Chapter 110: Chapter 110: My Son May Have Been Rescued

Mrs. Nash could only see Mrs. Sterling’s profile, but she still couldn’t help taking a few extra glances.

How could there be two people who look so alike.

She couldn’t help but ask, "Chloe, who is that person?"

"She’s Jett Sterling’s stepmother, her name is Claire Channing. Do you know her?"

Hearing this name, Mrs. Nash was a bit confused.

Could there really be people this similar in the world?

Maybe so. The person she knew didn’t go by that name, and she certainly wasn’t some wealthy wife.

She immediately shook her head: "How could I know her? Come on, hurry up and drink this chicken soup. Just think how long you’ve been hungry. When we get home, I’ll cook a couple of your favorite dishes."

When she saw the mother and daughter leave arm-in-arm, Mrs. Sterling finally let herself relax; the tense string in her heart slowly unwound.

There isn’t anyone left in this world who knows about her past—except for Susan Sawyer.

She absolutely can’t let anyone destroy the happiness she has now.

A sharp glint flashed across Mrs. Sterling’s heart.

——

Chloe had been busy with back-to-back surgeries for days; she didn’t even have time to deal with Julian.

That day, she’d just stepped out of the operating room when her phone rang.

On the other end came Silas’s low voice: "Dr. Nash, when are you planning to pay me back that dinner you owe?"

Chloe finally remembered that last time, Silas had saved her and she’d promised to treat him to dinner.

She thought so many days had passed that he’d surely forgotten.

But he still remembered, clear as day.

She glanced at her phone’s calendar: "I have no surgery tomorrow. Bring Julian, I’ll treat you both to dinner—pick the place."

Hearing her say this, Silas let out a quiet chuckle, "I’m the one who saved you, not Julian. Why are you inviting him? Dr. Nash, are you avoiding having dinner with me alone?"

Chloe really wanted to say: Congratulations, you got it.

Having dinner alone with Silas—if she slipped up even a little, she might expose herself as Sienna Paxton.

But she pretended to stay calm: "I also promised Julian, once I finish these surgeries, I’d treat him. Three people is just more lively, isn’t it?"

"I don’t like lively. Tomorrow night, just us two. You can schedule Julian’s dinner for another time."

He’d finally gotten the chance to have a real date with Chloe—he wasn’t about to drag Julian, that little third wheel, along.

If that kid’s there, he can’t even get a word in with Chloe.

Seeing how insistent he was, Chloe had to give in: "Fine, you pick the restaurant and let me know once you’ve booked it."

Less than a minute after hanging up, a message popped into Chloe’s phone.

It was Silas sending her the restaurant address.

Chloe replied with a simple OK.

Then she made her way toward the office.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw a tall, imposing figure standing by the window.

The man wore a gray suit, his legs long and straight.

One hand braced on the balcony, gazing out over the street below.

Hearing her come in, the man slowly turned around, a hint of a smile on his handsome face.

"Surprise!"

When Chloe saw his face clearly, her eyes widened in astonishment.

"Caden Sinclair?"

Caden opened his arms and walked over to Chloe, bending down to hug her: "Well? Did I scare you?"

"When did you get here? Why didn’t you tell me? I would’ve picked you up at the airport."

Caden was Chloe and Sienna’s comrade back in the war zone; back then, he was the one who carried Sienna out after she fainted, the one who literally watched Sienna become Chloe.

The friendship between the three of them ran deep.

They would’ve died for each other, no question. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Caden gave Chloe’s back a playful pat: "Sienna, you doing okay?"

Hearing that familiar nickname, Chloe’s eyes turned misty.

Seeing him made her think of those days when the three were always together.

Her voice was a little choked: "Don’t call me that here. I’m afraid Silas will get suspicious."

Caden looked at her with concern: "That lunatic hasn’t caused trouble for you, right? If he does, I’ll teach him a lesson."

"No, everything’s fine. I’m just waiting for his son’s illness to stabilize before I go back."

"What if, during this time, Silas figures out you’re actually Sienna? Would you still be able to leave? How about you just come with me this time—his son’s illness has nothing to do with you. You’ve already done more than enough for him."

Chloe shook her head: "The kid’s really sweet. I don’t want my leaving to affect his recovery. Two or three more months and he should be alright."

Caden tapped Chloe’s head: "Do you think I don’t know you? You must be pouring all your longing for your baby into him, right? Chloe, don’t be silly. He’s Silas’s kid with another woman. He doesn’t have anything to do with you at all."

"I know. I just want to see him grow up healthy."

"It’s your call. I won’t butt in. I’ll be here for two months—if you need anything, I’m here. By the way, I heard someone say that the year that mercenaries raided, a group risked their lives to break into the war zone and rescued several people. Maybe your baby got saved."

Hearing that, Chloe’s eyes immediately brimmed with tears: "Are you serious? What kind of people were they? Can you get in touch with them?"

Seeing her like this, Caden gently tapped her head: "Don’t get too worked up—it’s only a possibility. The organization’s called The Nightingales; internationally, they’re infamous. They can kill silently, or they can save people—there’s nothing they can’t do. That time, they were under contract, looking for someone in the war zone. But it’s almost impossible for ordinary people to reach them."

Chloe didn’t know how to describe her feelings at that moment.

It was like hope burnt to ashes suddenly sparked to life.

She knew the chance her son had been rescued was slim—but just maybe, heaven would show her mercy and let her son survive.

Thinking of the possibility, Chloe’s tears streamed down uncontrollably.

She grabbed Caden’s arm, crying and pleading: "Caden, can you help me find that organization? I just want to ask if my son was one of the people they saved."

Seeing her cry made Caden feel utterly helpless.

He quickly pulled out a tissue and handed it to Chloe: "Don’t cry. I knew as soon as I told you, you’d be dying for me to look into it. I’m already trying to reach people—if I hear anything, I’ll let you know."

Chloe, still crying, nodded her thanks: "Thank you, Caden. This is the best news I’ve heard in years."

"But don’t get your hopes up too much, okay? We’re just looking. If it’s a dead end, you’re not allowed to pass out again like last time."

"I know. Come on, dinner’s on me tonight."

The two of them went off to a private kitchen. Coincidentally, Silas was scheduled to meet his friend there for business.

Getting out of the car, Silas spotted Chloe walking into the restaurant, laughing and chatting with some other man.

Seeing that, Silas’s temples started throbbing in anger.

Chloe, nice job!
