Chapter 30: Sector D Has Fallen VI

I slammed my limbs together, and from the conjunction of both arms, a massive cannon-like weapon formed, pulsating with energy.

A golden spark flickered, then roared to life like a whirring engine. In the next instant, an enormous surge of power blasted out from the cannon.

The sheer intensity of the light rivaled that of the sun, painting the landscape in a blinding glow. In one overwhelming sweep, the herd of minions was completely erased, not a single trace left behind.

I exhaled, lowering my arms as residual heat radiated off my suit. "Ultra-Cannon Incinerate..." I muttered, a smirk tugging at the corner of my lips. "I like that."

A familiar notification chimed.

[New Adaptation Saved: Ultra-Cannon Incinerate.]

"Oh?"

Before I could revel in my newfound power, another notification flashed across my HUD.

[Antidote Formula Success Rate Calculation Complete!]

My heart leaped. Finally.

"Yes! I might as well walk into the building and hand the formula to them myself!"

Bbarrigghhhh!

A loud system beep interrupted my excitement.

[Antidote Formula Success Rate = 30%]

My expression froze.

"...What?"

The interface pulsed red, the urgent notification flashing like a warning beacon.

The formula had been completed, but it wasn’t effective. A 30% success rate? That was a death sentence. An antidote that works 30% of the time is not sufficient at all and it’s close to nothing.

My fists clenched. Time was running out. This antidote was the only hope for Sector D. We couldn’t afford a gamble.

"Go again!" I barked angrily. "Reanalyze and restructure it. Comb through every medical, biochemical, and physics textbook or article ever written. Heck, go back to ancient Egyptian practices if you have to! Just find me an antidote formula!"

I had never witnessed a catastrophe of this magnitude. And now, I wasn’t just a bystander—I was at the heart of it. People were depending on me. My input.

I took a deep breath and prepared to launch into the sky when something caught my eye.

A security camera.

Perched on the ISA lab’s fence, its lens pointed directly at me.

The realization hit instantly. The ISA had a clear image of me now. Not only that, they had just witnessed me single-handedly obliterate an entire herd of minions. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

If they weren’t interested in me before, they sure as hell were now.

I narrowed my eyes at the camera. "Come out."

BOOM!

I rocketed into the air at breakneck speed, shattering the sound barrier as I tore through the sky.

There was no more time to waste.

I needed to find Gravehowl. Now.

He was the source of this nightmare, taking him down would throw his minions into disarray. Without their leader, they would become mindless husks making them easier to eliminate.

I sped past ruined buildings, tracking every dense minion cluster. One by one, I followed the trail, letting it lead me back to the epicenter of their command.

Then I found it.

The city square.

Once a thriving hub of commerce and culture, it was now unrecognizable. Towering buildings lay in ruins, shattered advertising boards flickered weakly, and the neon glow of the city had been snuffed out by destruction.

A disaster zone.

If there was one silver lining, it was that Gravehowl had chosen to attack at dawn. If he had unleashed this chaos at night, the casualties would have been ten times worse.

Streetlights flickered ominously. Signs dangled by their last surviving wires. The proud and bustling city square had been reduced to rubble.

Gravehowl’s minions prowled the ruins, their nightmarish forms scuttling through the wreckage like starved scavengers.

Bone-plated skin.

Elongated snouts.

Glowing, abyssal eyes.

Their claws scraped against the pavement as they hunted civilians, those who had failed to evacuate in time.

Some were cornered and devoured before they could even scream. Others... were already undergoing the horrific transformation into the undead.

My jaw tightened.

The city square had four main roads branching outward, all of them swarming with Gravehowl’s creatures.

This was it.

This was where the raid originated from.

BAM!

I landed hard, cracking the pavement beneath me.

I scanned the chaos around me—until something completely caught me off guard.

A whip of lightning blasted through the air, erasing a horde of minions in a single strike.

My eyes widened.

The moment the bolt connected, dozens of minions were sent flying, their bodies instantly dismembered from the sheer force.

A familiar sound crackled in the distance—the unmistakable buzz of electricity cascading through the air.

Then I saw him.

Or rather, I saw it first.

A 500,000-volt electric surfboard shot across the battlefield, tearing through the minions like a blade through butter. Any conductive element in its path, including the creatures was instantly fried to a crisp.

ZAPPPP!

Then, its rider came into view.

A blur of blue lightning, moving at speeds beyond comprehension.

With a single flick of his wrist, his electric whip lashed out in a deadly 360° arc.

The result? At least twenty minions, sliced clean in half.

BAM!

He landed.

Not even pausing, he launched his surfboard with terrifying precision.

ZRRRRET!

It carved a path through everything in its way, incinerating minions with an unstoppable charge. Then, with a flick of his fingers, he redirected it, sending it on another destructive pass.

My mouth hung open.

For the first time, I found myself speechless.

This guy... was entertaining to watch.

Before I could even react, a larger minion came into view, it was twice the size of the others.

It locked onto him, its dead eyes burning with killing intent.

He noticed it immediately.

Hovering in midair, he cocked his head. "Damn, you ugly."

ZRRRRET!

He lashed out with his whip, but something was different.

The moment it struck, the energy didn’t disintegrate the minion.

Instead, the tip of the lightning whip stuck to its chest, almost as if it had become an adhesive.

His grin widened.

"Get over here!"
