Ex-Husband CEO, Stop Messing Around!-Chapter 461 - 425: He Actually Let Her Go Hungry
Tong Xi’s face turned red, "You’ve got it wrong, he is not..."
At least not at the moment.
"Sit for a while, I’ll ask the doctor about the anti-inflammatory medicine," Tan Qing interrupted her and quickly left.
Watching his broad back, Tong Xi shook her head in confusion.
She didn’t understand why Tan Qing interrupted her, in fact, neither did Tan Qing himself.
When leaving the hospital, he still carried her horizontally. Tong Xi did not refuse, wrapping her arms gently around his body, leaning closer, feeling very secure with him. At that moment, she had an impulse to grow old with him in an instant.
"Be careful, here, a soft cushion under your feet would make it more comfortable." Once in the car, Tan Qing fastened her seatbelt and placed a soft cushion under her foot. His attentive actions made Tong Xi’s nose tingle with emotion.
What kind of luck would it be to marry such a man, she really wanted to experience it.
"Godmother, what’s wrong again?"
Seeing her eyes glistening with tears, Tan Qing quickly handed her a tissue, "I really didn’t mean to touch your foot, please forgive me, OK?"
"What if I don’t want to?" Tong Xi glanced at him sideways and pointed to her ankle, "The doctor said not to lift it much in the next couple of days, how am I supposed to go upstairs?"
Although it’s the second floor, she still has to walk up there, and she has to prepare her own food. She’s not at home where her parents take care of her. Nuannuan is a pregnant woman now, and she didn’t want to trouble her either.
"I’ll have someone find a nanny for you to take care of your meals properly."
Tan Qing sighed and took out his phone to make a call, but she quickly snatched it away.
"No sincerity!"
Tong Xi gave him a side-long glance.
Tan Qing shrugged, "Please, Lady Tong, enlighten me, how would you like to handle this?"
"Is it your fault?" she blinked complacently and counted on her fingers, "First, I injured my foot because I went to your house and had to drink a glass of wine under your parents’ enthusiasm, which led to the fall.
Second, today’s further injury was because you upset me with your words, and I retaliated in anger.
Third, though I suffered minor injuries, if I don’t go to MT, people might think it’s too delicate of me on my first day, which won’t be good for you. I can only tough it out; ultimately, it’s because of you too."
"I plead guilty," Tan Qing drooped his head, glancing up slightly, "So what does the elderly madam intend?"
"I’m not old!" Tong Xi pouted.
Tan Qing chuckled, "Yes, you’re not old, you’re a beautiful young lady. So, Miss Beautiful Young Lady, how do you suggest we resolve this?"
"Well, I’m really going to say it now," Tong Xi’s eyes twinkled with mischief:
"To show sincerity, for the next three days, you’ll serve me. Of course, my needs are simple: take me back home and pick me up for work every day, and manage my three meals a day. We’ll settle lunch in the company cafeteria to spare my foot the hassle. For breakfast, you bring it up for me, and dinner..."
She thought for a moment, then made a bold decision, "Go to the supermarket downstairs from my place, buy things, and you’re responsible for cooking."
"What? You want me to cook for you?"
Tan Qing widened his eyes and gritted his teeth, "Tong Xi, your demands are too much!"
"I’m helping you now, in other words, I’m your benefactor. Is this how you treat a benefactor?" Tong Xi stared back fearlessly, "Who said that as long as I help you, you’d be willing to do anything for me? It’s just a three-day servant duty, at least it’s a human level, not ox or horse, and you refuse?"
"I..."
"I see through you now; what you said when you begged for my help were just sweet lies," Tong Xi glared at him resentfully, lowering her head to look at her foot, sighing miserably, "Forget it, I’ll just handle things myself. I won’t cover for you with your parents anymore either."
Tan Qing was stuck, biting his lip for a long moment, "Deal!"
"Now that’s more like someone repaying a favor."
Tong Xi looked at Tan Qing, a bright smile spreading on her red lips, making Tan Qing’s heart skip a beat. Quickly averting his gaze, he looked out the window at the scenery, "Back to the office now."
He had a pile of important matters to address today; because of Tong Xi’s foot injury, he postponed a major client meeting by an hour. Yet, who knew, this little girl wouldn’t let it go, retaliating for his inadvertent mistakes.
"Give me more assignments, Master, I can handle it." Tong Xi looked at the pitifully small pile of work on her desk and volunteered to Lin Xue.
Too little, she came to work, not to play.
Lin Xue smirked, "Young Master Tan specifically instructed earlier that only after you’ve fully recovered in three days would new tasks be added, to take it easy during these days."
"Really?"
Tong Xi doubted, but her eyes still sparkled with light.
"Of course." Lin Xue smiled ambiguously, "Relax, Young Master Tan is a good man, and he cares about you very much."
"But..." Tong Xi’s lips curled into a smile, thought for a moment, but played it down, "Thank you, Master."
As for that photo, she thought it best if only he knew about it. Tan Qing was a man who valued his pride; having a picture of Nuannuan on his sun visor, he surely wouldn’t want others to know.
Before lunch break, Tan Qing routinely ordered food, waiting for the delivery, when he suddenly remembered his agreement with Tong Xi.
"Xixi, is there anything you would like me to bring you?" Lin Xue asked enthusiastically at the end of the day.
"No need, thank you, Master."
Tong Xi smiled sweetly, "I’ll go and eat a bit later."
She and Tan Qing had arranged to go to the company cafeteria together, staying dutifully in the office waiting for him to come find her.
"Is your foot alright?" Lin Xue expressed doubt but her eyes were filled with amusement, suddenly understanding. She blinked, "Little girl, you’ve got another plan, huh? But Young Master Tan is a good man, go chase him hard."
Walking out of the office, Lin Xue chuckled softly. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Apparently, there wasn’t a need for her and Wen Nuan to deliberately matchmake; they could soon get together themselves. Tong Xi seemed well-prepared already, just waiting for Tan Qing to change his heart.
As hunger grew, yet Tan Qing was still nowhere to be seen. Tong Xi lay on her desk, her heart bubbling with bitterness.
He actually let her go hungry!
He couldn’t have forgotten, right? Was she too confident that he would take care of her?
Biting her lip, she pulled out the phone number and called for food delivery.
Not having breakfast to avoid being late for work made her head swim, unforgiving to her throwing a tantrum against her own body.
Putting down the phone, a bitter smile appeared on her lips. Closing her eyes, Tan Qing’s image floated before her, the sour and swollen sensation filling her heart. The delivery would take a while, waiting, bored, she gritted her teeth and carefully made her way to the elevator.
She didn’t want to give up just like that. She wanted to question Tan Qing on why he was doing this. She wasn’t so lowly as to be treated like a three-year-old child, coaxed earlier, only to be ignored later.
