the most was the countless insects that now swarmed the place.

He was tempted to activate his Dash skill and kill them all, but he knew it would have been a waste of his much needed flux energy since Young, Rusty and a few of the strongest revenants took cover behind the wall, though Uriel knew it was pointless to even spend bullets on them since they would likely regenerate over and over. Besides, he didn't intend to stay any longer in that outpost.

In a sense, just surviving the night was enough for him to win the battle, but he now had questions he needed to answer and fortunately, there were enough people to interrogate.

"Hey, Young, how was your daughter doing the last time you saw her? Wasn't she sad that you died?"

"She was doing fine, disobedient as always. I think she was more mad than sad." Young's revenant barely moved, but Uriel could have sworn he saw it flinch by the mention of Mayhem.

"How is the afterlife treating you, Rusty? Do you have any words you want me to carry to your family?" Uriel asked, knowing full well that Rusty's entire family disappeared during the arrival.

"You're too cruel, but I guess I deserve it."

'Interrogating them is pointless if I can't read their emotions. I'll never see past their lies, if there are any to begin with."

"Excuse me, I know I just tried to kill you, but would you mind passing a message to Colonel sword?" An old man said in a slow manner of speech. Uriel recognized it as one of the slowest and weakest revenants, which surprised him since those who remained were mostly the ones he had more trouble fighting against.

"Who are you?"

"Tell Colonel sword that I think she's hotter than her sister." The revenant, who seemed to resemble an old man, said before walking into the sun and disappearing.

Uriel had no intention to watch the rest of the revenants disappear since they didn't even drop a flux orbs and speaking to them was pointless unless he was able to confirm whether or not they were even capable of telling the truth and he turned to leave the outpost.

Sharp and the wild girl were already outside waiting for him. Contrary to Uriel, none of them had any curiosity for what they had to say, but Sharp was particularly creeped out by the possibility that they were real.

She was a simple woman who limited herself to perform her duty. To her, dying to protect humanity was the ultimate goal of a ranger and she had no interest on the afterlife, especially if it looked like that.

Sharp guided both Uriel and the wild girl towards the megacity of Texas. It was true that she knew the safest way, but the reason she took that position was because she needed to distract herself from the last events. Nevertheless, a single thought kept taking laps around her head and after half an hour she couldn't take a single step forward without an answer.

"Just what in the world are you? You look like an ascended at best, but you fight like a heavenly rank. Not just that, your trait allows you to move really fast, but you can also summon a cryptid to fight for you. I never even heard of someone with two traits, but then... you can also summon weapons."

"Miss Sharp, haven't you heard it's impolite to ask other hunters about their traits?"

"And that's not all, that girl there. She doesn't speak a word in english, but she's really smart and she's also incredibly tough. If I didn't know better I'd say she's a holy rank hunter, but that would be impossible. There's only one per city and I've heard they attrack very strong cryptids when out in the open, but so far we haven't encountered a single one past beast rank."

"I'm a heavenly rank hunter and she is a holy rank hunter, but we know how to conceal our energy signature." Uriel replied with a straight face. Anybody else, she would have laughed at that statement thinking it was a joke, but she already had her suspicions about Uriel.

"I see," Sharp muttered, lingered for a few seconds and then continued. "Then you haven't been honest from the very beginning. I believe now that she was a wild girl you found in the lost city to the east, but your mission was never to deliver a message, but to deliver her to the rangers."

"That's also not true. There's no mission, I just made that up to get your cooperation."

"I don't get it, if you can conceal your flux energy, then you could have walked right past us without us even noticing."

"But that would have left you completely open to the fog which, by the way, is a titan rank cryptid and I presume it was the one responsible for the lost city to the east." Now that Uriel was able to speek freely with Sharp, he felt a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, but the same weight was now affecting Sharp.

All the pain and emotions she experienced the past night amounted to nothing next to the revelation Uriel just made.

"Hang on a second, does that mean that what you said about the Fallen corp. using people as cattle to feed cryptids within the city is also true?"

"Unfortunately, yes. I can't confirm what's their end game yet, but I've seen it with my own eyes. The east district is filled with dopplegangers, it seems that vampires took the north gate district and the south," Uriel made a pause trying to think on what to say, but he couldn't even describe the situation in the south district.

"The south district is the worst and you should stay away from that place if you know what's best for you."

"If that's the truth, then why are you going there?"

"I have my reasons. I won't blame you if you don't want to cmoe with me anymore." Uriel replied with a shrug.

"No, I'm a ranger and my duty to the city comes above all. It's true that rangers don't spend much time within city walls, but we love our city and can't fathom abandoning it even in the darkest of nights," Sharp gazed at the horizon towards the city. She let out a sigh to clear her head and then continued. "But I still don't think you should bring that girl with you."

"What am I supposed to do with her then? I can't go back to the east because of the titan. Besides, she's stronger than she seems."

"Power is not the issue, when holy rank hunters are involved it becomes a political affair. Even if the titan rank cryptid never shows up, bringing an unidentified holy rank hunter can cause chaos.

Not to mention that if things are as dangerous as you say, without any training she'll be a juicy snack for cryptids." The mention of the word snack seemed to catch the wild girl's attention and she looked at Uriel with puppy eyes, to which Uriel replied by giving her a treat from his souvenir shop triggering Sharp's laughter. "At least she's a fast learner. What's her name by the way?"

"How would I know? It seems she's been alone since before learning even her name, she just parrots words here and there but can't yet understand anything we said... other than the word you just mentioned but I won't repeat or she'll ask for seconds."

"Tch! You're heartless."

"Not the first time I hear that." A wry smile was drawn on Uriel's face and they soon continued their way towards the city. He didn't have a plan to enter, but now that he was able to hide his presence it should be an easy task. The problem now was that Sharp wasn't wrong when she mentioned that bringing the wild girl to the city was not ony dangerous for her, but to everyone there.

If a doppelganger managed to copy her trait, there was no saying in the kind of destruction they could bring upon the city. So far, the most Uriel had seen her do is turn her body into water, but he knew she was a holy rank which meant it couldn't possibly be that simple.

She might have the power to turn anything into water or maybe summon an endless stream of water that can cause a flood. When it was related to traits, pretty much anything was possible and he realized that by bringing her along he might as well be setting himself up for failure.

"Miss Sharp, there's something I'd like to ask you..." Uriel looked at her and then at the wild girl, knowing their time together had come to an end.
