Immediately after spotting Caroline, Ivar and Bryan all running back towards their area of the training grounds, Ivelia quickly whipped her head back towards Flynn.
The youth who was now currently in a locked battle again with Lucas, had a slightly smug smile playing on his lips, his eyes glancing back to Ivelia’s for a very brief moment.
The orange haired lady upon seeing this, had her eyes widen in realization.
Whatever the cause of those three who were respectively, hero, victim and villain were currently running back over here together for, it meant that they were of one goal.
A single goal that was definitely as a result of whatever it was Flynn had previously typed on his smartwatch.
Destroying their crystal!
Now although Ivelia very much wanted to ask Flynn just how he had managed to get them all on the same page, now was not the time.
She had to be completely alert now that three cadets who were quite strong in their own right, could tip the scale of the battle in the villain’s favor.
Caroline had been the first to get near their area, all while battling through a fair few number of cadets trying to prevent her from getting past their lines and destroying their crystal.
"Why is Caroline here?!"
"Wasn’t she assigned as a victim?!"
Although they were all baffled by why a victim was participating in the match instead of doing the job that was assigned to her, they didn’t pay it any heed and just focused on blocking her path.
"Someone stop her from mov-…. Arrggh!!"
But that’s easier said than done because Caroline ensured to fight her way past all of them, eventually reaching close to the area where splotched liquids of explosive potion were.
-Grrrgggkkk!
As she was about to use a spell to attack the cadets that made the barrier, the silky black-haired lady, felt the ground below her tremble uncontrollably.
Raising her bright red eyes that could currently be described as akin to a blood moon upwards, the lady watched as Ivelia used an earth spell that was focused on causing her to lose balance and land onto the splotches of potions.
Undeterred by the shaky grounds caused by Ivelia, Caroline swiftly used her [Thornsnare] spell, summoning thorny, green rosy vines from directly underneath and ensnaring two of the cadets who were maintaining the one of the barriers.
-Tuk! Thwip!
This action immediately caused the middle barrier to dissipate due to the fact that her vines were completely holding them to the ground and restricting the caster’s and supporter’s movements.
Ivar who by now had now also arrived finally, had to deal with a few cadets of his own who were currently branding him as a traitor but without minding them, the youth used his [Earthgrasp] spell to push them out of the way.
Upon reaching the first barrier, Ivar retrieved a transparent white vial containing a similar transparent liquid potion.
Ivelia who had realized how potent the potion Ivar was about to throw was, quickly tried to extend the range of the [Tremor] spell over to him but it was too late.
Ivar had already thrown the potion and upon crashing onto the barrier, caused a big explosion that even the cadet casting the barrier and the other supporting him, could not hold the barrier against.
-BOOOOM!!!
Now, only one barrier was left!
-Grrrgggkkk!!!
By now though, Ivelia had completely spread the [Tremor] spell around her, extending its range over to Ivar and every other person within its vicinity, preventing them from being able to stand properly, much less even think of attacking.
Only five minutes was left on the clock and if she could hold on till then, then it would be the heroes’ victory.
Flynn who watched as this happened, swiftly left his battle with Lucas upon sensing his brother who was now dashing from afar with mana sense.
"Where do you think yo-"
Before Lucas could complete his statement however, Bryan jumped in to stop him, substituting for Flynn in an instant.
"Thanks!" Flynn said, immediately dashing towards the crystal.
-Clang!
"Don’t mention it. You did offer a sweet deal after all!" Bryan responded, his titanium gauntlet blocking Lucas’s twin daggers.
He was the last person before Aiden that Flynn had contacted and now that he was here, Flynn could finally leave Lucas to him and focus on destroying the crystal.
"Bryan! You also switched sides huh?!" Lucas asked with annoyance, his dagger creating sparks as it clashed with Bryan’s gauntlets.
"What do you mean switched sides? I was already a villain to begin with!" Bryan responded as a matter-of-factly to the blonde-haired youth he was currently clashing weapons with.
Ivelia who was still maintaining her [Tremor] spell around her in a circular mana with both arms outstretched, watched as a spinning greatsword slammed onto the last barrier with an immense force, completely breaking it apart in an instant.
It was, as to be expected, Aiden’s greatsword.
After finally beating the crap out of the cadets who had kept chasing after him from the moment the impromptu exercise began, Aiden eventually came back as Flynn requested of him.
Now although he was quite far away from the barrier when he threw the greatsword, Aiden’s [Grav Boost] spell along with his own A-ranker strength had made it possible for him to destroy the barrier from afar easily.
Now as the last barrier was finally down, with all the other villains namely Adrian, Beatrice and Bryan presently locked in a battle with hero counterparts of other cadets, Flynn swiftly moved towards the crystal, intent on breaking it.
Just before reaching the area where the tremors caused by Ivelia were, two youths, one male and the other female, suddenly jumped in to stop him from advancing further.
They were Ben and Amelia.
Flynn without even stopping his advance, unsheathed his katana and in an instant, threw it past both youths at a phenomenal speed, totally catching them off-guard.
-Twish!
Now, unable to stop his katana from breaking the crystal apart, Amelia and Ben still turned around and tried to dash towards it in an effort to stop the katana, despite knowing it was futile.
-Thruggkk!!
However, just as they thought that all hope was lost, they watched as the small yet localized earthquakes around them stopped and almost instantaneously, a single slab of rough vertical earthen wall, jutted out from the ground and smacked the katana upwards.
-Clang!
Ivelia, just in the nick of time had been able to stop Flynn’s katana from breaking apart their crystal by switching over to her [Wall Formation] spell.
Now, as relief watched over the faces of the cadets of A-class who were given the role of heroes with just a few seconds to spare, Flynn let out a smug smirk.
Ivelia who had seen this watched as Flynn instantly positioned one of his mana slates directly behind the hilt of his spinning katana.
Like a pool player about to perform a trick shot with his billiard balls, the youth hit the katana’s hilt with enough force to send it back down, directly towards the crystal.
"Shatter…" Flynn calmly said with a relaxed expression while snapping his fingers.
Just as he did, the katana sliced through the air with a whistling sound and shattered the slightly floating hexagonal white crystal in an instant, reducing it to nothing but shimmering particles.
-Krack!!
The relief on the faces of the heroes immediately turned sour as they watched Flynn crush their hopes and destroy their crystal in an instant.
-Trrriiiinnnggg!!!
All their smartwatches, as if already bugged with a timer, let out a long beep, indicating that the exercise was now finally over and just as this sudden exercise had begun, it had also ended.
Some cadets had their heads slumped down in defeat while others rejoiced, not just from A-class but all the various other classes who had been participating in the exercise, each focused on the victory and losses of their own classes.
Following this, Ivelia who had been standing on the crystal, began to fall onto the ground but luckily for her, Flynn positioned all of his slates directly beneath her like a small platform, causing her to land gently onto it.
The youth then controlled the slates now turned small platform with the young lady atop it who currently seemed to be sulking, to move towards him.
Upon directly reaching just a few inches away from him, Flynn with a relaxed smile on his face, said to Ivelia who was sitting on floating slates.
"Guess I won the bet then…"
Ivelia in response to his words, just placed her arms placed across her chest, fitting perfectly with her legs which were already crossed in a sitting position too.
The lady then gave a slightly displeased pout, almost as if to tell him she was not going to respond to his words.
Flynn in response just chuckled at this but soon enough, all of the cadet’s smartwatches began to beep again simultaneously.
On their watches, individual credits were assigned to them based on their performances and the points they got for completing the tasks if they managed to.
As Ivelia viewed her smartwatch, she was surprised to see that despite not getting any major tasks done, she was given 1280C based off of her individual performance alone.
’But it doesn’t even matter now…’ Ivelia thought to herself.
Not only her but even Flynn, Caroline, Aiden, Adrian, Beatrice, Bryan and Ivar had all gotten far more points than the tasks they had actually completed.
As they all kept viewing this, Caroline casually walked over to where Flynn and Ivelia were and with a slightly concealed yet teasing tone, she said to Ivelia.
"So you lost the bet hmm…"
"Regretfully so…" Ivelia responded, the slight pout still adorning her face as she stretched her hands out, placing it on Flynn’s hair which was directly in front and below her.
Flynn on the other hand, didn’t even seem to mind her gesture as he began to transfer credits from his smartwatch to Ivar, Caroline and Bryan.
"Is that so…" Caroline giggled to herself, her smartwatch beeping once again, indicating that Flynn had transferred the credits he promised to her.
Ivelia however who was now stroking Flynn’s hair, didn’t even pay attention to it and just kept sulking.
Aiden finally also made his way over along with Adrian, Beatrice, Ivar and Bryan.
"So apparently, I still got the reward for abducting you till the end…" Aiden said to Caroline upon reaching her.
"Well no hero saved me really… Guess I still was your victim till the very end then" Caroline responded with a sly smile.
"That’s such a weird way to put it…" Aiden replied, a slightly baffled expression gracing his face.
"I know… but I’d let you kidnap me any day" the lady responded with an even more suggestive smile, her eyes staring straight into his.
Aiden just arched one of his eyebrows in surprise at Caroline’s words.
"That was a close one Flynn…" Adrian on the other hand, tiredly said upon reaching them.
"It really was. I have to say though. Nice trick shot Flynn!" Beatrice complimented the youth.
"Thanks princess. I still believe it was a team effort though" Flynn politely replied.
"Speaking of team effort, why did you all suddenly drop your assigned roles and come back to help?" Beatrice spoke again, her voice dyed with curiosity.
All the youths in question, without even saying anything, just pointed their fingers at Flynn, almost as if branding him the culprit.
The culprit they were referring to however, just rested his head on the floating slates with a relaxed expression, Ivelia still stroking his hair.
Everyone around them, except Aiden, Caroline and Ivar, couldn’t help but watch with a bit of confusion as the orange-haired lady continuously kept stroking Flynn’s hair without even minding the fact that she was being watched by all of them.
"Well I bribed all of you so why are you all pointing at me?" Flynn calmly replied, snapping everyone’s gaze away from Ivelia.
However, upon seeing that they still wanted detailed explanations, the youth gave them a short summary of what he had actually done.
"Fine…" Flynn began.
"Well, the rules never stated that anyone couldn’t switch over to the other side"
"It only gave assigned roles initially. It never implied for anyone to stick with their roles"
"Considering that was the case, I just proposed a far better offer, and a far easier one to all three of you than what you’d get from the sudden exercise even if you won…"
"Now I wasn’t completely sure you’d all respond to my offers but I guess you all figured I was quite serious about it"
"It does take either a mad person or a desperate one to text you a message in between a serious battle…"
"Lucky me I guess…" Flynn concluded, his tone casual, almost as if he had said something completely natural.
The other youths around him though, just stared at him while wondering how exactly what he had done had been as a result of luck.

"Don’t stress yourself wondering about his words guys. Ask Flynn what he thinks about what he just did and he’ll just give you a confused look instead" Aiden said to all the youths currently staring at Flynn strangely.
Ivelia however upon hearing Flynn’s words, lightly tapped on his hair which she had been stroking, almost as if requesting for his attention.
"Yeah Ivelia?" he asked her without turning his head backwards, his slates still carrying the young lady.
"So that means your credits are currently lower than mine?" she asked calmly, her lively expression returning to her face.
"Yes…" Flynn replied.
"Which means I actually won our bet?!" she asked again with even more enthusiasm.
"Well technically I did win but literally, I lost…" he responded, after which he then added with a slight smile.
"But yeah, you actually did win…"
Ivelia in response to this, had her expression transform into a completely gleeful one, much to everyone’s confusion asides Flynn himself, Caroline, Ivar and Aiden who had knowing smiles on their faces.
As the cadets continued discussing about other things though, a peculiar adult male gazed down at all of them through the window of his office which was situated on the top floors of the academy’s main building, his expression thoughtful.
’Hmmm… not bad, but… they can always be better…’ Darius thought to himself while staring at the cadets of his assigned class.
’Guess I’ll begin their training tomorrow then…’
