Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 206: Grandpa, I’m Here Too
Hearing this, Nathaniel Thorne just smiled.
He knew that Silas Prescott was always jealous of his relationship with Sienna Paxton; in the past, he would never have easily handed Sienna over to him.
He would have fought with Silas for supremacy.
But during the time when Silas lost his memory, Nathaniel could see the light in their eyes when they looked at each other.
In the face of true love, his crush might always remain buried in his heart.
Nathaniel glanced at the time, then stood up and said, "I have a meeting later. You can stay with Sienna for dinner; I’m going to leave now."
Silas had no intention of stopping him and waved to Chase Hughes, "What are you still standing around for? See Captain Thorne off."
Chase pointed at him and cursed, "I came here to eat, not to be your servant."
"Um, Daisy, show the guest out."
Chase gritted his teeth, "I’ll help you see him off, but you owe me that bottle of wine later."
Silas looked at him dismissively, "Dream on, I saved that for when my brother-in-law was entertained at my wedding; it’s not for you."
Hearing him mention marriage with every other word, Sienna knew this man was getting jealous again.
She picked up a fork and offered him a piece of cake, "Eat something sweet to balance it out, or your teeth might rot from sourness."
Silas didn’t eat the cake; instead, he pinched her chin and said, "I need something sweeter."
After saying that, he kissed her on the lips before she could react.
Sienna was startled and quickly pushed him away, "Silas Prescott, can you have some dignity? There are other people around."
Silas chuckled deeply, "Oh, we’ll kiss again when the others leave, okay?"
While speaking, his eyes glanced at Nathaniel, who was already far away.
The declaration of ownership couldn’t be clearer.
Chase couldn’t watch any longer and couldn’t help but mock, ’Childish,’ as he led Nathaniel out.
One week later.
Sienna had just finished surgery when she received Nathaniel Thorne’s call.
"Sienna, I’m waiting for you at the hospital entrance. I found some leads on the investigation you asked for."
Upon hearing this, all of Sienna’s fatigue instantly vanished.
She quickly shed her white coat and said, "I’ll be right down."
She had performed a five-hour surgery and hadn’t even had a sip of water but grabbed her bag and rushed downstairs.
Exiting the hospital lobby, she immediately saw Nathaniel leaning against a black SUV.
His long fingers were holding a cigarette that hadn’t been smoked out.
The scent of male hormones wafted all over him.
A colleague who got off work at the same time couldn’t help but exclaim, "Wow, how is this man so handsome? He’s exactly what I envision my future husband to be. I want to ask him for his WeChat."
Sienna smiled, "If you want it, I’ll pass it to you later."
"You know him?"
"He’s my brother."
"Dr. Paxton, how lucky you are to have so many handsome and affluent brothers. Just one President Prescott is enough to make us envious, and now another soldier brother comes into the mix. You must remember me!"
Sienna smiled at her, "I’ll ask him for you. If he agrees, I’ll pass you his WeChat info; I have something to do, so I’m heading off."
She waved to her colleague and then ran towards Nathaniel.
She was already anxious to know what Nathaniel had discovered.
Was it news about her son, or had Old Mr. Sinclair been found?
When people are anxious, they often overlook potential dangers.
Just as she ran towards Nathaniel, a car suddenly sped towards her.
Seeing the car was about to hit Sienna, Nathaniel immediately discarded his cigarette, sprinting towards her.
He pulled her into his arms.
The car brushed past their clothes.
Nathaniel looked at Sienna nervously, "Did you get hurt anywhere?"
Sienna shook her head, "No, sorry, I was too anxious and didn’t notice the car."
"No matter how anxious, you need to be careful. Understand?"
"Yes, Brother Nathaniel, what did you find out?"
Nathaniel opened the passenger door, shielded Sienna’s head, and let her sit inside.
"Get in first, and I’ll explain as we drive."
As the car drove away from the hospital, Sienna couldn’t hold back anymore, "Brother Nathaniel, is the news you found bad?"
Nathaniel’s fingers tightened on the steering wheel, "I checked all DNA samples from age-appropriate children in the city; none matched a parent-child relationship with you. But I found Old Mr. Sinclair. Sienna, you don’t need to take that old monk’s words seriously. The battle back then was so intense you barely escaped; how could a child so young possibly survive? Why not focus on your health so you can conceive a child with Silas Prescott soon?"
This news made Sienna’s heart ache, yet filled her with hope.
Even though she knew finding her son based on a monk’s words was unlikely, rejection of the possibility still stung.
Tears inadvertently trailed down her cheeks.
Seeing her cry, Nathaniel quickly handed her a tissue and gently comforted, "Don’t be sad. Take care of your health; you’ll have plenty of children in the future."
As he said this, Sienna tightly gripped the necklace around her neck, "Maybe this child and I aren’t meant to have a mother-son bond. Brother Nathaniel, I’ve been dreaming of him lately; could it mean he still longs for this world? I want to find a place to bury him, let him live well in another world."
Nathaniel could see her hidden emotions in her eyes.
Feeling somewhat heartbroken, he said, "That child is yours and Silas Prescott’s. If you want to bury him, doing so together is another form of comfort for the child; after all, he is the father."
Sienna nodded, "I know, I’m just worried Silas has just recovered from his illness. Knowing of this child’s existence, he’ll blame and guilt himself."
"Then wait until his condition stabilizes before telling him. You’ll have to let him know eventually; this is the consequence of his actions, and it’s his responsibility to bear it. Whether he feels guilt or remorse, he owes you that, Sienna. You’ve already shouldered too much on your own, it’s time for him to learn everything."
"I know, I’ll find time to tell him." She sniffled, "Where’s Old Mr. Sinclair—is he available for consultation?"
Nathaniel handed her a document envelope, "He’s currently residing in a psychiatric hospital. Ever since his daughter Jade Sinclair took over the Sinclair Family, he was sent there, and hasn’t consulted since—runs around like he’s lost his mind. But I think things aren’t so simple; he’s the heir of a renowned medical family, how could he end up like this? There must be secrets unknown behind it."
Finding him finally only to learn he’s mentally ill left Sienna unsure how to feel.
She frowned, "In high society power struggles, anything can happen. I can find an excuse to check him out, maybe assess things further."
"That’s what I thought too. Next week, there’s a checkup scheduled at his psychiatric facility; I can arrange for you to sneak in and see what happens. But it’s at Southlands Fourth Psychiatric Hospital, so it’ll require travel."
"That’s no problem, as long as there’s even a glimmer of hope, I won’t let it slip away."
Sienna returned home, and Julian Prescott immediately ran towards her on his little legs.
He hugged her neck and gave her several kisses, then said, "Mommy, I gave the T-Rex you bought me last time to a friend. Can you buy me another one?"
Sienna pinched his cheek: "Why did you give it to him? Can you tell mommy?"
"Because he helped me out of a predicament."
Since he was little, he was afraid of needles. During a health check at kindergarten, he asked that friend to have a blood test in his place, in exchange for the T-Rex Sienna bought him.
Sienna nervously examined his body: "Did you encounter any danger in kindergarten? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Seeing his mom worried, Julian quickly reassured her: "Just a little danger, it’s over now. I’m fine, don’t be so tense, Mommy."
Upon hearing this, Sienna breathed a sigh of relief: "Okay, I’ll order another one for you later."
As the two were talking, Silas Prescott walked in from outside.
Several people followed behind him, carrying large and small bags.
He came to Sienna, took Julian from her arms, and set him on the ground, "You must not let your mommy carry you anymore; you’re so heavy, if she has a little sister, you’ll tire her out."
Julian widened his eyes, looking at Sienna’s belly, gently patting it with his chubby little hand.
He grinned: "Mommy, is there really a sister inside? Can I talk to her? I can sing to her every day, then she’ll be able to sing when she’s born."
Seeing his adorable expression, Sienna felt both comforted and a bit sad.
Whether she could give Julian a sister was still uncertain.
She could only hope that Old Master Sinclair didn’t really have a mental illness.
Otherwise, her last bit of hope would be extinguished.
Sienna smiled and rubbed his head, "Not yet, I’ll tell you when there is one."
Julian immediately turned his gaze to Silas, with a bit of disdain: "Daddy, are you not capable? In my class, Koko’s dad got her mom to have a baby in just a month, but it’s been more than two months for you, and Mommy still doesn’t have one. If you’re not capable, I’ll find someone else for Mommy."
Hearing this, Silas knocked on Julian’s head in exasperation: "You little rascal, wanting to replace your dad for a sister; don’t worry, by next month, you’ll have a sister."
As he spoke, he gently patted Sienna’s belly.
He leaned in to whisper in her ear: "Sienna, I guess I need to try harder, or our son will have me replaced."
How could Sienna not understand his implication?
They had not been using any prevention recently to conceive a child.
Sienna did her best to satisfy Silas’s desires.
Every morning, she felt her legs trembling.
If she tries harder, would she still have a life?
She nudged Silas: "What nonsense are you spouting in front of the kid? Are you ready for Grandpa’s birthday banquet tomorrow?"
"Of course, I’m not only prepared but there’s an extra big surprise for you."
He instructed the others, "Bring the items up."
Several people approached Sienna and opened their belongings.
With great respect, they said, "Miss Paxton, these are the dresses customized for you by President Prescott, the latest season’s style, the only one globally. Please try it on."
"Miss Paxton, these are the limited edition jewelry ordered for you by President Prescott. They will surely look stunning on you."
The dress was in Sienna’s favorite color, white, ethereal and adorned with sparkling diamonds.
The jewelry set was also in her favorite style, noble and with a romantic hue.
Seeing these, Sienna nervously clenched her fist.
She understood Silas’s intention. By dressing her so grandly, he intended to formally introduce her to the Prescott family and friends at Grandpa’s birthday banquet.
Thus officially confirming their relationship.
This was a scene Sienna had anticipated since the day she met Silas.
Yet, when the moment finally arrived, she hesitated.
If Silas walked her into Grandpa’s birthday banquet, it would establish her role as the future lady of the Prescott family.
This position came with many responsibilities.
Expanding the Prescott family was the utmost priority.
Yet, it was still uncertain whether she could conceive.
Not seeing the excitement he expected, Silas wrapped an arm around her shoulder, asking, "You don’t like it? If you don’t, we can choose again."
Sienna bit her lip: "Isn’t it too grand? I don’t want to stand out."
Silas ruffled her hair: "Silly, who should stand out if not the future lady of the Prescott family? I want everyone to see how beautiful my future wife is. Go try it on."
When Sienna came out of the dressing room, everyone present was stunned.
Lucy Rhodes, who just came back from outside, was amazed: "Let me see, whose fairy is this, looking so beautiful."
She grabbed Sienna’s hands, looking her up and down, "Sienna, you’re so pretty, I don’t even want my brother to marry you; I want us to be sisters for life."
Simone Prescott, who had just gotten off the plane, was also stunned by Sienna.
She approached, looked Sienna up and down, and smiled, "Our Sienna is still so pretty, just like a fairy from the sky."
Sienna politely embraced her, "Auntie, I missed you so much."
Hugging Sienna again, Simone felt myriad emotions.
Sienna was someone she had watched grow up, and hearing about her experiences, seeing her again tugged at Simone’s heartstrings.
She gently caressed Sienna’s head and said, "Sienna, I’ve always hoped you’d marry Silas. I thought your personalities matched so well, and now my wish has finally come true."
Sienna’s eyes grew a little moist: "Thank you, Auntie."
On the day of the banquet, seeing the whole family gathered, Old Master Prescott excitedly said, "I’m so happy on my eightieth birthday. Not only did I find my granddaughter-in-law, but also my blood grandson, Leo. We’ve finally reunited today. Lucy, gather everyone; let’s take a family photo before the guests arrive."
Lucy loved doing this kind of thing. She stood in the middle of the crowd, loudly asking, "Is there anyone missing? Hurry up, or we’ll leave you out."
Hearing this, everyone quickly gathered around.
Lucy did a headcount and then reported to Old Master Prescott.
"Report, Grandpa, the family is all here. Please inspect."
Old Master Prescott laughed heartily: "Are you sure everyone’s here? No one else is missing?"
As he finished speaking, a man’s voice suddenly came from outside the door.
"Grandpa, don’t forget me."
