Chapter 51: Nirad Raid Closes

"Pfft-!"

After taking a few steps, he suddenly vomited blood and collapsed onto his knees.

’Essence running dry. I can’t maintain the ability.’

Slowly, he was starting to feel pain from all his injuries and broken bones. His vision, already stained with blood, was getting blurry.

’Goodness gracious... I have to kill it before I pass out.’

Although getting rid of the monster’s eyes might have seemed great, it wasn’t entirely so. Nirad creatures weren’t just normal creatures who relied on sight or other mundane senses all the time.

As he thought, the monster turned its head in his direction, a low rumbling growl from its throat.

Kaiser’s expression relaxed, a dark focused look in his eyes.

’An assassin never thinks. An assassin only acts.’

Ignoring the pain slowly consuming him, he held his sword and prepared to fight the monster again.

Pa.

A palm landed on his shoulder, stopping him in place. Unsurprised, he tilted his head slightly. "Instructor?"

"You should rest."

The woman said curtly, then lay his body on the ground. Her own clothing had a few cuts and bloodstains that didn’t belong to her.

While Kaiser lay on the ground with his eyes still watching cautiously, Instructor Rina immediately attacked.

A purple haze covered her scythe as it dug deep into the side of the creature.

Roaring, the monster lashed out, but the Class-E Instructor nimbly dodged the strikes, weaving through the sharp claws of the monster.

In a few moments, the two Evolved had clashed, almost transforming the terrain into one filled with craters.

From afar, a young lady in familiar dark cloak snorted. "Those two were useless after all."

Since an instructor arrived, it meant they had been killed. From her garment, she produced a walkie-talkie, then said coldly.

"Abort mission."

As soon as her word was passed, she prepared to turn away. At the last moment, she caught sight of Kaiser’s eyes locked on her. A playful glint flashed through her eyes and she winked before disappearing.

...

Unsurprisingly, the expedition was cancelled for the first years and everyone was taken back to the academy.

The cause of the incident wasn’t explained to the students, and they were only informed that the expedition was ending early. Thankfully, except Kaiser Solace, no other student was directly involved. Though, a select few were suspecting something had gone wrong behind the scenes.

Currently, all the instructors present at the scene were gathered in a conference room, staring at the holographic image of the Chairman who was off-campus.

Chairman Jonathan’s expression was dark, staring at them with intense solemnity.

"Can someone tell me what exactly happened?"

His tone was heavy, and an invisible pressure pressed down against them even though he wasn’t there physically.

All eyes turned to Instructor Rina, the instructor who had found the involved student and rescued him.

Calm and composed, she rose to her feet, scanning the whole room with her green eyes. Finally, her eyes paused on the Chairman.

"I won’t beat around the bush, Chairman." She started, "I believe this attack is from inside the academy. Someone was trying to eliminate the Student Kaiser Solace from my Class-E, even to the extent of mobilizing an Evolved Monster."

As soon as her words settled, eyes widened and murmurs spread instantly. Several management staff turned to each other, each speculating the credibility of her words. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"How sure are you, Rina?" Myke asked with a sneer on his face. "Do you think an organization large enough to infiltrate the academy would sought after some trash in Class-E? Don’t be ridiculous, the student doesn’t even have any special background."

His critic words silenced the room a bit, and turned the attention back to Rina. Unfazed, the woman folded her arms defiantly.

"So you think I’m wrong. Then you must have a valid reason for a coordinated attack launched against the first year students who are still green."

Myke snorted, but his smile didn’t diminish. "Who can determine the thoughts of someone unknown? We have no lead to ascertain what their goal was, and we’re merely speculating. All I’m doing is ensuring that you don’t have such wild, selfish thoughts."

Rina’s eyes darkened, but a glance from the Chairman made her fall silent.

"You can have your seat, Rina. I’ll consider your idea too."

Chairman Jonathan said, then looked at everyone sharply.

"The most important case was how our defenses were breached and our observation relic was shut down. It is right to believe that there is an insider for them in this academy."

His words sparked a new wave of discussion, which made one of the staff stand up.

"After making a quick research, I was able to come to the conclusion that our enemies interfered with our signals using the Tapper Relic."

"The Tapper Relic?"

"That’s not something easy to get at all."

Those who knew of this relic immediately frowned, realizing that the situation was quite serious than they imagined. That relic was one of the most expensive and rare relics produced by humanity as it could directly cause an electric shutdown over a specific area.

Something this valuable to could only be available to the top-ranking nations in the world.

"We have never experienced a deliberate attack against us in the past, mainly because of the Pegasus Empire’s deterrence against opposition. Now, it seems we’ve gotten ourselves a bold one."

Chairman Jonathan smiled gently, his aged wrinkles squeezing slightly. "I want this case cracked as soon as possible."

Everyone present rose to their feet at attention, then saluted him.

"Understood, sir!"

One by one, they left the conference room with determined steps, each having their own plans to find the root cause of the problem.

"Rina, stay behind."

Hearing the Chairman’s words, Instructor Rina stopped in place, waiting for all the other instructors and staff to leave before turning.

She locked eyes with the old man, her expression calm and composed.

"What is it, Chairman Jonathan?"

The man sighed slightly. "We need to talk about your student, Kaiser Solace."
