Chapter 259: Chapter 268-269 Reasons

"So he just kept sleeping after getting caught in the rain yesterday?" he asked.

"No, he woke up once in the middle of the night. I took his temperature and found he had a bit of a fever, so I gave him some antipyretics and made some dumplings to fill his stomach." she said.

Dorian Howards’ expression changed slightly, as if contemplating for a while before speaking, "When he woke up yesterday, did he do anything that seemed a bit odd to you? Like... um, behaving a bit childishly or something..."

"He called me sister," Mabel Quinn said directly, "I even watched... uh, an animation with him." Of course, this was because she insisted, and they didn’t end up watching those films but switched to animation instead.

For a moment, Mabel Quinn and Dorian Howards stared at each other, wide-eyed.

At this moment, the person who had been lying in bed slowly opened his eyes. After seeing the two in front of him, he blinked, then naturally leaned towards Mabel Quinn and said, "Sister, who is this brother?"

Mabel Quinn was sweating profusely. Had Kyle Kinston gotten so feverish that he couldn’t even recognize his own friends?

Dorian Howards said with a somewhat awkward expression, "I’m... uh, a friend of your sister’s. I heard you were sick, so I came to visit you."

"Thank you, brother." Kyle Kinston displayed a harmless, bashful smile, "I’ll be good and listen to sister, and take my medicine obediently."

Dorian Howards’ face twitched a few times unnaturally. While Kyle Kinston went to the bathroom to wash up, he pulled Mabel Quinn aside and said, "I’ll keep it short. Because of some things that happened when Kyle was a child, when he has a fever, his thoughts and behavior revert to when he was about six years old. But this symptom hasn’t appeared for many years, and it’s only limited to when he has a fever. Once the fever is gone, he’ll be back to normal."

Mabel Quinn was full of surprise, so Kyle’s strange words and actions whenever he had a fever were because he was basically behaving like a six-year-old.

"But before, when Kyle’s thinking regressed to six years old, he was very resistant to people approaching him. However, it seems he doesn’t resist you." Dorian Howards said, glancing at Mabel Quinn with a sigh of admiration. No wonder, for this woman turned out to be Kyle’s life anchor.

It was thought that maybe Kyle would never find his life anchor in this lifetime, but who would have thought that a trip to J City would lead him to meet his life anchor. It must be said that perhaps all of this was predestined.

Kyle Kinston finished washing up and stepped out of the bathroom. Mabel Quinn picked out an outfit from the wardrobe for Kyle Kinston and said, "Here, you change your clothes first." She then intended to leave the room with Dorian Howards.

Unexpectedly, Kyle Kinston grabbed her and said, "Sister, can you stay with me while I change clothes?"

Mabel Quinn was embarrassed. Did changing clothes need company? Especially with someone else present.

Dorian Howards raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at them with interest, then said, "Well, since there’s nothing here for me now, I’ll be off."

"Hey, wait!" Mabel Quinn quickly said, "You’re leaving just like that? What about Kyle..."

"Give him some more antipyretics. Once the fever goes down, he’ll naturally return to normal. I’ll help him request leave from work here, and as for the Kinston Mansion, just try not to let anyone notice his unusual behavior," Dorian Howards said casually before patting his pants and leaving.

Mabel Quinn was speechless. She glanced at Kyle Kinston beside her, cheeks flushing as she watched him start changing his clothes.

Seeing Kyle Kinston dressed up, Mabel Quinn stepped forward and beckoned with her finger, "Come, bend down a bit."

He obediently bent down, his gaze almost level with hers.

She reached out to turn his collar properly and gently smoothed out his somewhat messy hair with her hand.

He seemed comfortably squinted his eyes, lowering his head a little more, as if cooperating with her hand movements, even rubbing his head against her palm actively.

Mabel Quinn felt like she was petting a large dog.

While having breakfast, Mabel Quinn also called the crew to take a day off.

"Is there anything you want to do today?" Mabel Quinn asked.

Kyle Kinston looked up, somewhat bewildered, "What does sister want me to do?"

She hesitated, "So... what do you usually do?" Remembering when she was six, besides kindergarten, most of the time she stayed at home. Sometimes father would take her to the park nearby to play, but mostly on holidays, her mother and father would take her brother out to play and have the neighbors look after her.

Sometimes father wanted to bring her along, but her mother always argued about it, so gradually, she would volunteer to stay at home. During those times, her father would always sigh, looking at her with a complicated expression, saying, "Tung Tung, it’s dad’s fault. You should have a better life."
