"Nice to meet you all. Let’s begin."

Upon speaking those words, the wide holographic screen behind A-class’s instructor suddenly lit up as the man began to read out the attendance of the one-hundred and fifty cadets assigned to him without so much as an explanation.

"John Doe" the instructor called out and instantly, as if to respond to him, the holographic screen behind him brought out all of the cadet’s details with a picture, specifically age, [Series], {Weapon Art} and core rank.

// John Doe – [Metallic Series] – {Phoenix Art} – (Low-tier C rank) //

"John Doe?" the instructor called out again, his cool voice cascading through the air of the classroom.

"P-present!" the youth who was taken aback just like the rest of the class quickly responded this time with a shout.

However, the instructor didn’t seem to mind as he looked down at the podium where the tablet was placed and swiftly called the next name.

"Ailyn West"

// Ailyn West – [Flame Series] – {Leviathan Art} – (High-tier C rank) //

"Present!"

"Cameron Fischer"

// Cameron Fisher – … – (Mid-tier C rank) //

"Present!"

"Lilian Brook"

// Lilian Brook – … – (Mid-tier C rank) //

"Present!"

As their instructor kept calling out the names of the cadets, every other cadet who was not being called would divert their attention to the holographic screen behind him, curious to know about the details of the individuals that were called, especially their core ranks.

Considering the names were randomly arranged, their names weren’t called in an orderly manner at all so every cadet had to be on alert to respond in time to when they were called.

Soon enough, just like the cadets had been anticipating, he started calling the names of the more famous nobles in class randomly too.

Starting from Ben Steelblade who had a mid-tier B-rank core, down to Amelia, Lucas, Bryan, Beatrice, Caroline and Adrian who all had high-tier B-rank cores, the hushed noises of the class that had been kept at a contained volume, gradually began to transform into a buzz of surprised voices and impressed gasps.

"Good lord! Almost all of them are about to reach A-rank!" a female cadet spoke in a fairly audible yet hushed tone.

"That’s insane!" a male cadet added.

"Truly a generation of geniuses…" another male cadet stated, genuine awe in his voice.

It had been said so many times that the current generation of youths in Arcadia, especially the nobles, were truly talented but, actually seeing how true those words were, the cadets in the class couldn’t help but voice their awes.

However, just as the noise slowly began to increase beyond reason, the calm male instructor before them only had to raise one his hands up while uttering a single word to send the class into a state of silence again, still with his attention on the tablet.

"Silence!" he calmly spoke but this time, his voice was a few degrees colder.

Following that, the classroom instantly went into a still state again, with only the instructor’s cool voice and the voices of the cadet who were answering when they were called, remaining in the classroom.

Very soon though, the brown haired instructor called a few peculiar names at different intervals, instantly catching the attention of most of the cadets in class who had been quite curious about their core ranks.

"Ivelia Steelblade" the handsome instructor called.

// Ivelia Steelblade – … – (High-tier C rank) //

"Present!" Ivelia responded immediately.

"Ivar Steelblade" he called a few seconds after calling another cadet’s name.

// Ivar Steelblade – … – (Mid-tier C rank) //

"Present!" Ivar replied swiftly.

Once again, the buzzing hum of noises was about to begin in the classroom but the instructor called another cadet immediately after, his tone even much colder than before, and without having to be told, the class descended into another wave of silence.

After a few more seconds, the instructor called another cadet whose name had yet to be called since, immediately garnering all of the class’s attention again.

"Flynn Belmont"

// Flynn Belmont – … – (Low-tier B rank) //

"Present" Flynn calmly responded, still with his slightly curled fist propping his head.

However, following this, all of the nobles in the class who had yet to know about Flynn’s current core rank, glanced in his direction and kept staring, complete shock on their faces while the commoners just wondered in confusion as to why their reaction was so.

Adrian along with Beatrice and Bryan who were seated directly in the seat in front of him, whipped their heads backwards to stare at him, utter disbelief painting the shocked expressions on their faces.

Even Lucas and Amelia, along with Ben who were seated directly behind his row of seats, had exactly similar expressions on their faces as they stared at him.

Despite all this though, Flynn kept staring at his profile on the wide holographic screen as it switched to the next candidate without even a single change in his normal expression while thinking to himself.

’I wonder how they’ll react when they see Aiden’s…’

’Is that even possible?!’ the nobles however were currently asking themselves, still with utter disbelief on their faces.

’Did the Belmont’s lie about their younger son’s core rank? they asked themselves but just like their parents had also surmised on the day of the entrance exam, they immediately discarded that idea.

It just didn’t make any sense to them!

Then did Flynn rank up to become a B-tier ranker from his D-tier core rank in just over three years?! Something that would usually take four to five years?! And that was even if the individual was lucky?!

Even then, that still sounded ridiculously absurd even to them!

But just as they were still trying to wrap their heads around the oddity that was Flynn Belmont’s core rank, they were thrown for another crazy loop.

Never, not even in their wildest dreams, could they ever have expected what they were looking at to be far more shocking than Flynn’s core rank as they stared at Aiden’s profile the moment their instructor called out his name.

"Aiden Belmont" the instructor called out, his expression unchanging even as he saw Aiden’s core rank.

// Aiden Belmont – … – (Low-tier A rank) //

"Present…" Aiden responded calmly too, his expression unchanging as he also stared at his own profile screen.

"A-rank?!!" one black-haired youth in particular stood up in utter disbelief following this reveal while continuously alternating his gaze between the Aiden himself and the screen.

"Luke Hart… Take your seat now. I’d appreciate some decorum in my class" the instructor calmly spoke without even looking up from the tablet, surprising even the youth himself that the instructor, despite only calling his name a few minutes ago, had seemingly remembered his name.

Upon calling the name of every single cadet present and ensuring that they were actually present in his class, the brown-haired instructor, casually switched off the tablet and moved away from the podium to stand in the middle of the elevated platform.

"Now that that’s out of the way, I’ll begin the orientation" he began calmly, his posture professional yet relaxed as he spoke.

"First things first… you’ll need to explore the academy on your own" he calmly began.

"There’s a fair amount of mini districts here at the academy, enough to make up a fairly large city so the entirety of this week will be given to you to familiarize yourself with where you’ll be living for the next few years" he explained.

"Classes will begin properly next week" he added.

"Now for the second, and also the final and the most important…" he stated, his eyes scanning through the long rows of seated cadets after which he then spoke in continuation.

"Credits (C). That’s the currency the academy uses" he declared, the rapt attention of all the cadets now on him.

"Asides from the academy providing you all with the most basic necessity like shelter, along with the education that’s required of us to impact upon you, over time, you’ll come to realize that having more than enough credits is the only way you’ll ever get by here at Arcana Academy" he explained even further.

"So how do I get credits?" he questioned rhetorically.

"Well that’s very possible via a multitude of ways" he continued, his smooth, calm and cool voice melding perfectly with the class’s silent atmosphere.

"There’s something called a quest board here at the academy. On it you’ll find various tasks on which depending on its difficulty, will give you the appropriate credits necessary once the submission of the completed task is done and processed"

"I’ll leave figuring out the rest of how the quest board operates and where it’s located to you guys" he added calmly, a slight smile on his lips.

"Asides from that though, you can also get credits through performing well on your tests and exams. Your score on each test or exam equates to the credits you’ll get so find a middle ground between training and actually learning stuff that will suit you" he advised.

"Other ways you can get credits include dueling between agreed parties or joining a committee or the student council, along with many more other ways I’ll leave for you guys to find out about…" he added.

"Your credits will be stored in a special smartwatch that the academy has provided to you all. You’ll find it in your dorm rooms once you get there" he pointed out.

"An initial credit amount of 1000C has been assigned to every cadet. Use it wisely" he once again advised.

"As to how much a single credit equates to…" their instructor stated, upon which after taking a slight pause, completed the sentence.

"It’s exactly similar to Arceum (AR)" he commented casually, causing some commoner youths to gasp in utter disbelief.

Most of them had never been given that much money in their lives so the sudden idea of being in control of such amount was really shocking to them.

"Now, for those of you who performed exceedingly well at the entrance exams, you’ll be given your rewards before the end of today. Look forward to it."

The instructor upon saying all that he wanted to say, now gave a serious expression while adding a few more words.

"Arcana Academy welcomes you all with open arms but we won’t be pampering you one bit" he declared, his tone serious and completely devoid of any lies.

"You’re all aspiring rankers so we’ll be treating you like one" he calmly said, after which he then continued.

"And a ranker must be able to use everything they have to get the best possible outcome. That is what we’re planning to teach you here at the Academy"

"Now, with all that being said, does anyone have a question?" asked the brown-haired instructor calmly, his gaze scanning through the quiet classroom who had been paying rapt attention to his every word.

The class however just gazed back at him resolutely in response, all of their questions seemingly answered.

"In the absence of no questions, I shall take my leave then. Good day." their class instructor declared, his legs already carrying him towards the door after swiping his tablet from the podium.

However, as he was about to leave, a female cadet whose platinum blonde hair was styled in a brunette, asked a question everyone had been wondering about from the very first moment he had entered their classroom.

"We are yet to have your name sir…" she asked, her voice clear and calm as she stared at the handsome man in his forties who was about to leave their classroom.

The instructor upon hearing this, stood still for a moment as he was about leave and instead of answering the question that was posed to him, did something completely unexpected.

"From the left corner at the sixth row, the middle seat at the third row, the first seat at the right front row, the last left seat on the fifth row and the third seat on the last row" he calmly began, catching everyone off-guard.

"Your names are Allen Blade, Maya Arendelle, Elijah Cross, Fiona Willow and Helen Lombardi" he declared swiftly, surprising both the cadets whose names he had accurately guessed and the rest of the class, asides Aiden and Flynn of course.

"You’re all cadets of my class so I’ve made it a priority to know all of your names" he casually explained after which he then continued.

"So Rylie Springbloom, along with the rest of you who are also curious…" he said again, this time to the female cadet who had requested for his name along with the rest of the class.

"Do put in a bit of effort to also find out the name of your class’s assigned instructor" he declared with a slight smile and upon doing so, left the classroom immediately.

Upon leaving the cadets of the classroom who were still taken aback by their supposed instructor’s words, Flynn and Aiden glanced at each other, and almost as if they could read each other’s minds, said the exact same thing inwardly with a knowing look on their faces.

’Darius Forge. A truly peculiar instructor…’
