Chapter 512: Lost

Asqa stared at Michael with hate burning behind her fading eyes.

She never thought that he will betrayed them because he was the one who had also been touched by the Ancient One’s power directly.

Had the Ancient One’s grasp on him weakened? Had Michael severed the link? Or was the Ancient One too focused on Clyde to even notice this betrayal?

The pain in Asqa’s chest was growing worse. It crawled through her nerves and began to blind her vision.

Her body was trembling, her limbs become heavy.

She grimaced through gritted teeth as Michael approached her step by step with sword ready in his hand.

His expression was calm. That cold certainty of a man who thought he had already won.

He looked back briefly over his shoulder, checking the distance. But no one was close. The others were keeping their distance.

Maybe they were too wary of her, or too cautious to interrupt. Either way, they gave him space.

Michael then raised an invisible barrier enclosing them. It kept every words out and in. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

When he stood before her, he lowered his sword slightly and spoke in a low voice.

"What is happening inside the mansion?" His tone wasn’t filled with anger. It was controlled, measured. "What is Clyde doing?"

Asqa met his gaze with defiance. Her mouth remained sealed. Her bloody lips trembled from the pain but refused to open.

"I’ll kill you if you don’t answer me," he said with voice devoid of any feeling.

Asqa coughed and let out a dry laugh.

"Why?" she asked. "Why are you betraying us?"

Michael stared at her for a moment. The light of his sword glowing faintly in the silent space between them.

"I was the one the Ancient One chose," he said quietly. "But then Clyde appeared. And he took everything. My place and my purpose."

Asqa’s eyes widened slightly. The truth was bitter. But she understood.

"You fool," she said, breathing hard. "Clyde was chosen from the very beginning. He carries the System. It was the will of the Ancient One Himself to gave it to him. You should have helped us, not turned against us!"

Michael’s face didn’t change. His eyes were cold. His grip on his sword didn’t loosen. There was no regret in his voice.

This was a man who had long let go of mercy for them and know that if he do it now he can ever turn back.

Asqa’s chest rose slowly as she realized what this meant.

She could no longer hold them back. She had reached her limit. This... was her end.

Sadness washed over her—not for herself, but for Clyde. She would die without saying goodbye. Without one final word and without knowing if he had made it through all of this or not.

She looked up at Michael with blood on her lips and smiled.

"If you kill me now, then prepare yourself," she said. "Because Clyde will come for you. When he does found you, you won’t get an easy death."

Michael froze for a moment. Her words hit him harder than he expected. A chill passed down his spine.

He didn’t doubt it. Deep down he knew that Clyde would come to him.

But it was too late now. Too far to turn back. Beside, Clyde won’t be able to face againts an entier higher Realms.

He raised his sword again, the golden blade burning with light, ready to end her life.

But Asqa wasn’t done.

Even if there was only a flicker of strength left in her, she would use it. She refused to die quietly.

With her last breath of magic, she let out a wave of thick and corrosive green smoke.

It burst from her body in all directions. It struck Michael in the chest and shoulder, melting parts of his armor before he could react.

He cursed and stepped back.

At that moment, Asqa poured out every last piece of her remaining strength.

Fire erupted from her palm. Lightning curled around her arms. Blades of wind slashed forward. Her spells lashed out in one directions.

Michael blocked them with difficulty, his arms burning, his armor dripping the metal that was melting.

And then lights came from above.

Three forces descended all at once.

A bolt of thunder, a spear of black fire, and a of white-gold flame.

Zeus. Hades. Uriel had come to aide.

They appeared above her like executioners from the sky.

They attack Asqa all at once.

Their weapons pierced her body from three directions. Lightning through her back. Black energy through her side body. Holy flame through her chest.

Asqa gasped. Her mouth opened in silent shock.

And then she dropped.

Her body fell to her knees first, then slumped forward into the broken, blood-stained stone.

Smoke rising from the wounds. Her breathing shallow. Her aura flickering.

The circle was broken. The last line of defense of the mansion had fallen.

Inside the mansion, Clyde’s scream echoed louder than ever before. Because he felt it. She was gone.

---

Clyde felt it.

A sudden tremor in his soul, like something was being ripped away from him.

Asqa’s energy flickered once. Then vanished.

"No!"

His scream tore through the void, louder than before, filled with panic and despair.

Even in his soul form without a real voice, his cry echoed like a thunderclap across the spiritual plane.

"What... what happened?" he gasped.

The Ancient One’s voice came after a pause, sounding heavier now.

"I don’t know," He said. "But I know the Higher Beings are outside. Asqa was fighting them."

Clyde’s thoughts turned wild.

"You knew she was fighting them!"

"Yes," the Ancient One answered. "But I cannot help her. I must keep my focus on you. If I lose that, all this will be wasted."

"Then help her!" Clyde shouted. His voice cracked from the weight of grief and rage. "Help her now!"

"I can’t, not without risking—"

"I don’t care!" Clyde roared. "I don’t care about any of this! If she’s gone, then none of this matters!"

His soul blazed with something different now. Not just pain but rage and grief.

And the unbearable guilt that he wasn’t there for her.

For a long moment, the Ancient One said nothing.

Then, slowly, his voice returned.

"Very well. I will stop the reshaping process."

"But it’s not done," He added. "You won’t be what you were meant to be. You’ll be incomplete."

"I’ll finish it myself later," Clyde hissed. "Just let me move."

And with that, something inside the mansion shifted.

The black mist that burned across his body began to dim. The blinding energy that had wrapped around him like chains slowly unwound.

His bones stopped breaking. His nerves stopped screaming. His breath returned.

His body trembled violently, slick with sweat and glowing faintly from the half-finished transformation.

Then he opened his eyes.

Clyde sat up in the center of his bedroom. His chest rising and falling. His hands clenched into fists.

He was back and he need to move now.

Clyde jumped from the bed, ignoring the pain that was still filling his body and grab his swords. He shoot outside from the window.
