Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson-Chapter 236: Blind Strategist’s Trap
Shortly after realizing Eleanor’s intent, Leonard snorted coldly.
"You want a reward from me?" He raised an eyebrow and taunted. "I should have been the one asking you. Did you know how many resources I wasted to rescue you?"
Unfazed by the situation, Eleanor nodded.
"I know you wasted a lot. That’s why I’ve told my people to give all the loot to you as compensation. Was that not enough?" She inquired softly.
"Eh?" Dumbfounded, Leonard didn’t recall this part.
It took him a few seconds to realize that when Curtis was about to make the report, her butler had boarded their ship and invited them over.
Was it premeditated from the start?
Leonard felt a cold chill if this was indeed all planned to catch him by surprise.
"Hmph, what kind of loot could there be from those enemies?" He snapped.
"You know I’m the Crown Prince. My service isn’t cheap at all!"
"Hmm, then what does the Crown Prince want?" Eleanor pondered before moving her wheelchair even closer to him.
"How about I offer myself to you? But you will have to do all the movement. I’m blind, and my legs aren’t functioning well. You will have to be gentle with me since it’ll be my first time."
Great!
This was just fabulous!
Leonard had completely lost in this verbal sparring. Her condition, followed by her boldness without any shame, was a deadly combination.
If he were to pursue any further compensation, then news of his bullying and taking advantage of a blind woman would be spread.
Who would believe his defense by then?
"Talking to you is like talking to a brick." Leonard facepalmed and deigned to continue communicating with her.
A few seconds later, he turned around and wanted to leave the room.
This was her territory, so he was at a natural disadvantage from the start. And now that she acted completely out of place, he must flee immediately.
"Why isn’t the door opening?" Leonard tried to pull the handle, but it wouldn’t budge at all. Even when he gradually increased his strength, there was no movement.
"Oh, whoops, because I’m blind and somewhat crippled, the security in my room has increased." Eleanor suddenly appeared from behind and giggled.
"The door wouldn’t open without a specific item. But I can’t remember where I placed it. Would Leon be kind enough to assist me?"
’Leon?’ He felt goosebumps appearing in his arms.
"Seriously, what do you want from me?" Finally enduring enough, Leonard completely broke down and asked her directly. These kinds of verbal games weren’t fun when the opponent was completely out of the game’s rules.
"Does Leon really not know what I want by now?" Eleanor extended her hand and held his sleeve.
"I want you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t think that anyone who could speak such disrespectful words to me would survive till the next day, right?"
Leonard’s body jolted slightly.
What a sweet yet laced with subtle threat dialogue.
Still, he must keep his previous trait intact and feign ignorance of her implications.
"You want me?" Leonard pointed at himself and laughed. "We didn’t even know each other until today, and you want me? Is your brain okay, Blind Strategist?"
He had heard from Mirelle that many referred to Eleanor as the Great Strategist of Xundraeth. But those who secretly despised her would privately refer to her as the Blind Strategist as an insult.
Needless to say, these people were discovered and beheaded, granted their status and influence weren’t significant enough.
"Blind Strategist?" Eleanor curled her lips upward. "I didn’t know Leon paid so close attention to my affairs. Is there anything else you wish to know about me but failed to learn?"
’Seriously? You’re not even mad and still so enthusiastic?’ At this moment, he had reasonable doubt about Mirelle’s words.
"Are you not mad?" He openly asked in a skeptical tone.
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" Amused, Eleanor once again moved her wheelchair closer to him.
"I can’t possibly get mad at you. But keep this in mind, Leon. Only you can call me that. If it’s anyone else, including your subordinates, then I’ll be mad." She continued, exuding a very faint killing intent. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Have we met before?"
"Naturally. I would answer when and where we met, but then that would dull the reunion."
"You came to the Valdoria Continent for what?"
Upon hearing this question, Eleanor didn’t answer right away but extended her smooth and slender hand.
As if afraid he wouldn’t understand her meaning, she made sure to clarify precisely what she wanted.
"Let me hold your hand as a reward if you want to hear the truth."
Leonard stared at her in disbelief. He waved his hand in front of her a few times to see if she was hallucinating something or not.
"Is there something in my face?" Eleanor suddenly asked.
"You can see me waving my hands?"
"I’m blind in the eyes but not in my other senses."
She then moved her hand up and down a few times. "You wouldn’t keep my hand hanging in the air, right? I won’t be mad, but I will be disappointed and sad that you might dislike my hand."
"..."
Another moral kidnapping!
Despite this, Leonard decided to hold her hand. He was also curious why someone of her status had come to the Valdoria Continent.
Doesn’t she know how dangerous it was?
She might even lose her life here!
As Leonard gently held her hand, he could feel the smooth and silky texture. It was almost intoxicating to have physical contact with her.
Just when he was a bit lost in the moment, Eleanor suddenly took advantage and interlocked her fingers with his.
Her action quickly startled Leonard, who tried to pull away until she began talking.
"I came here for two main reasons. One is for you, and the other is to let the rats come out from their hiding hole."
"So I’m just a cover-up or a shield for your second reason?"
"No, Leon. The rats are my excuse to come here and meet with you."
