The 35th state continued their usual routine, with the Ancient Zhang clan army patrolling the state.

Every city in the state had thousands of Zhang army soldiers, putting the state in a semi-tense atmosphere.

With the order from the Emperor, the people believed the Zhang clan army was there to help them against the rebels living in the 36th state.

Inside the state capital, Zhang Wei sat on the throne with a proud smile on his face.

He looked down at the state governor with a lecherous gaze. Even he thought this mortal was beneath him with a polluted bloodline.

He couldn't allow such a mature body to escape from his clutch.

Putting on a slightly serious expression on his face, he asked, "How is the preparation?"

"Going according to plan. In the next three days, we will be ready to attack the 36th state," she reported without any change in her expression, even though she loathed this horny dog.

"Good," he nodded and smiled in anticipation. "When the Chen clan arrives, we'll launch a full frontal attack on those bastards."

Just as he prepared to continue his ranting, a guard rushed in with a solemn expression on his face.

"Your Highness," the soldier called and fell on one knee.

"What?" he asked with a squinted brow.

"Your Highness, there are strange rumors spreading throughout the state," he reported with his head facing down.

"What rumor? Who dares to spread rumors in my state?" he demanded in a loud voice.

When the state governor heard this, she sneered in disdain. 'Your state? Enjoy it while it lasts.'

"T-they are saying the ancient clans are the true enemies and..."

"And what?" he banged the armrest with fury burning deep in his eyes. "Do you want me to cut off your tongue before you speak?"

"No... They said that we're an alliance of the Bloodmoon Envoy and we're preparing for the arrival of the Bloodmoon Envoy."

"Nonsense! Who cares to spread such absurd rumors?" Veins protruded from his forehead, and he pointed at the state governor.

"Do you know what is going on?" he asked.

"Your Highness, how could I know? But I can help you find out," she responded calmly.

"Good. Do so right now or else. I don't mind turning this land upside down."

The state governor did not even flinch at his threat. Since she joined the rebels and saw their extraordinary artifacts, she was convinced the sudden appearance of the ancient clans was due to fear.

Moreover, she and the three powerful clan masters watched the battle of the Ancient clans against the 36th state and saw how they used their bloodline power.

Thus, they knew for a fact about the true face of the ancient clans.

As she prepared to depart, another guard rushed in. "Your Highness..."

"Tell me quickly."

"Thousands of image crystals are circulating the state, showing the battle of the Chen clan using their bloodline power," the new guard reported.

"What!" Zhang Wei screamed. He could not believe his ears.

"How's that possible?" he wondered out loud.

While he was still reeling in shock, the guard continued with the bad news.

"Your Highness, our men are under attack right now. What should we do? The people are calling us the real betrayal, and we must leave their land right away."

"How dare them?" he shouted with his eyes bloodshot.

"Since they do not know what is good for them, I will kill them all."

"Relay my order. Kill everyone who has an image crystal and those spreading rumors."

"Yes, Your Highness," the two guards shouted and left the massive hall.

"Your High—"

"Shut up, bitch. I don't want to hear any words from you," he glared at her with a cold, killing gaze.

The state governor did not flinch; she merely stared at him for a couple of seconds before she gave him a slight nod and departed from the main hall.

Coming outside of the main hall, the corner of her lips called upward a bit. She looked over her shoulder and mused, "Tick tock."

Meanwhile, the 36th state was in upheaval as the image crystals were being spread.

People took to the streets, chanting and demanding for the ancient clans to leave their land.

Some of the hot-blooded younger generation confronted the Ancient Zhang clan army.

Quickly, battle ensued in the land as the people demanded them to leave, but only for the Zhang army to retaliate by killing them.

Previously, it was only the younger generation that was causing havoc, but with the killing of their loved ones, both the old and young took up their weapons and joined the battle.

Smoke rose to the sky, cries for help filled the streets, blood flowed like a river. Still, the people did not stop attacking the Zhang clan army.

It had been three days since the 35th state had been thrown into turmoil, and tension hung over the sky like a vice.

Even though the Zhang army was stronger and superior with the beast bloodline, they were helpless against the vengeful inhabitants of the 35th state.

They couldn't eat normal food and enjoy wine or alcohol for fear of being poisoned.

Zhang Wei was furious inside the state governor's mansion. He had summoned the state governor many times, but she failed to appear in his presence.

The previous state governor that was bustling with activities with maids moving back and forth was now empty, leaving only his army to protect him.

"Since you dare go against my clan, I will make sure to raze this forsaken land to ruins," he vowed.

Suddenly, his nose twitched, and he squinted. "What is that smell?" he wondered out loud.

"Your Highness..." A soldier rushed inside with a pensive expression.

"Fire!" he shouted, pointing outside.

"How is that possible?" Zhang Wei was furious; he knew it must be from those weak and spineless bastards.

"Your Highness, we must leave right now. The fire is going to burn this place to the ground."

"Alright." He nodded, standing up ready to depart from the hall when a gust of wind blew on his face.

Ahhh!

He heard a cry and looked in the cry direction and saw the soldier holding his neck.

The soldier's face was marred with fear as he struggled to raise his hand and pointed to Zhang Wei's back.

Suddenly, Zhang Wei felt all the hair on his body stand straight with his heart jumping to his throat.

He turned slowly and saw a young man grinning at him. Just as he prepared to speak, he felt he couldn't muster the strength to speak.

'What happened to me!'

That was his last thought before he was consumed by darkness, never to wake up again.

Zimo looked at the dead Zhang Wei and muttered, "So weak."
