Chapter 141: Auction I

Kael smiled faintly, knowing what was about to happen.

As Master Feng’s words finished, voices erupted immediately. People began shouting over each other, sounding desperate and eager.

"I’ll bid one million and five hundred thousand!"

"One million and six hundred thousand!"

"One million and eight hundred thousand!"

The numbers climbed rapidly. The crowd was going crazy, competing fiercely.

This bottle of Ice Essence Spiritual Fluid easily passed two million. Then two million and three hundred thousand. The price steadily rose higher.

Kael watched carefully as he noted which boxes were bidding and which factions cared enough to compete.

Several elders of families with less talented descendants wanted this desperately to change the destiny of their children and to give them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have. And most importantly, to avoid the shame of raising another generation of disappointments.

The bidding war continued for several minutes back and forth. The price went higher and higher.

Finally, the price stabilized as no new bids came.

"Three million and two hundred thousand Primal Stones going once," Master Feng called. "Going twice..."

Silence. No one challenged it.

"Sold for three million and two hundred thousand Primal Stones!"

The hammer fell and the deal was done.

Three million and two hundred thousand. That amount was worth a mid-tier Mystic grade weapon. A treasure that could hold the fort for low-tier factions and define their strength.

For the Rising Dragon Auction, Kael realized, the first item couldn’t be too bad or too good. It needed to set the right tone by bringing a small surprise and getting people excited, but not exhausting their resources immediately.

It was a smart and professional idea. Exactly what you’d expect from the Azure Sky Pavilion’s extension.

The second and third items followed quickly.

Both were rare materials considered as cultivation resources—things used in alchemy or artifact crafting. Although they weren’t as dramatic as the Ice Essence Spiritual Fluid, they were still valuable. At least low-tier Mystic grade level.

Each sold for respectable amounts. Over a million stones each. The auction was moving smoothly.

Then Master Feng’s expression changed slightly. His smile widened and became more anticipatory.

"Hehehe, the next two items are quite special," he said. His voice carried amusement and excitement. "They come from the famous Black Hawk Pirate..."

He purposely dragged out the words, building tension.

Black Hawk Pirate!

Another wave of discussion erupted from the crowd, louder than before and more energetic.

"The Black Hawk?"

"That legendary thief?"

"I heard he robbed three mid-tier factions before disappearing!"

"I thought he was hunted down and killed five years ago."

"Didn’t someone kill his disciples recently?"

The name carried weight. A reputation of fear and respect mixed together.

The beauty in green stepped forward. She carried a large object covered in silk cloth and placed it carefully on the pedestal, then pulled the cloth away with a flourish. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

A musical instrument appeared. A qin. It looked traditional and beautiful. It was made from what looked like bamboo but somehow crystallized and well preserved. The strings gleamed with inner light.

"One of these items is the Sky Bamboo Nine Sound Qin," Master Feng announced. His voice filled with dramatic flair. "An instrument of entertainment which possesses remarkable healing properties. By playing it, one can heal injuries of the heart. Emotional trauma and Spiritual wounds."

He gestured at the qin with obvious appreciation.

"But that is not all. Experts of the Dao of Entertainment can use this qin to send out critical attacks of pure Sound Qi. In the past, an Entertainment Master used this very qin to save his entire faction. He raised the morale of his clan while killing enemies invisibly and saved them from complete destruction."

Master Feng summarized the item’s history and legend with obvious relish. Making it sound as impressive as possible.

Kael sat frozen in his seat. His eyes widened and his breath caught in his throat. He knew this qin particularly well because he’d gave it to the Rising Dragon Auction just hours ago to be auctioned off.

He’d acquired it after killing a bandit leader in the mountains and had thought it was just a nice instrument that was maybe worth something. But he hadn’t realized its full history and its true value.

The Rising Dragon Auction had somehow identified it. They had researched its background and knew exactly what it was and where it came from.

Their information network was terrifying and comprehensive. They’d taken a random item from a seller and immediately connected it to historical records. To the Black Hawk Pirate.

At the same moment, in one of the visible Esteemed Guest stands, movement erupted.

"Sky Bamboo Nine Sound Qin?" A female voice carried from that box, sounding angry and shocked. "Isn’t this the precious qin of our Celestial Harp Pavilion?"

Another older male voice joined. "This qin was stolen by that Black Hawk pirate decades ago. We’ve been searching for it ever since."

A third voice sounded determined. "I didn’t think the Sky Bamboo Nine Sound Qin would appear at an auction like this. We must retrieve it. At any cost."

The Celestial Harp Pavilion were ranked twentieth in the top fifty factions under the Aurelian Empire’s influence. A high-tier power specialized in sound-based cultivation techniques. They were Entertainment Dao masters.

This just got complicated.

"The Sky Bamboo Nine Sound Qin’s starting price is two million and four hundred thousand Primal Stones," Master Feng announced smooth and professionally. As if he hadn’t heard the outburst. "Every bid must be at least ten thousand higher than the last."

The hammer raised, ready to fall and start the bidding.

Kael sat back in his chair, staying silent and hidden behind his privacy formation.

He wondered quietly how high the final amount would climb. How much he would receive for this item. After the auction house’s five percent commission, of course.

The Celestial Harp Pavilion would bid. That much was certain. This was their stolen treasure. Their history. They’d pay almost anything to get it back.

But would others bid too? And drive the price higher? To make it cost them more?

Kael’s lips curved into a slight smile. "This auction is already proving interesting. Very interesting indeed."

And they were only four items in.
