Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress-Chapter 333: Call from Afar
"Is it because of the Demon Weapon World? Or because of the environment of the Demon God’s Cemetery?"
"Will something target me once I become a Greater Devil?", Liora couldn’t help but wonder and subconsciously raised her head towards the sky.
Her gaze penetrated through the demi-plane and reached outside, observing the world outside the demi-plane.
Although her eyes were unable to see what she wanted, the image of the two higher-level worlds surrounding the Demon Weapon World emerged in her mind.
"Is the danger brought by those two worlds? Has some being over there noticed me?"
"Or... Could it be?!"
Suddenly, a piece of information that she had almost forgotten resurfaced in her mind.
It was an event that was mentioned only once or twice in her bloodline memories, and thus something she had not given much thought to in the past.
"If my theory is correct, then my current situation is more dangerous than imagined."
"I can only hope that the danger stems from the Demon Weapon World instead...", Liora whispered.
With a thought, she suppressed her fluctuating aura.
Instantly, her bloodline returned to normal, as the advancement process was interrupted halfway.
In the end, Liora failed to undergo a transformation.
Yet, although she was still a True Devil, her combat power had improved massively.
The Indestructible Matter had not only granted her relative immortality but had also further strengthened her physical body.
At the moment, she had the confidence to fight against a Greater Devil based solely on the strength of her physical body.
Such an achievement would have been nothing in the past, as improving her stage would have had similar effects.
But considering her current situation, Liora felt that it was noteworthy.
"If my guess is true, then the person targeting me is terrifying."
"My main focus in the near future should be on improving my combat power. The easiest way to achieve this should be by collecting more Indestructible Matter."
"I don’t believe it! Will I still be in danger if I were to complete the first substage too and advance straight to the third substage of the Greater Devil stage?"
"At worst, I will skip the Greater Devil stage and advance straight to an Archdevil!"
This setback did not affect Liora much, and she still retained her composure, unlike other Devils who had found themselves in her situation.
Although unwilling, Liora’s first thought was not to grieve or curse, but to think of ways to resolve her current issues.
After thinking for a few more minutes and creating several contingency plans in the process, Liora finally stopped thinking about her failure in advancing.
Her focus drifted back to reality, where she found herself standing alone in an empty crimson land.
With her having devoured everything about the Divine Army’s Commander, the Ruin had nothing to be built upon and had quickly crumbled.
Just like the previous ancient battlefield, it disappeared from Liora’s vision and ejected her back to the Demon God’s Cemetery.
Instantly, Liora’s consciousness swept through her surroundings.
She found nothing wrong, as no traces of other people could be seen.
However, it was exactly this discovery that made Liora frown slightly.
"Where did that arrogant guy go?"
"Did he take the opportunity and slip away while I was busy, or did he perish in the ancient battlefield?"
Despite how it may have seemed, the illusory ancient battlefield was actually quite dangerous.
Most people would slowly lose themselves in the illusion and integrate with it.
If they were then killed in the illusion, the damage would also affect their real bodies.
At best, they would suffer serious injuries. At worst, they would perish.
After checking for some time but still finding no traces of that man, Liora shook her head.
"If he escaped, I can only praise his good luck and quick reaction. If he is dead, then there is nothing I can possibly do...", she whispered, and quickly stopped thinking about it.
The life and death of a mere Weapon Master hardly interested Liora.
She wouldn’t deliberately seek the frail man, nor would she spend any time chasing him down.
Raising her head, Liora looked at the bright sun above her head.
Although she had no way of telling the exact time, she could see that it had not been long since she entered the Ruins.
From start to finish, less than an hour had gone by, including the time she spent transforming.
"The Demon God’s Cemetery is supposed to stay open for a month. Once the time comes, all participants will be forcefully teleported out."
"I should make use of this time. So many Weapon Masters gathered in one place is a rare sight."
"If I’m lucky, I might be able to collect enough Indestructible Matter to cover my entire physical body..."
Just when Liora finished that thought and was about to turn around and leave, a low whisper suddenly rang in her mind.
The whisper was strangely familiar.
It closely resembled what she had heard earlier, when the Void Whisper had warned her of the impending danger.
However, when Liora paid closer attention, she discovered that the current mutterings were different.
Not only did they all belong to the same person, but the content of their words was actually clear.
"Outsider... come... come... here..."
"Come... Let’s have... a deal..."
"You help me... I help you..."
It was just a few plain sentences, but they caught Liora by surprise.
Not because the voice’s owner had guessed her identity as an Outsider.
After all, her previous transformation had caused her aura to stir and had revealed some of her Devil characteristics. If there happened to be a powerful and knowledgeable person nearby, they would indeed have a chance to guess her identity.
What shocked Liora instead was that she sensed the power carried by that voice.
Its owner was far stronger than Duke Bloodflower, the only Greater Devil whom she had fought and defeated in the past.
"Peak of the Greater Devil? No! Faintly beyond that.", Liora couldn’t help but estimate as her eyes unconsciously narrowed.
Upon a closer investigation, she discovered that there seemed to be a veil between her and the voice’s owner. The veil was thin, but it clearly separated the two.
Coupled with everything she had seen and heard so far, Liora soon guessed that person’s identity.
She didn’t hesitate. Listening to the voice urging her to approach it, she did a one-eighty and took a step forward.
Immediately, the space before her cracked and swallowed her whole. The next moment, her figure appeared several kilometers away, before the same space cracked and swallowed her figure once again.
