Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 266: The Magical Spore that Keeps People from Dying
The warriors, who had been worried about running out of bullets before they could wipe out this enemy troop, suddenly felt they could take them down.
Ye Nai drove closer, retracting the boulder through the air, the enemy underneath, though not killed by the impact, only stunned—tough skin and thick flesh were resistant to beatings. He quickly used spores to take advantage of his weakened state, causing him to bleed from all orifices, making it look as if he had been crushed to death by the rock.
Then, the boulder was thrown out again, toppling another one.
This one wasn't hit in the head; it was struck from the back, leaving the head exposed.
"Quick, shoot him, he's not dead!"
Ye Nai drove with one hand, floored the accelerator, and carefully dodged the enemies charging at her, all while not forgetting to bellow out the window.
"I've got this!"
A warrior closest to that enemy rushed forward, inserted the gun barrel into the ear and fired two shots. The enemy, who had been struggling, immediately stopped moving and died for good.
"Good job, that's the tactic, you throw rocks, we'll follow with shots!"
The warriors ran off after finishing their shots. Ye Nai retracted the boulder and aimed at a third person to smash down.
The warriors ran back again, shot, and then ran off again.
Ye Nai retracted the boulder and smashed again.
The warriors shot again.
Smash again.
Shoot again.
The twenty-man enemy vanguard squad, except for the few killed by the warriors at the beginning, after Ye Nai joined and found the right tactics and rhythm, were gradually worn down and killed one by one.
Towards the end, it was apparent the enemy had become desperate; their movements were deformed, completely disorganized, and the once-feared sword movements could not be executed. When the boulder fell, they didn't dodge or resist, just lay on the ground after being toppled, closing their eyes to await the final shot.
After sending the last enemy off, the warriors, not concerned with the bloodshed on the ground, collapsed, sitting down to catch their breath.
But even their rest was unsettled, their minds still on the casualties placed behind their vehicle. However, their energy depletion was so great that getting up again after sitting down proved difficult.
Ye Nai drove back around and slowly approached where the warriors had stopped.
There used to be ten in their squad; now only five were left, holding their guns and gasping for air.
"Thank you, if it hadn't been for you, we would have all fallen here today," said a warrior who appeared to be the captain, saluting Ye Nai.

"No need for thanks, killing the enemy is everyone's duty."
Ye Nai got out of the car and, in front of them, stored the large off-road vehicle into Space, then took out a folding table designated for water dispensers, followed by a 1.5-liter household glass pitcher and a box of electrolyte replenishment mix.
"You've all expended a lot of energy, drink up and rest for a while, I'll go check on the casualties."
Following the instructions for use, one packet of the powder mixed with one liter of water, Ye Nai deftly prepared a batch, stirred until it dissolved, then poured it into five paper cups, stuffing a cup into each person's hand, before she took out her Beginner First Aider certificate, showed it to them briefly, and then headed towards the back of the military vehicle where the wounded were placed.
"My God, luck is on our side today; we've encountered a miracle worker!"
"A Space Awakened, skilled in battle and first aid, sought after by any strong team when they put up their resume—yet they choose to go solo? Truly a formidable being."
Ye Nai circled around to the back of the vehicle where all five of the wounded were being kept alive by spores, but there was a need for swift action as the situation was still dangerous.
The wounded couldn't be moved, so she first stowed the obstructive military vehicle into her Space, then changed directions and released it again, startling the five warriors who were just drinking the electrolyte solution, as in the blink of an eye, their vehicle had switched places.
Immediately after, Ye Nai set up an electric awning, enclosing the wounded beneath it, then near the curtain she placed ten foldable beds, made them up with disposable bed sheets, and laid the five injured down on these beds for the time being.
In the center of the awning, she put out an outdoor surgery room, a long sink, and two trash bins, one for ordinary waste and one for medical waste.
The outdoor surgery room was divided into two parts, a larger one fitted with bulletproof glass doors for the operating room, and a smaller one for a changing room with a standard door.
The surgery bed was placed in the center of the operating room, and other equipment and supply cabinets were as well stocked, mainly designed for easy operation by a single person.
This was independent of her clinic's operating room and used depending on the situation.
Then she brought out a gurney, made it up with a sheet, lifted a severely wounded onto it, stripped them down, and pushed it outside the operating room, then carried the wounded into the operating room and onto the surgery bed before she washed her hands, changed clothes and shoes, and started the operation.
If this were peacetime, such an operating room would barely pass as an emergency debridement room, hardly meeting the basic standards of sterility, but in this wartime state, it was sufficient to use instruments once per person to reduce the risk of surgical infections.
As she operated on the first wounded, outside under the awning, the warriors who had finished their electrolyte solutions and regained some strength quietly lifted the curtain and came inside.
"Oh my heavens!" they whispered in awe. "Is this person an entire logistics and medical support team rolled into one?"
"Shush, keep it down. There's an operation happening inside, don't disturb them."
"Come on, everyone get moving, wash your hands, strip the wounded, and bring the tables over from outside."
The five immediately sprang into action, bringing in the foldable table and water cooler from outside and placing them by the foldable beds, then they removed their clothes, washed their hands thoroughly, and stripped the wounded.
During this process, they noticed that the wounded had stopped bleeding and their breathing had stabilized; they thought the injuries were just frightening to look at, and a wave of relief washed over everyone. Although they were not afraid to make sacrifices, if their whole squad could return intact as they had departed, that was of course preferable.
Inside the operation room, Ye Nai confidently went about her work; for the first time she used spores without any reservations to repair human tissue. Severed tendons were manually aligned, damaged internal organs were pinched together, and spores entered the wounds, growing new muscle tissue to repair the damaged areas literally from the inside out, layer by layer, leaving her to only suture the outermost surface.
However, the energy required for spores to repair the body, like stem cells, didn't materialize out of thin air; it needed a source, either using the wounded's own reserves of fat and protein or an external supply.
Quietly, on the opposite side of the surgery bed where others couldn't see, Ye Nai placed a bucket filled with Mutant Beast Meat from her Space reserves. The spores broke down the Mutant Beast Meat, not growing into fungus, then carried this energy back to the wound to provide the energy needed for repair.
In this way, without consuming the wounded's own resources, those grievous wounds were mostly healed, leaving only the ugly and twisted scars of the stitches on the surface of the body.
They still needed time to recuperate, but they wouldn't have any lasting aftereffects, and after healing, they would be as good as new.
Fortunately, they were all well-trained active warriors with agile movements; they had been severely wounded by enemy sword movements while on the move, but none had limbs severed. Otherwise, if she had to perform limb reattachment single-handedly, that would truly be a miracle.
After treating the wounded, Ye Nai removed her gloves, pressed the switch on the door to open the glass doors, and the warriors who had been waiting outside immediately came to assist. At her direction, they made up the gurney outside the door with a disposable sheet. Ye Nai carried the wounded out from inside, attached an IV stand, inserted needles for an IV drip, and had the warriors push the gurney to transfer the wounded onto the foldable beds, and then brought in another injured for treatment.
