Eternal Freedom's Ascension-Chapter 76: Evaluation Results
"Everyone settle down."
Instructor Rina walked into the class, her heels clacking against the tiles.
The bustling class quietened at her arrival, all attention focused on her. Now healed and well-rested, the students of Class-E were eager to know their results.
Rina didn’t delay at all. She tapped her tablet, and the results were displayed on the projector.
1st Place - Class-B +100
2nd Place - Class-E +50
|3rd Place - Class-D +20 | 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
4th Place - Class-A -50
5th Place - Class-C +0
There was a moment of silence, then the majority of the class stood up to cheer. Their cheer was loud, but Rina didn’t mind. She allowed them to cheer for a few seconds before silencing them.
"Your result in this evaluation was quite unexpected. I’m impressed."
Receiving such rare praise, Liam and the others smiled. Although they didn’t achieve first place, second place was still enough.
"Wait. We came out third after Class-B and Class-D." Hazel frowned. "How come we took second place?"
Now that she had mentioned it, everyone realized something was wrong. Hazel and Ariel exchanged glances, having a hunch that their guess was right.
"Good question, Hazel." Rina nodded. "Each class’s result was calculated using your time taken to clear the dungeon, and the value of the creatures killed."
Hazel bit her lip, immediately grasping the crux of the evaluation.
"So you mean each creature rank has different values? And the fact that we killed one Monster and that Fiend is what boosted us?"
Rina smiled, "Not quite. Class-D killed four Monsters. However, your class killed one Monster and two Fiends."
Two Fiends?!
The class was shocked, glancing at each other with confusion. The only Fiend-ranked creature they had killed was the final boss. And it wasn’t like they were the ones who even killed it.
It was Kaiser’s summon that had subjugated and killed the creature. At the memory of that moment, a few students cast subtle glances at Kaiser who had an uninterested look on his face.
Till now, they didn’t understand how he was able to summon such a strong creature, and no one dared to ask him.
"I think you’re mistaken, Instructor. Only one Fiend died by the hands of our classmate. Or is there something we’re missing?"
Liam asked respectfully, his brows furrowed.
Rina tilted her head. "Why don’t you ask the one who killed the creatures in the boss room? Hm, Kaiser. Did you perhaps kill a fiend?"
This time, Kaiser raised his head. "I do remember removing the brain of one persistent Abyssal Crawler."
Eyes widened like saucers, his classmates were stunned. He removed the brain of a Fiend? Although this was actually a sure method of killing an opponent, it didn’t mean it could be carried out casually.
"Kaiser, you actually..."
Hazel was speechless, unsure of what to say.
"Heh~" Sebastian chuckled. "That’s quite an interesting way to kill, Solace-boy."
Kaiser ignored their admiration, shock, and unease, resting his head on the table.
Without waiting for them to recover, Rina continued. "Killing two Fiends as Rank 1 Awakened students is a great feat, and this finally elevated your score to be above Class-D. Is your curiosity satiated now, Hazel?"
Hazel nodded, her mind still reeling from the fact that Kaiser had single-handedly killed an Awakened Fiend.
’Did he perhaps use that summon? I can’t say. There’s so much not known about him.’
Her resolve to recruit him to her side was strengthened. It would be a great boon if his strength was used to support the class.
"I have a question, Instructor."
Unusual of him, Ariel raised a hand.
"Yes... Ariel?" Rina turned to him, curious.
"Why did Class-A lose 50 points? Could it be because of the spy they sent?" He asked.
"Huh? Spy?" Hazel turned to him, her eyes narrowed. "They sent a spy with us?"
Ariel shook his head gently. "No. Sent to."
’These students...’
Rina shook unnoticeably. Her eyes shone with a light that hadn’t surfaced in a while. Calming her agitated self, she asked casually.
"So you noticed the girl, huh? Sharp insight. However, why are you so sure that she was sent to you guys?"
Ariel frowned slightly. "It’s nothing special. Before entering the dungeon, our limiters were still activated, so it’s impossible that she used a cloaking ability to hide her presence from us. I’d wager that she found a means to get into our dungeon from theirs. I’m not sure how though."
He explained quickly, as if it was an observation he just made. In fact, that wasn’t the whole truth.
As soon as they entered the dungeon, Ariel had noticed something off. The space was acting strange, as if some things seen weren’t real. That was how he realized that the dungeons were linked, and that the girl might have passed through walls to reach them.
’It’s actually simple. But only those with keen senses would notice.’ He cast a glance at Kaiser. ’Based on his unresponsiveness, he must have noticed that too, right?’
While he thought to himself, the others soon realized the logic behind his reasoning.
"So you mean the dungeons were linked?" Ysabella gasped, covering her mouth.
"Damn! We could have really suffered a sabotage!" Logan grunted, furious he hadn’t noticed that.
"What’re you worried about?" Eric snickered. "The other classes should be happy we didn’t strike them first!"
His words were stupid and illogical, but it actually worked on the others. They all smiled, as if they were actually doing the other classes a favor.
Rina’s expression darkened. ’Even though there are a few talents in this class, the majority are still stupid fools!’
Containing her displeasure, she said. "You’re right, Ariel. And that exactly is the reason why Class-A was deducted 50 points."
Suddenly, Liam’s eyes widened. "Wait... doesn’t that mean the rankings have changed?"
"What do you mean?" Kiera asked him, puzzled.
"Class-A lost 50 points, and Class-B gained 100 points. That’s enough to change the rankings."
Liam explained, then turned to Instructor Rina for confirmation.
Rina smiled faintly, then displayed something on the projector for them all to see.
