Evolving My Mythic Legion With A Legendary Skill-Chapter 127: Murders in the Settlement!
Right now, not even the cloud vultures were outside the domains, they were all inside the barracks.
Leon and a few other elven archers were around for keeping watch though.
"Lord, today’s soup is made from the newly harvested crop from the field. Its effect is to calm the mind and replenish one’s mental energy." Fay spoke.
"Oh they are already harvested?" Neil asked, it had been over a month but those things were growing too slowly at the start.
"Yes, thanks to Ileana and those cute slimes." Ray added.
"That’s good, let everyone try the soup." Neil spoke, the field held quite the potential.
If he could grow even better crops there, then it would be a treasure trove.
Soon, Fay, Ray, and the dwarves brought out the food, Neil was the first to try the soup and other things.
Of course, the siblings had already tested it in advance for any negative effects, and it worked wonders.
As Neil gulped one spoonful of the soup he felt a cool sensation spread through his mind, it was like someone was massaging his head gently with cold oil.
It made him feel relaxed.
"Mmm it’s good." He nodded, as everyone else got their soups and began to taste it.
They all sighed, its effects were so magical. Any sign of sleep was gone, none felt any mental fatigue.
They already planned to just sit there and chat, so it was a great help.
After eating, Neil chatted with everyone for a while then decided to use this time to use the Entropic Essence transformation method.
He sat cross legged with his eyes closed as others talked in lower voices.
Neither in the domain nor in the settlement, not a single person slept during the entire night.
And the night passed quietly.
...
Neil ended his training early in the morning, he stood up and stretched.
"Master, I have brought the cameras, enough to cover the entire settlement and even our domain." Nemo spoke, giving the good news.
"That’s good, I will be going to the settlement soon anyway." Neil felt a bit tired, but with his current strength it was nothing.
He took a bath first and after changing clothes, walked out of the domain.
"Leon, let’s go and check the settlement." He spoke and stopped them from moving.
"Yes lord!" Leon nodded, following behind him.
As the two entered the settlement, they saw a large number of people with dark circles under their eyes.
People appeared frightened after the last incident.
Neil quickly found Hiroshima in the crowd and called out.
"Hiroshima, is everything alright?"
"Hello Lukas, please give us a few minutes. We are checking if anyone is missing." Hiroshima replied, he appeared quite tensed.
Neil nodded and waited, after a few minutes, Hiroshima reported.
"Haa looks like no one is missing this time! No one died!" he smiled faintly, though the three deaths weighed heavily on him.
Unlike Neil, he had taken the responsibility of everyone’s life here.
"That’s good, is it a creature who only attacks at night or was it actually the lords who were behind this?" Neil pondered.
He wondered if changing the sleeping schedule completely would help, they can’t do this every day.
"Tell everyone to rest during the day, still be careful. At night, we will stay awake again today." Neil ordered and Hiroshima didn’t object.
"Oh right, I got these cameras, make sure to cover everything up. Don’t leave any blind spots, we have got enough of these." Neil took out big boxes full of cameras.
"Woah thank you so much for this help, we are all really grateful to you." Hiroshima said, bowing a full 90 degree.
"It is fine, just be careful." Neil after giving a few more orders walked back to his domain.
Magnar jumped onto his shoulder, he had left his familiar here during the previous night.
Maybe it was his mythic class familiar which had helped.
In any case, it was time for the training session, he felt tired but wasn’t going to skip that.
After returning to the domain and eating breakfast, he entered the core room.
While he was training, the others worked together to put up all the cameras, the other lords rested at this time.
They continued moving, but still the citadel seemed so far away.
As usual Neil returned near the evening, and thankfully nothing happened.
This night again, they all stayed up, while Nemo was keeping a watch over the cameras.
Another night passed with no incidents, the whole thing was very mysterious, and it was impossible to find anything.
Neil had informed Cinthia in advance that he would be coming there late, as he returned to his bed.
Finally he had the much needed sleep.
Waking up after six or so hours, near noon, he freshened up and went to train after eating some food.
A few days passed peacefully, until people finally calmed down and started to sleep normally at night.
After eight or so days, Neil had slept peacefully during the night in his bed with Ileana.
Then he as usual went to train with Cinthia, it really seemed they were pretty close to the citadel now.
A day or two more and they would pass by it, their goal was to reach those big metal bars.
"Walker, sigh why is it that even after so long you still can’t access your soul space?" Cinthia shook her head.
They had tried everything, yet nothing seemed to work, Neil only saw darkness in there.
For now, it wouldn’t affect him much but in the future, it will turn fatal and even slow down his progress.
It would be easy to target his soul space too.
But there wasn’t any solution, the snake queen did everything she could.
"Do you have any idea why it isn’t working?" she asked, sitting inside the bathtub opposite him.
"No, I don’t know sigh." Neil shook his head.
"Hmm..." Cinthia fell into thought, while Neil sat in front of her.
Just then, Nemo’s hurried voice sounded in his mind.
"Master, there is trouble back in the settlement."
Neil instantly frowned, he got up surprising the queen.
"What’s wrong?" she questioned.
"Something happened in the settlement again, I will have to return for now." Neil answered, and it hadn’t even been 30 minutes since he arrived.
"Okay, it’s fine." Cinthia watched as Neil’s figure vanished in the next moment, she was starting to feel bad for her student.
His life was truly filled with so many difficulties.
...
Arriving back in the domain, Neil quickly headed towards the settlement, while Nemo told him.
"Master, Hiroshima just reported he had found four more corpses this morning."
It had started again somehow, but what had even changed? Why did it start again?
In a terrible mood, Neil soon arrived inside the settlement and was brought to the place where the corpses were present.
This time it was inside one of the domains.
He looked up at the cameras, thankfully there was one camera placed here too.
"Anything you found?" Neil asked.
"...No, like before, there is absolutely no clue." Hiroshima said through gritted teeth, looking at the four corpses he felt like breaking.
"I will check the footage first." Neil walked out of the domain, stopping some distance away and spoke.
"Nemo, show me the footage of the last night."
Instantly a big ethereal screen opened before him and the footage started to play.
But soon, Neil’s expression changed completely as an unbelievable sight appeared before him.
