Chapter 137: Preparations II

’Hehe, there’ll definitely be important figures tonight,’ Kael thought. His mind raced through possibilities. ’The Mei Kingdom Royals, Mid-Tier Sects, and the Three Ducal Families. Every one of them will send representatives. The Queen of Mei Kingdom might even participate personally, since it’s unlikely the King would bother. I hope to get at least one more ancient fragment this time. And some of those techniques and items would be great for research too...’

Excitement built in his chest.

This Rising Dragon Auction was definitely large scale. The most popular yearly event in Mei Kingdom. People talked about it for months after. Deals made here could change lives, bringing fortunes or misfortune. Even in terms of political power.

The auction gathered forces from within and across territories surrounding Mei Kingdom, not just local powers. Cultivators from neighboring kingdoms and merchants from distant cities. Everyone who mattered would attend or send representatives.

And according to recent rumours, the Queen might appear personally. That alone made it significant.

There would be techniques for sale, powerful weapons, incomplete maps, and items that Kael desperately wanted, needed even.

The auction was scheduled for this evening. Only now did Kael fully understand he needed extra preparations, more resources and options.

Said simply, Kael needed to gather more primal stones. Many more.

Now that he knew top forces would be attending, he had to be well prepared and properly equipped. If interesting items appeared—and they would—Kael needed the wealth to bid competitively.

Otherwise he’d just be another spectator, watching while others claimed treasures he wanted.

Over the next two hours, Kael sold materials in large quantities. Pills that didn’t suit his cultivation style, weapons he’d never use, armor pieces that didn’t fit, and all the miscellaneous items cluttering his inventory.

He kept only things that might prove useful in the future. The truly valuable weapons, the rare pills, and the unique materials. Everything else was sold off.

After clearing them out, Kael’s wealth had grown substantially. His inventory was filled with low-grade Primal Stones—the standard currency for events like the Rising Dragon Auction.

He’d also bought an interspatial ring during his shopping as it would help conceal his system inventory, and void suspicions and unnecessary questions.

Why does a young cultivator have so much storage space? Where did all these items come from? Questions like that could lead to problems.

The new ring provided cover and a reasonable explanation.

At this point in time, Kael was extremely wealthy. At least by rogue cultivator standards. Maybe by small sect standards too.

The primal stones in his possession when converted to low-grade easily numbered in the hundreds of millions—well over five hundred million.

That was enough to buy multiple Elite grade weapons, dozens of high-quality pills, and maybe even bid on Master Tier techniques if any appeared.

Being an extension of the Azure Sky Pavilion, the headquarters of the Rising Dragon Auction was located in the middle of the five continents—the Martial Heaven Continent. The center of the Azure World where the most powerful factions gathered.

They operated as a completely neutral force with no political allegiances or favoritism. They didn’t reveal seller identities or share buyer information. They upheld perfect anonymity for everyone involved.

Therefore, it was an excellent place to liquidate items without drawing attention. Without creating connections between Kael and the goods he sold. And also the ones he had them auction off in today’s auction, as that would generate more profit for him.

The sun moved lower in the sky as afternoon faded toward evening. The auction would begin in a few hours.

Kael returned to the Golden Crane Inn, went to his room. He washed, changed into new robes—dark blue with silver thread. It was expensive looking but not ostentatious. The clothes of someone with wealth but not noble birth.

He checked his disguise in the small mirror. Blue hair and Black eyes, nothing like the wanted portraits. His aura felt different even to himself. The bloodline alteration was holding perfectly.

He was as ready as he could be.

Kael left the inn as the sun touched the horizon. The sky turned orange and red, evening claimed the capital.

---

In an elegant and quiet area where the river and woods intersected, a magnificent building stood.

The Rising Dragon Auction wasn’t held in the expected crowded and noisy district. Instead, this place was even quieter than normal auction houses. It was peaceful, almost serene.

The building sat beside a clear lake with ancient trees surrounding it. Their branches hung over the water, creating a natural shade. The air smelled of pine and fresh water as birds sang in the distance.

If one were to underestimate the Rising Dragon Auction based on its peaceful location, they would be severely mistaken. Catastrophically wrong.

The reason for the small number of people wasn’t because it lacked prestige. It was quite the opposite.

The Rising Dragon Auction was extremely high class and exclusive. The entrance fee alone was two thousand mid-grade Primal Stones. That equated to two million low-grade Primal Stones. A fortune that would bankrupt most rogue cultivators instantly.

Furthermore, the items sold here all easily started their bidding at one million low-grade Primal Stones at the minimum. Most went far higher. Normal experts at the Primal Adept Realm could only look around, window shopping. They couldn’t afford to actually bid.

However, the situation this time was different from usual auctions. Much different.

Many of the products being offered today were at the pinnacle of what the continent could produce. The absolute peak. Items that factions would go to war over.

Flying steeds flew incessantly above the woods and lake. Dozens of them, maybe hundreds. Spirit beasts, Flying artifacts, and Swords carrying cultivators. The sky was more crowded than the ground.

Conversations drifted from groups approaching the building.

"The people attending the Rising Dragon Auction this time is several times the normal amount," one cultivator said. His voice carried excitement and anticipation.

"Of course," his companion replied. "There are broken pieces of Soul grade items being auctioned. The Demon Slaughtering Blade. Heaven’s Legacy Maps. The Seven Sword Incomplete Manual. Other high class items too. Even those at Primal Grandmaster Realm would come for these."
