Eternal life begins with saving my clan-Chapter 283: The Clumsy Meiling
Su Yen turned to look at her with wide eyes. Why would she call him a god? He rolled his eyes and took a sip from his tea.
"I'm not a god," he responded.
Still in shock, Meiling replied, "If you're not a god, how can you be this beautiful?"
"I don't know. You're also beautiful. So, are you also a god?" he teased.
When she heard she was beautiful, blood rushed to her face and her face reddened like a ripe tomato. She blushed, averting her gaze.
To be called beautiful by such an existence was the highest honor she could ever receive. Su Yen was not the usual young master from influential clans who was trying to get under her skirt.
He was a man at the top of the food chain. To him, her beauty meant nothing. He didn't need to lie to her to gain her goodwill.
Looking at her shy demeanor, Caleb Li shook his head and asked, "Will you continue standing?"
"Ah! Yes..." It was then she remembered she was still standing like a fool.
"Here," he offered, handing her a cup of tea.
Seeing this, she was surprised. When her father and the Prefecture Lord were around, he never invited them for tea, but now she was given the chance.
She looked at the pristine cup and various thoughts began to run through her mind.
"Are you drinking or not?" Su Yen couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with her. The lady he knew was headstrong, filled with valor.
But now, why did she seem to be a fool?
When she heard his voice, she realized once again she had blanked out. "What is happening to me?!" she exclaimed in her heart.
She had never been this clumsy before. She was born and bred in the military. Sluggishness was never her thing.
However, since she set her eyes on him, her world seemed to be filled with his face.
Anytime she tried to think of anything, his face would come up in her mind, making her blank out.
'I can't continue like this. I need to get a grip of myself,' she thought with a firm determination.
Having gotten a grasp of her disjointed thoughts, she took a sip from the tea. Instantly, the grip she had on her disjointed thoughts loosened.
'Oh god! What type of tea is this?!' she exclaimed in her heart.
The tea soothed her throat and went down to every part of her body, cleansing away the impurities. With just a single tea, she felt more alive than usual.
With trembling lips, she asked, "W-What type of tea is this?"
"Spirit Tea," Su Yen chuckled, watching her exaggerated expression. "Do you like it?"
"No. I don't like it," her voice rose a couple of octaves. "I love it."
She took another sip and found out her clogged meridian was cleansed and her bottleneck loosened a bit.
Looking at the little tea in her cup, she swallowed the lumps in her throat as she forcefully controlled the impulse to drink everything in one swoop.
Su Yen looked at her without uttering and continued to drink the Spirit Tea as if he was drinking an ordinary tea.
From the side, Meiling continued to look at him without averting her gaze. Finally, she broke the silence.
"Are you the one who saved the army against the beast tide attack?" She asked.
"What do you think?" Su Yen responded, not looking at her.
"I think it was you. I can think of no one with such power in our Prefecture."
Su Yen didn't respond, but he knew his silence was enough of an answer.
"Thank you," she said, her face filled with gratitude.
"Hmm," he nodded slightly. "If you hadn't told me the general direction of the Butterfly Gorge, perhaps I wouldn't have been in the vicinity to save them. So, you should thank your luck."
"Really!" She looked at him curiously and asked, "Did you find the Butterfly Gorge?"
"Yes..."
"What!" Her jaw dropped to the ground. "Everyone thought it was a myth?!"
"There are things happening around us that everyone thought were myths... not knowing they were misconceptions, planned by those in the shadows." Experience tales at novelbuddy.com
He shook his head and drank his tea in one gulp, then looked at her seriously.
"You will join the war, right?" He asked.
"Yes. I'm a soldier. Of course, I will join the war," she responded confidently.
"With the Celestial Army taking the lead, I don't think there will be much danger in the war. Nevertheless, you must be careful."
With that, he waved his hand and an armor appeared. "Take this, use it when you're facing enemies you can't defeat."
Looking at the armor in his hand, Meiling widened her eyes. This armor looked like the one unveiled today, but the one in his hand seemed different.
"Is this the same armor as that one?" She asked, her voice laced with shock and curiosity.
"Something like that... but this one is a lot more powerful. The Metal Bone Construct depends on the user's Qi blood, while this one uses Spirit Stone," he gave the Bronze Metal Construct to her.
"Thank you."
"No problem. Use it a couple of times before the war starts and get the hang of its power."
"Yes, I will surely do that."
Watching her departing back, Su Yen smiled and shook his head.
His action toward her was a show of goodwill, but with the little time he spent and how fascinated she was with every little thing, it gave him a different feeling from the other ladies he encountered.
Slowly, the sun began to set and the veil of darkness covered Zizhu Prefecture.
However, the inhabitants of the prefecture were not going to sleep.
Rumors began to spread on You Connect about the introduction of Spirit Bay, a marketplace where you could buy anything you want from the comfort of your home and have it delivered to your doorstep from anywhere in the prefecture.
While the people were getting excited by such unbelievable news, inside the Celestial Forte, the recruits had completed their various gruesome training.
Tonight, they would be assigned to their specific divisions, and one of them was the Elite Division.
