Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 318: Go down together
’’Eat more. You have turned thin. Stop looking at the bed as if you can barely resist eating me.’’
"_" You win!
’’Al..’’
’’Mmm?"
’’What do you intend to do after this ends? Visteria is in ruins and the castle is empty...’’
As Esme trailed off, Aleister arched a brow, ’’We can restore the kingdom, make it back to how it was. Uncle will be taking over the throne rightfully. And after that, we need to drag your brother down from the Serpent palace and take him back to Nevesray. Because of everything that transpired in the past year, you have yet to visit Aunt and Arlan. We can go back to see them.’’
Esme lowered her head to look at the glass of wine in her hand, her fingers trailing around the rims of the glass, ’’Have this...?"
Aleister grabbed the glass from her hand without hesitation, ’’You are unsatisfied with what I said?"
Esme shook her head.
He sipped the wine and reached out to hold her hand, ’’Back then, things were complicated. You had to be rude to Aunt to send her away so that you can protect her. But I believe she will understand.’’
’’She is not your Aunt,’’ Esme corrected him.
’’Yet. She is not my Aunt,’’ Aleister smirked as he added unabashedly, ’’...yet.’’
As minutes passed by, their voices grew softer and softer until Esme was quietly sitting in the chair and watching Aleister who had his head placed on the table, his eyes were closed, his long fingers still firmly curled around her palm, providing her warmth.
Esme pushed the chair back and stood up. She slowly took her hand back, watching it slip out of his grasp.
Esme walked around the table and approached him. She lowered her body and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, ’’Sleep well, Al.’’
The moment she turned to walk away, two shadows disappeared from beside the window.
Esme stopped in her tracks for a moment and gazed towards the window. It was not surprising that Jeremiah left his moles around to keep an eye on her.
When Esme walked out of Aleister’s room, she was met with Jeremiah who was still standing at the same spot where she had last seen him.
Esme closed the door behind her and looked at Aleister’s guards, ’’Do not bother him. He wants to rest.’’
’’Yes,’’ the guards obeyed with their heads lowered.
As Esme turned to leave, Jeremiah stalked after her.
’’I am pleased, Es. You acted without making him suspicious. Have you always been this clever?" his fingers reached out to play with the loose strands of her hair.
’’If you lay a finger on me, I would refrain from thinking of consequences,’’ Esme stopped in her tracks, glancing at his hand that had halted mid-air at some point, ’’And take your life.’’
’’You can do nothing to me,’’ Jeremiah smirked but the smirk was wiped off his face when she nodded.
’’If so, then we will both go down together,’’ Esme smiled.
But the smile did not reach her eyes.
Till a few hours ago, she was still pretending to be the naive person Jeremiah had known this whole time and now that the truth was revealed, he realized how different she was from what she had been portraying herself as.
’’Interesting,’’ he put his hand down, and pointed his chin towards her room, ’’Go inside. And sleep. It is past midnight. Do no go around roaming in the castle. Do not meet anyone and do not talk to anyone.’’
Esme’s fingers curled into a fist, ’’You want to cage me?"
’’No, Es,’’ Jeremiah feigned shock, ’’Perhaps you have been a human for too long which is why you have yet to understand the rules of the sea and this castle. You are getting married to me. You have to stay behind closed doors till the moment of marriage and pray to our god for my well being.
’’Your death, you mean?"
Jeremiah’s face hardened but he forced a smile, ’’Think what you are talking about. Do you really believe that I am scared of you? Even if you sacrifice your life, you cannot harm me in the slightest. It will be waste for you to die. Not to mention that even if you die, your sacrifice would go in vein. Along with you, countless subjects of Visteria and Nevesray will be gone. Your family will die and the castle of Nevesray will become ruins just as what happened in Visteria. Do you want that?" As he spoke and watched her face paling gradually, his forced smile became natural, ’’Would you want your body to rest above countless corpses? If that is what you desire, I shall truly fulfill that wish of yours.’’
Esme looked at him emotionlessly before she turned around and walked inside her room. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Jeremiah leaned back on a pillar. He was not fazed by her nonchalance for his gaze never once left the blood that dripped on the floor. Her nails dug into her palms so hard that both of hands were bleeding yet she walked inside her room with a straightened back, every step more powerful than ever.
’’Silly me for thinking that she would make an uninteresting wife,’’ The more she stood straight, the more he wanted to bend her.
His lips curled up in a twisted smile, his gaze maniacal. She would be such a good slave to him.
As soon as Esme entered her room, she was greeted by the maids who were assigned to serve her.
Rose and Rory greeted her, ’’My Lady, we have prepared for the ritual bath before the sacred wedding. Shall we...’’
’’Leave.’’
’’But my lady, we need to serve you...’’
Esme’s gaze snapped to their faces, ’’I. Said. Leave,’’ her hand swung in the air, striking a tall flower vase which crashed on the floor and shattered into pieces.
A few pieces of the broken porcelain pierced into Esme’s hand, and droplets of blood appeared on her fair skin, staining her grown.
