Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Chloe Nash Shouts, "Brother, You Can’t Die

Chloe Nash stepped into the villa once more, her feelings a jumble of emotions.

Silas Prescott had brought her here many times, every corner here marked by traces of their love.

It was here she learned to swim, to ride horses, and to play golf.

But the skills Silas Prescott taught her came at a price.

The swimming pool, the horseback rides, the golf course.

Each new place unlocked filled Silas with excitement.

Remembering these moments, Chloe’s heart couldn’t help but race with anxiety.

Suddenly, Owen Paxton’s voice echoed in her ears: "Dr. Nash, President Prescott is by the pool, please go check on him. I’ve bought the fever and anti-inflammatory medications, they’re on the coffee table in the living room. I’m headed back now; if anything comes up, call me."

Chloe knew this was Silas Prescott’s personal territory, and he disliked anyone stepping even a foot inside.

Not even his long-time assistant was allowed.

She nodded, opened the car door, and immediately saw Silas Prescott reclining on a deck chair by the pool.

Surrounded by several empty bottles.

A large bloodstain seeped through his white shirt.

Seeing this, Chloe quickly rushed forward, snatching the bottle from Silas’s hand.

Her voice was filled with anger: "Silas, are you insane? Drinking so much with a fever! You can’t even take your medications now."

Upon hearing her voice, Silas’s dark eyes slowly lifted, revealing an undisguisable hurt.

He grasped Chloe’s hand, a sorrowful sound escaping his throat.

"Will you sit with me for a while?"

Chloe reached out to touch his forehead, feeling the burning temperature, she glared at him irritably.

"If you want me by your side, wait until your wounds are tended to."

Silas obediently nodded once: "Alright, I’ll do as you say."

"Wait here, I’ll go get the first aid kit."

Chloe hurriedly walked toward the living room.

Watching her retreating figure, Silas’s lips curled into a bitter smile.

"Soon I’ll know if you’re really my Sienna."

With the first aid kit in hand, Chloe carefully unbuttoned Silas’s shirt.

Seeing the dense scars made her heart ache involuntarily.

Clearly, there were more scars than the last time she saw him.

Freshly carved into his skin was the word ’Sienna’, with the wound still bleeding.

Seeing her name appear in such a way left Chloe at a loss for words.

She felt stirred, heartbroken, but more than anything, helpless.

She knew that as long as she returned to Silas’s side, he would cease self-harm.

Yet doing so would leave her to bear the torment.

Days suffused with a dampness in the very air, suffocating her.

She craved freedom, a space of her own, family, friends.

Not wanting her choices to bring harm to them.

Resolving herself, Chloe reined in her emotions, using a cotton swab to dab medication onto Silas’s wounds.

Silas’s deep, dark eyes stayed fixed on her.

Five years ago, Sienna had tended to him just as cautiously. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

But back then, as she applied the medicine, tears of pain streamed down her face.

Chloe was cold and indifferent by comparison.

Feeling his burning gaze, Chloe rolled her eyes at him.

"Why not just stab a knife directly in? Then you could end it all."

Silas’s expression turned somber: "I can’t die yet. I haven’t found my Sienna. If I’m gone and she’s still alive, it’d break her heart."

Hearing this, Chloe’s fingers trembled slightly.

But she quickly regained composure: "But tormenting your body like this, excessive bleeding could be fatal."

Silas’s laugh was bitter: "I can’t find Sienna. I fear she’ll forget me, so I’ve carved her name closest to my heart. I want her to feel my heart beating for her, that I’m waiting for her return."

His voice was raspy, laced with a chilling sorrow.

Making Chloe’s eyes feel an involuntary heat.

She suppressed her aching heart, finishing bandaging his wounds.

Then she told him matter-of-factly: "You’ve been drinking, so you can’t take fever meds. You’ll have to settle for physical cooling."

Raising an eyebrow, she looked at Silas.

Finding him silent, eyes closed.

Chloe nudged him lightly: "Silas, wake up."

But Silas showed no response, and Chloe realized he had fainted from the fever.

She immediately hefted his arm, struggling to lift him, wanting to get him back inside.

In her effort to stand up, she watched as the unconscious Silas tumbled into the pool.

With a splash, he sank into the water.

No struggle, just sinking to the bottom.

Seeing this, Chloe panicked completely.

Drunkenness, coupled with feverish fainting, both could be the death of Silas.

Kneeling by the pool’s edge, she shouted: "Silas, Silas."

Silas remained unresponsive, and Chloe watched as his tall figure lay at the pool’s bottom.

She truly panicked; if he wasn’t rescued quickly, Silas would die.

Without thinking further, she dove into the water.

Swimming toward Silas with urgency.

Swimming and shouting: "Brother, you can’t die."
