Extra And MC-Chapter 188 - 184 - On To The Next
-Thwack-!!
-Thwack-!!
Feeling themselves waking up with a painful sensation in their guts, the demons whom had been abducted by Aiden and Flynn, opened their pitch-black eyes, their vision bleary…
… only to suddenly clear up as they felt themselves gracelessly and brutally careening across a glacial terrain, icicles splintering into fine dust.
Quickly getting up from the ground, unable to wrap their head around what had happened to them, both creatures exclaimed in confusion.
"(Where are we?!)"
"(How did we get here?!)"
"Ah~. Guess violence truly is the only solution. Right Flynn?" the voice of a human cascaded over into their ears, the casualness to it putting them on edge.
"Well, peace was never an option anyway. If they’re so hell-bent on invading us, might as well give them a taste of hell too. Literally" another voice added, a similarly relaxed feel in his voice too.
As the two demons, looked around them, a horrific expression painted their faces.
"(T-T-This… This is impossible…)" the first demon stammered as he struggled to comprehend the sight before him.
"(So… So many of our brethren…)" the other, had an expression of fear gradually painting his face.
All around them, were the decapitated heads, limbs and body parts of multiple demons numbering in the hundreds.
Judging by the strong scent of their blackish blood in the air too, it was all very recent.
No sooner had they taken in the blood-soaked sight around them, they located the source of the voices they had previously heard, their eyes landing on two youths a few meters ahead of them.
One was squatting, his blood-soaked katana stuck into the glacial ice as he lightly gripped its Tsuka, while the other, crossed his legs while leaning on the hilt of his similarly bloodstained greatsword which was also etched into the glacial ice.
Both had the most relaxed, nonchalant expression on their features as they gazed at the two demons, further putting them on edge.
Now fully aware of their surroundings, the demons realized that they were in the middle of a frozen sea of blackish-red, its expanse wintry as far as the eye could see.
But more than that, what was sending even more terrifying, bone-chilling waves of fear running down the entire length of their spines, were the four Valkyries with their wings spread out, sitting atop an ice-berg a few meters behind the two youths.
"(It’s them! They’re the ones we were warned about!)" one of the demons panicked, realizing just how dire the situation was.
"(Quick! Run away!)" the other had immediately took to the skies in an attempt to escape, the other following suit.
Seeing this, Aiden and Flynn simply sighed.
About to stop him, they heard the instructions from their mentors cascading over to their ears.
"Remember. No mana. No Aether. No weapon arts. No potions. Only Prana" Ashildr casually stated.
"And no drawing energy from the celestial orbs! Also, you have only five seconds to kill them. Any more than that and you’ll be back to sparring with me!" Sigrun added a frankly unfair condition on the spur, a wicked glint in her eyes that sent chills running down the spines of the two youths.
’Darn battle maniac!’ Flynn and Aiden inwardly cussed, only to be reprimanded.
"We can read your thoughts you know" Senya pointed out and Morrigan coolly added;
"Tick Tock…"
Without even a single moment wasted, Aiden and Flynn, blinked right before the escaping demons, their weapons descending in a deadly arc.
Raising his arms up to guard, the demon whom Flynn was targeting, coated said arms with a hue of nether energy, in an effort to defend himself from the youth.
-Clang-!!
The moment they clashed, still suspended in mid-air, Geldeth realized that he and the silvery-green haired human before him were evenly matched and probably in similar power levels.
’(I can win!)’ he inwardly declared, a surge of motivation coursing through his veins…
…only to be shattered to pieces as he watched the same youth, piercing through his heart from behind.
-Kach-!
’(When did he… Kah!)’
-Spurt-!!
’(How…)’ Geldeth could only question in confusion as two versions of the same youth, simultaneously decapitated him in an instant, one cleanly severing his head and the other, severing his entire torso in half.
Flynn on the other hand, obviously glad that he had killed of the demon within Sigrun’s unfair time limit, casually reabsorbed the Doppelganger of himself as he fell to the ground.
As for the Talroth, the other demon, after having released a hue of nether energy that pushed Aiden backwards into the air, inhaled to release a dark orb of sinister energy that he instantly fired!
-Twoom-!!
Watching as the orb of malicious nether energy, hurtled forwards, mere inches away from colliding with Aiden whom was still falling at mid-air, Talroth inwardly exclaimed;
’(I’ve won!)’
-Snap-!
"(What the?! Why am I here?!)" the demon screamed in horror as he watched his dark orb of sinister energy, mere inches away from his face!
No.
Rather, it would be safe to say, that he switched places with Aiden, all as a result of the youth’s Spatial Shift.
Instantly discontinuing the attack, causing it to evaporate right before his face, Talroth watched in terror as Aiden blinked into his field of view, his greatsword already descending with an inhuman speed.
Raising his arms up just in the nick of time and coating it with nether energy, the demon watched in horror as said hands, despite being fortified with nether, akin to the properties of a diamond, was cleanly severed off.
-Kach-!!
And just like that, Talroth watched as his field of vision also turned upside down in the fraction of a second, his heads flying right off his neck as dark-red blood, spewed across the air in a semi-circular arc.
-Spurt-!!!
"Tch!" Sigrun loudly clicked her tongue, causing the two youths, both of whom were still descending from the air to direct a deep frown in her direction.
’This darn Valkyrie…’ they both inwardly commented.
Giggling a bit, Senya who was just beside her sister, reprimanded;
"Stop torturing them with your frankly unfair conditions Sigrun"
"Did you forget the hell their parents put us through? I mean, I’m not one to hold grudges but, well, I do want some payback" the Valkyrie stated, a shamelessly playful yet wicked grin on her features.
"Besides, on a more serious note, they need to always be on their toes pending the invasion. We all know the Frontlines is going to be a literal hellhole in a few months but they don’t." Sigrun’s expression turned solemn as the other Valkyries nodded.
-Thud-!
-Thud-!
Watching as both youths landed with light thuds, Ashildr casually stated with a light smile;
"Good job though you two. You’re rapidly gaining a good level of mastery over it"
"Thank you Ashildr" the youths responded with a genuine smile.
Prana, an energy which comes from the will of one’s soul was an energy that the brothers had come to visualize like a brightly burning white flame in their hearts.
Since it wasn’t a particularly tangible energy that could be felt, one of the major things that differentiated it from mana, Prana was an energy that required a strong visualization from the user as its source came from mostly within.
Jumping down from the iceberg, her sisters following suit, the Valkyries watched as Aiden and Flynn retrieved a familiar notebook.
"So, I think we’ve covered every supposed irregular fissure with demons that’s going to pop up for the next few minutes…" Aiden commented as he flipped through the notes.
"Yeah. We have about five minutes to rest before the next one pops up" Flynn followed up, lightly tapping his lips whilst musing to himself.
"That being said, there’s still over ten more irregular fissures and fifteen more demons we need to kill off today…" he added with a small sigh.
"How did you guys cope with constantly doing this for the past few hundred years, reiterations and resets included?" Aiden then asked, a strong hint of respect in his tone, one to which Ashildr replied with a thin smile.
"Perseverance. Lots and lots of perseverance"
Considering Xavier and the Valkyries had spent the past few hundred years re-experiencing the end of Arcanora, they more or less had the time, location and appearance of every irregular fissure down.
Although, they had mostly just spent the first few hundred years studying the last events before the world ends, the amount of years they had employed stopping the fissures themselves wasn’t any less.
That was why Aiden and Flynn knew; it took a serious amount of patience, willpower and perseverance for all five of them to have being so dedicated to doing the same thing, over and over again.
"That being said, you two should always keep in mind that these demons that you’ve been killing are nothing compared to the actual threat we’ll face once they come in full-droves." Senya was the one to speak this time as Sigrun added;
"In fact, these current ones that have been invading Arcanora are more or less scouts and a test drive for that bastard"
"He’s trying to gauge the strength of this world’s inhabitants so, never for once, get complacent. Understood?" Morrigan coolly yet authoritatively warned the youths.
"Noted!" Flynn and Aiden simultaneously responded.

"Good" the Valkyrie nodded, gently patting the two on the head.
As she did, her sisters couldn’t help but chuckle as her usually cool demeanor, became a bit softer.
Aiden and Flynn on the other hand, simply watched on, not really sure of what to say or do as she kept stroking their heads.
Due to this, the comfortable silence persisted between all six.
Soon though, Sigrun broke the ambience.
"Five minutes are up! On to the next you two." she informed the youths.
With a curt, resolute nod, Aiden and Flynn blinked, disappearing from the spot they previously were.
