Chapter 23: A Tough Question!

“Yang Fan, if you have any other requests, feel free to ask. As long as it’s something I can do, I’ll definitely fulfill it!” the station chief said nervously.

Yang Fan was silent for a moment and then said, “Station chief, can I speak to our director?”

He felt that he and the station chief were not on the same wavelength.

The station chief was taken aback for a moment, then quickly said, “Sure, sure, I’ll let the director speak to you.”

The station chief quickly handed the phone back to the director and mouthed silently, “Make sure to keep Yang Fan, we have to keep him.”

The director, feeling the weight of the responsibility, took the phone and stiffly said, “Yang Fan, it’s me!”

Hearing the director’s voice, Yang Fan finally sighed in relief, “Director, I don’t know what’s going on at the station, and since I’m on a business trip, I can’t deal with it.”

“First, approve the official Douyin live broadcast account for me. I’m about to start a live interview with the main cast of The Climbers”

“But the station chief, for some reason, went on and on about promotions and salary increases. Couldn’t he have waited until I got back to discuss this?”

“Making so many big calls, you guys are really something!” Yang Fan complained to the director with a helpless expression.

The station chief and Shi Lei exchanged puzzled looks, not knowing how to react.

The director glanced at the station chief in a daze. From what Yang Fan was saying, it seemed he had no intention of resigning?

And he even mentioned returning after the business trip!!!

“Director, are you still there?” Yang Fan asked, noticing the sudden silence on the other end.

“Ah, yes, I’m here. I’ll approve it right away. Just wait a moment, and I’ll send you the account details!” the director said while heading to her office.

The station chief quickly called her back, “What approval? Nevermind, just approve of it. I’ll take responsibility for this. From now on, anything Yang Fan needs, just approve it directly!”

The director slapped her forehead. She was very confused.

This was Yang Fan, after all. This was a live interview with the main cast of The Climbers. What process was needed?

Even if a process was required, it should be done afterward.

“Yang Fan, did you hear that? No need for approval. Just use it. I’ll send you the account and password right away. Yang Fan, do your best. I believe in you!” the director said excitedly.

After all, Yang Fan was one of her people. Seeing him succeed made her proud. How could she not be happy?

After logging into the station’s official account, Yang Fan handed the phone to the assistant director to help with filming.

Since they were in a restaurant’s private room, everything had to be kept simple.

There wasn’t much equipment available, so they had to make do with a mobile phone for the live broadcast.

As for the microphone, it didn’t exist. Yang Fan could only use his two portable interview pens.

He kept one for himself and handed the other to Wu Jing, instructing everyone to pass it around during the interview.

Given the circumstances, they had to make do.

If they went back to the filming crew to get equipment, who knew how much time would be wasted?

Wouldn’t it be better to spend that time interviewing?

“Hello, everyone. I am Yang Fan, the host from Mango Radio.”

“Today, we are fortunate to interview the main cast of The Climbers at this restaurant.”

“If you have any questions, you can ask them in the chat or send a private message to Mango Radio’s official account.”

“We’ll select the best questions to answer. Thank you for your support.”

“Now, let’s have our main cast members say hello.” Yang Fan gave a brief introduction and then handed the camera to the cast.

“Hello, everyone. I’m Actor Wu Jing!”

“Hello, I’m Zhang Ziyi!”

“Hello, I’m Zhang Yi!”

“Hello, I’m Hu Ge, the Left-Behind Child of the Chinese Paladin series!” Hu Ge couldn’t help but laugh at his own introduction.

“Hello, I’m Jing Boran!”

“Hello, I’m the Director of the main cast, Li Shangang!” After the cast introduced themselves, Director Li also eagerly joined in.

Wu Jing gently pushed Director Li, “What are you doing? Didn’t you hear Yang Fan say it was for the main cast to greet the audience? What are you, a director, doing here?”

“It’s not that I want to join, but if I stand here without saying anything, the audience might mistake me for a waiter,” Director Li said sincerely.

Everyone burst into laughter.

“You’re a bit old to be a waiter, more like the restaurant owner,” Wu Jing jokingly said.

“Not quite an owner either, you look a bit unkempt,” Zhang Yi added with a smile.

Everyone laughed again.

Yang Fan watched them banter without rushing to ask questions.

His interview was the main event. This live broadcast had started spontaneously without any prior notice.

At the start, there couldn’t be too many viewers.

He needed to let the audience count build up before starting the interview.

It wouldn’t take long. The station knew he was going live and wouldn’t let him waste too much time.

The best way to increase viewership was to boost the live stream’s exposure.

If the station was willing to invest a bit, sending some gifts to boost the rankings would increase exposure.

With so many big names in the live stream, the number of viewers and the amount of gifts would certainly increase.

Yang Fan just had to wait a bit.

Once the station’s funding was in place and the gifts were sent, the interview could begin.

「Congratulations to user ‘Shi Lei’ for sending Carnival *1 in Mango Radio’s live broadcast!」

「Congratulations to user ‘Shi Lei’ for sending Carnival *1 in Mango Radio’s live broadcast!」

「Congratulations to user ‘Shi Lei’...」

「...」

A long string of Carnival gifts quickly flooded the live stream.

Mango Radio’s hourly rankings shot up, soon reaching the top ten.

Yang Fan smiled. The station was quick, and the funding was in place so soon!

Since the funds were ready, he wouldn’t delay any further.

The interview could officially begin!

“Wu Jing, based on the released behind-the-scenes footage, The Climbers has a romance plot, right?” Yang Fan asked.

“Yes, there’s romance between Zhang Ziyi and me,” Wu Jing replied.

“Some viewers say The Climbers is a patriotic film about conquering the summit for the nation. Why include a romance subplot?” Yang Fan asked a tricky question right off the bat.
