Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 136: Let’s Go Hunting (7)
In the choice between efficiency and safety, everyone chose efficiency.
There was nothing more to say, Ye Nai happily packed up the excavator and forklift, released a large number of spores to guard herself, and took off on her motorbike.

Yesterday she promised not to go beyond the communication range, and she must respond when called on the walkie-talkie; otherwise, she would be considered to have run off again, and upon returning she would face punishment—waiting for her were a hundred push-ups and spot jumping jacks.
Such a degree of punishment was nothing to Ye Nai, at most it was akin to a warm-up, but with a weight of 140 pounds and 139.5 pounds of rebelliousness, it was impossible for her not to run off.
She had made it clear from the very first day they met that she was not one to be disciplined.
She had released a large number of superpower spores the night before, enough to bring a large area under her control by morning.
She ordered the fungus to put small animals like hares and pheasants directly into Space, and only notify her when encountering mid- to large-sized mutants like wild boars, wild bulls, spiders, and Camel-hump Deer; snakes’ nests, wolf packs, and large feline mutant beasts were welcome, too.
Having entered and exited the Secret Realm so many times, she had never actually seen these top predators of the food chain, and Ye Nai was quite curious about where they usually hid.
After giving her orders, she focused on traveling to find a shady spot to nestle down for the day; the sun had come out, and with a cloudless sky, it looked to be a clear day.
No sooner had she given the orders than the merchandise started coming into Space.
It was as if the fungus had raided rabbit burrows and chicken nests; they came in groups, one after the other, of every possible variety—large ones, small ones, those that could fly, ground-walkers, those with long legs, those with short legs, and more—it was uncertain how wide an area her orders covered.
In this spring season of blooming flowers and proliferating animals, of course, there were eggs to be found—by the nestful, white, gray, speckled, black.
Ye Nai accepted all of them indiscriminately; no matter how oddly shaped, as long as they were edible, she refused nothing.
The mutant plants were, of course, a must. Those with economic value were kept for accounting, while active predatory mutant plant hunters were broken down and absorbed by the fungus to grow stronger.
She didn’t care at all about the possibility of driving species to extinction within the Secret Realm. After so many years of teams going in and out without causing extinction, her small amount of fungus certainly couldn’t have such a powerful effect. She would think about controlling the Secret Realm later; by then she would definitely adjust her strategies to ensure the Secret Realm continuously made money for her.
After riding over the plains for about an hour, she finally saw a sparse grove of trees. Just as Ye Nai was about to dive in, the spores surrounding her formed a small, guiding torrent similar to the day before.
Without a second thought, Ye Nai turned and rode towards the direction the spores pointed her to.
After running for more than ten minutes, Ye Nai was surprised to see a large spider feeding.
Unlike the type of spider she had eaten before, this one was completely black, but with gold stripes extending down from its body to its legs—she couldn’t see if there were any on its body because it was too big.
This giant spider was preying on a wild boar.
Moreover, it had captured a male, while two female boars were leisurely rooting around for food not far away, indifferent to the fate of the male.
Both were hefty creatures, kicking up clouds of dust as they fought.
The big male boar had only one attack—charging. It had knocked the giant spider over several times, but the spider was quick to get back on its feet each time, adeptly trying to stomp on the male boar with its eight nimble legs.
The male boar’s hide was thick and tough, and the spider’s legs, capable of impaling prey and pinning it to the ground, were somehow ineffectual against the boar, slipping off after striking almost every time.
Neither could gain the upper hand.
Just as Ye Nai was thinking about sneaking in to snatch an easy advantage, she saw the giant spider change tactics and start shooting webs.
The flexible and sticky spider silk proved to be the ultimate move. There was so much of it, and it came out so fiercely that at first, the male boar managed to break free after several charges, but as it tried to escape, it would get stuck in the webs and be dragged back.
Unable to free itself, the boar cried out frantically.
The female boars carried on searching for food unconcernedly and even moved further away when the male got too close.
As more and more webs were sprayed onto it, the male boar’s struggles grew slower and weaker, until gradually it became a large cocoon wrapped in spider silk.
The sow was reluctant to leave this bountiful spot, and when one found something tasty to eat, it would grunt to call another over.
The spider paid no attention to the two sows, dragging away its prey.
Ye Nai also had no interest in the sows—they weren’t carrying piglets, so she decided to leave them for breeding.
Seeing the spider walk away, she started her motorcycle and followed slowly behind.
However, unexpectedly, after following for a while, the voices in the walkie-talkie became intermittent.
Ye Nai was startled and quickly turned back, at which point the walkie-talkie’s communication returned to normal.
Although hunting was important, she would still prefer to avoid a hundred push-ups and on-the-spot frog jumps if she could, right?
She released spores to continue the chase and then took off the walkie-talkie, pressing the talk button.
"Hello, hello, everyone."
There was a moment of silence in the walkie-talkie, the noise ceased, and the captains’ voices emerged.
"Xiao Yezi, if there’s something to say, just say it."
"I’ve spotted a giant spider that’s hunting, it dragged away an adult boar, I plan to follow it and check it out."
"Hello, hello, don’t mess around, where are you? We’ll come over!"
"Don’t worry, I’m just taking a look. If I get the chance, I’ll scoop them up with my space, and won’t fight them."
"Ah…?"
"Can a Space Awakened hunt like that?"
"That’s an advantage exclusive to a Big Space User. Once the space is open, everything can be packed inside." Ye Nai laughed heartily.
"Be careful."
"Don’t worry, this is a vast plain, and the spiders nest underground. The space is limited, and given their size, they simply can’t breed in large numbers. It’d be a different story if it were a Heavenly Pit connected to an underground cavern though."
Ye Nai wasn’t inexperienced in looting spider nests. The last time she ate spider legs, they were her reward in name, but actually, she had cleared out that spider’s nest, feeding all the spider egg sacs to fungus.
She knew well how many spiders of such size an Earth Cave could accommodate.
She hung up the communication and started her motorcycle to catch up.
The noisy walkie-talkie soon fell silent, completely out of communication range.
With spores guiding the way ahead, Ye Nai would chase a bit then stop, worried that pressing too close might threaten the giant spider, causing it to turn around and confront her.
This chase lasted nearly an hour before she finally saw the giant spider reaching the entrance of an Earth Cave.
Another spider of the same pattern but larger size already occupied that spot.
The slightly smaller spider respectfully presented its hauled prey.
The larger one lifted a leg, its tip sharp as a dagger, easily cutting open the silk cocoon that hadn’t frayed from the dragging. Only upon seeing the prey inside did it raise its body, pushing the prey into the cave behind with several legs powering the movement.
The two spiders then excitedly danced together, intertwining with one another.
