Chapter 136: Little Spar

Kaiser only woke up after almost twenty hours of sleep. Perhaps because it had been months since he last nestled in the comfort of his king-sized bed.

Waking up in mundane pajamas, he dragged himself to the bathroom, cleaned himself, then wore another set of pajamas. He summoned the Drunken Treasure, using its special function to make the water become wine. Then, he drank to his fill.

He burped loudly, yawning as he made his way to the Great Hall—barefooted.

The heavy double doors were pushed open, and he walked into the gloomy hall. Surprisingly, there were a few familiar faces there, who were being addressed by the Patriarch.

His arrival drew their attention, and almost immediately, everyone’s eyes dropped to his feet. Someone cursed. The others merely rolled their eyes, already accustomed to his habit of not wearing footwear.

"You’re finally awake, sleepyhead."

Ture said fondly, gazing at him with gentle eyes.

Kaiser stretched his arms, nodding his head. His gaze landed on Chad and Izael, who were locked in a fierce glaring battle.

"What is going on here?"

He asked, casting a curious gaze at his uncle.

The man remained seated. "Your fellow brothers are merely having a little quarrel. Ignore them."

Kaiser sent one last glance at the two boys, then ignored them.

"The others here also seem to have just finished their training?"

Ture nodded, though it seemed to be for a different reason.

Kaiser’s eyes sharpened, and he casually grabbed a wrist from behind. In a second, he flipped the attacker forward, smashing her back against the ground without mercy.

While the young girl struggled to get up again, three more who were surrounding him attacked. One of them threw three sharp pins, aligning them in a way that Kaiser was forced to face another girl.

He confidently evaded the pins, engaging in surgical hand-to-hand combat with the girl.

He easily dominated her in that area, even when her speed suddenly doubled. The last of the three juniors slid on the ground, aiming to grab his legs and keep him in place.

"Oh?"

Kaiser saw his attempt and let it succeed. He was immobilized, while the other girl grew fiercer. Suddenly, as Kaiser ducked low beneath her kick, he grabbed the junior immobilizing him, by the throat, picking him up from the ground and throwing him at the girl.

The two of them tumbled to the ground, while Kaiser faced the next batch.

These juniors, who were his mates were all highly-skilled assassins, trained and forged to be the best by the clan. However, to Kaiser, their combined assault barely made him feel pressured.

’No abilities yet...?’

Just as he wondered why they hadn’t used their abilities, he saw roots sprout from the ground and lock around his legs. The roots didn’t stop there, growing longer and thicker, wrapping around his thighs and climbing up to his torso.

Kaiser’s brows furrowed slightly. He immediately tore apart the roots tightening around him, as they would hinder his movements.

Before he could free himself, he felt a fierce kick slam into his back.

He withstood the kick without moving an inch, merely grunting slightly. His hand snapped back, grabbing the person’s leg before he could disengage.

Unable to retract his leg, the boy threw another kick straight to Kaiser’s head.

Kaiser effortlessly caught the second leg, though this act left him wide open. Immediately, two other juniors seized the opportunity.

The girl he had been exchanging blows with rushed in, throwing sharp attacks that targeted his vital organs.

"Heh~"

Kaiser scoffed, then easily broke apart the roots constricting his legs. Twisting his leg in a bizarre way, he delivered a simple kick to the girl’s chin.

None of her attacks reached him before she was sent flying in the air. The other person tried to sneak attack him, striking from what he believed was a blindspot.

At the last moment, Kaiser turned his head slightly, easily evading the boy’s strike. He kneed him in the stomach, then threw the guy who had kicked him earlier.

The two crashed into each other, tumbling across the ground in a tangled heap.

’Gay.’

Kaiser rolled his eyes. Abruptly, his expression changed. ’Killing intent?’

It seemed his mates were getting serious, even though they weren’t attacking him with weapons. As another one rushed at him, Kaiser prepared to knock him out instantly. However, he suddenly shifted, dodging an invisible strike aimed at the back of his neck.

’Chad.’

He thought flatly, realizing who that was. Sighing, he decided to ignore him for now and deal with this little menace of a human. Ten copies of Izael were surrounding him, all attacking with perfect synchrony.

Kaiser fought back seriously, avoiding fatal blows and only tanking the light ones. Suddenly, he felt the air currents change at his left side.

Knowing that was Chad, he prepared to dodge. However, one of Izael’s clones suddenly lunged at him, grabbing onto him and keeping him in place.

Due to the slight interruption, the blow landed successfully on Kaiser’s shoulder, snapping the bone with a crisp sound.

The hall went silent for a moment, as if the air itself had frozen. The other juniors stared wide-eyed. They had successfully landed a hit on him—finally.

Lowering his head, Kaiser grabbed the clone by the neck, lifting it off the ground effortlessly.

"Enough."

He said flatly without any emotion, then snapped the clone’s neck. Raising his head, he stared at the others with a bottomless, empty gaze.

Seeing that look in his eyes, they immediately backed away. Even Izael and Chad retreated cautiously. As his family members, they knew him the closest, and knew when he was about to kill.

"No more, Kaiser." Patriarch Ture’s authoritative voice cut through the ice, completely dispelling the heavy atmosphere.

Kaiser straightened his back, his eyes regaining their light. He casually reset his dislocated shoulder, feeling his healing abilities already at work.

He turned to face the juniors, then cracked his neck. "That was really a great spar, wasn’t it? You guys have surely grown stronger."

He said this seriously, though a neutral smile played at his lips.

Observing the abrupt switch in his demeanor—from the ready-to-kill assassin to an easygoing young man—Chad and a few others were unnerved.
