Ex-Husband CEO, Stop Messing Around!-Chapter 446 - 413: Wife, Is It Time for Prenatal Education Now?
"Who allowed you to come up here?"
In Wen Nuan’s room, she heard a knock on the door and opened it, her expression immediately freezing, her voice involuntarily tinged with coldness.
She clearly heard Pengfei’s voice, but standing at the door was Leng Yan, while Pengfei made a funny face at her from afar, saying, "Sis, don’t be mad," before quickly darting into his own room. As he reached the door, he didn’t forget to shake his fist at Leng Yan: "Brother-in-law, good luck!"
"Traitor, come back here!" Wen Nuan glared at Pengfei’s retreating back, saying fiercely. But there was no sign of Pengfei anymore, only Leng Yan standing there with a placating smile.
"Wife." Leng Yan called her tenderly, apologetically explaining, "Don’t blame Pengfei; I asked him to do this. Nuannuan, come home with me, will you?"
"That’s not my home, and also, watch what you call me, not just anyone can call me ’wife.’" Wen Nuan glanced at him, her face darkening as she grasped the door handle, intending to close the door, only to be a step too late, as his foot had already stepped in, looking at her with a pleading expression: "Nuannuan, forgive me. If not for my sake, then for the child’s sake, forgive this incompetent father, alright?"
It had been four days. Besides handling some particularly tricky issues at the Leng Family and visiting Leng Siyan at the hospital, he spent almost all his time here.
With much persistence, he explained the whole story to Wen Qingyan and Wen Pengfei, finally obtaining their forgiveness. But Nuannuan still didn’t want to forgive him, refusing to even see him. Whenever he came, she would immediately go upstairs, not giving him any chance to admit his mistakes.
"That’s my child, and none of your business," Wen Nuan said, slightly stunned, out of spite.
She heard from Tong Xi that it was Tan Qing who told him about her pregnancy. Tong Xi said that he was so overjoyed that he even forgot his luggage, with his passport and some documents inside, luckily she and Tan Qing remembered to retrieve them.
After listening to Tong Xi, she claimed it had nothing to do with her, but her heart couldn’t help but swell with sweetness.
"Wife, you can’t let the child hear that," Leng Yan said shamelessly, leaning closer, "If the child hears it, he/she will be very sad, thinking that dad and mom aren’t getting along well, and that would make him/her sad."
"Stop using the child as an excuse! Besides, it’s true, it’s not that my feelings for you are bad, they’re very bad!"
Wen Nuan glared at him, sat down on the bed, picked up a book, and flipped through it carelessly, her emotions complex and unbearable, not absorbing a single word from the book.
Leng Yan glanced at the book casually, his heart filling with joy, not just because the book was upside down, hence realizing that Wen Nuan’s calmness was an act, but also because she hadn’t sternly corrected him to call her his ex-wife after he’d called her ’wife’.
This meant there was room for the situation to improve.
Being boldly cheeky was a trick he’d recently learned to soothe his wife, and he wasn’t about to miss the chance to use it. While she didn’t reject the term, Leng Yan continued.
"Wife, the book is upside down. Reading like this isn’t good for your eyes, let me fix it for you." His face retained its cheerful expression, smiling as he helped her correct the book, holding it in his hand, flipping through it curiously, clicking his tongue in admiration, "A baby over three months is this big already, huh? Wife, can we start prenatal education now?"
Seeing that Wen Nuan didn’t respond, Leng Yan shrugged helplessly, looking at Wen Nuan’s abdomen. Gathering his courage, he secretly reached out his hand to place it over her abdomen, smiling, "Baby, how about daddy tell you a story? If you agree, let daddy know."
Tell you? If he/she started talking from inside the belly, it’d scare you to death.
Wen Nuan sneered inwardly, about to speak when she heard him deliberately use a soft baby voice, "Okay, daddy, start now."
"It’s still early for prenatal education, and I can do it myself. No need for you." His voice, childish and amusing, made it hard for Wen Nuan to maintain her serious exterior. She swatted his hand away, stood up to leave, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
"Wife." He stood up, thick-skinned, trying to hold her hand again, speaking softly, "Forgive me, I promise I won’t leave you again, alright?"
"If Leng Yan’s words were true, pigs could climb trees." Wen Nuan frowned, shaking her head to show she didn’t believe him.
"I swear!"
Leng Yan raised his right hand.
His wife was currently in a special period of pregnancy, and her bad mood was excusable. Moreover, he had made such a big mistake, he deserved her anger. As long as she was willing to reconcile with him, he didn’t care.
"Oaths are the most unreliable thing. In this world, oaths are almost equivalent to lies!"
Wen Nuan looked at him, a sarcastic smile on her lips, "If I remember correctly, you also said you would never lie to me, didn’t you? And the result?"
"Wife, you really follow entertainment news closely, don’t you, haha."
Leng Yan laughed awkwardly, holding her even tighter, "I won’t imitate them, dear wife, rest assured."
The word ’wife’ rolled more smoothly off his tongue the more he said it. And Wen Nuan, distracted by him, momentarily forgot to object.
His face leaned in, looking at her slightly pouting red lips due to anger, his tongue licked his lips, wanting to kiss but hesitating.
Wen Nuan knew what this action meant, her watery eyes staring at him, "Let go, I have something to go out for."
"Then I’ll be your driver. By the way, wife, let’s eat out tonight, at your favorite private restaurant."
Leng Yan suggested good-naturedly, releasing her slightly pronounced waist, switching to hold her hand, which she shook off: "No need, my tastes have changed."
"Then let’s pick another place; a pregnant woman’s tastes change easily, which is understandable. When you’re hungry, we’ll go wherever you want."
"I just want to eat at home!"
Wen Nuan glared at him, "Also, I can’t afford a driver like Young Master Leng."
She was determined to make Leng Yan suffer this time, to let him remember forever not to deceive her again.
"Wife, I’m a free driver." Leng Yan shamelessly followed, as Wen Nuan dodged, his leg bumped into the bed leg, wincing in pain as he crouched down, clutching his calf.
"What happened?" Wen Nuan saw little beads of sweat on his forehead, momentarily startled. As she looked down to where he was clutching, her face changed dramatically.
"Don’t look!"
Leng Yan covered her eyes with one hand, his voice slightly trembling.
That night, almost subduing the man with the scar, the man with the scar viciously pulled out a dagger, slashing his raised leg, causing a lot of blood loss. Fortunately, a patrolling officer passed by, helping to subdue the man and send him to the hospital for timely bandaging.
The place that got hit was exactly where the scarred man had cut, already bandaged but not completely healed. Now, with a violent impact, the wound suddenly tore open, oozing fresh blood.
Wen Nuan sometimes fainted at the sight of blood, and he didn’t dare let her see it. Hence, he covered her eyes, his voice a little altered.
"You’re injured?" Wen Nuan pried away the hand covering her, to check his wound, tears welling up in her eyes, "It’s so serious, why didn’t you tell me?"
"You wouldn’t give me a chance to talk."
Leng Yan said the general course of events, full of grievances, his eyes couldn’t hide the joy streaming out, he looked at Wen Nuan with affection-filled eyes, already forgetting the pain, "Nuannuan, I knew you wouldn’t ignore me."
"Who cares about you!"
Wen Nuan’s words remained stern, but her heart ached, remembering there was a medicine kit at home, she quickly helped him sit by the bed, her eyes brimming with tears, "I’ll go get some gauze."
Having often faced Leng Ye’s injuries, she gradually got used to not fainting at the sight of blood, even learning bandaging from a special nurse.
"No need, I’m fine." Leng Yan’s heart was as sweet as honey, he felt no hatred for the pain from the wound, but rather immense gratitude. As Wen Nuan reached the door, he suddenly reached out, turning her shoulders, Wen Nuan’s back leaning on the door, her body held tightly by him.
Tightly, unwilling to let go.
"I’m going to get something."
This posture, Wen Nuan suddenly remembered, being pressed against the wall, and him kissing her forcefully, her face flushed, wanting to break free.
How could Leng Yan let that happen, her rosy lips, like a fresh strawberry, gleaming, Leng Yan’s throat itched, and he lowered his head to kiss her.
He hadn’t tasted them in a long time. They were as fragrant and sweet as ever, evoking beautiful memories.
He understood her body, Wen Nuan being kissed until she almost lost her breath, her soft and warm body stimulating every nerve of his.
"No!"
Wen Nuan suddenly snapped out of it, quickly pushing him away.
"Wife." He called softly, eyes showing a trace of hurt and apology, "I’m sorry, I was too impatient."
"Good that you know." Wen Nuan hmph-ed, quickly tidying her clothes, turning to leave.
"Wife, don’t ignore me, okay?"
Leng Yan was taken aback, thinking she was angry because of his recklessness just now, panic turning his eyes red.
"I’m going to get gauze." Wen Nuan sighed softly, looking down at where he was bleeding, frowning with heartache.
Leng Yan was overjoyed, his heart filled with a warm feeling from Nuannuan’s care, his throat warm and tinged with a slight pain relaying to his nerves, his eyes filled with tender affection, "Wife, are you going to forgive me now?"
"When you’ve sincerely acknowledged your faults, then speak. Go and write a review."
Wen Nuan broke free from his hold, opened the door, and left.
"Wife, be careful on the stairs." Leng Yan’s voice followed, he leaned against the door frame, watching her descend the steps, his eyes filled with tenderness, his tone steady and powerful:
"Wife, I shouldn’t have been so self-righteous and noble, shouldn’t have chosen to escape when faced with such situations, and definitely shouldn’t have left my most beloved wife, Nuannuan. I won’t make such a low-level mistake again. No matter what happens, I will face it positively, and nothing should separate you, me, and the baby... No, nothing should separate us."
Downstairs, Wen Nuan stood at the stairway, gently wiping away the tears that slid down her cheeks, her lips slowly forming a smile.
