The next two days following Aiden and Flynn completion of Novier’s quest, something very weird kept happening to them.

They were constantly sleeping whenever they got the chance.

No, it would have been more accurate to say that their bodies were forcefully putting them into a state of slumber whenever it got the chance.

At times, they would even end up dozing off at random moments.

It’s not like they were actually tired by any means, but it was more as if all the fatigue from when they fought the giant Kraugr had caught up to them.

But even then, constantly sleeping and dozing off at intermittent intervals for two whole days just felt… very strange to say the least, even if mana exhaustion seemed to be the main culprit for their current state.

As a result, despite knowing that mana exhaustion was the reason for their states of sleepiness, Aiden and Flynn also figured that it was probably also as a result of the other events that had happened to them, specifically the astral plane.

Although they weren’t particularly sure about what exactly it did and was doing to them, they decided not to think too much about it since they couldn’t even understand what was happening anyway.

That being said though, the events that happened within those two days definitely put all of their friends in a constant state of alert.

Sunday, just the day after they had completed the quest, and after also using half of their morning to sleep, both brothers had woken up due to hunger.

Reaching their dorm’s living room, Aiden had slumped on the chair just beside Caroline, seemingly trying to stay awake.

The ruby-eyed lady had just kept staring at the youth, amused by his struggle to keep himself awake. She had found it quite cute to say the least.

Flynn on the other hand, after being asked by Ivelia if he wanted to eat a small snack while she prepared something for both he and Aiden to eat, he had affirmatively answered and proceeded to seat by the kitchen’s counter, also struggling to stay awake.

Ivelia and Caroline, although they had been exceedingly worried the previous night they had seen them all battered up, had been calmed down considerably by both brothers after they had explained to both of them that it wasn’t anything to be bothered over.

They, along with the Beatrice and Amelia had been genuinely shocked however, to hear that they had reached the fifth floor of the crystal caverns, a level that should’ve impossible for first years to get to.

Now struggling to stay awake on the sofa, Aiden had finally succumbed to sleep and ended up sliding his head onto Caroline’s shoulder, much to the lady’s internal glee.

The black-haired lady had even gone as far as retrieving her mobile phone, a relic that was very rarely used in this day and age and had immediately taken a photo of her and a sleeping Aiden.

’Kyaa! So freaking precious! Definitely my new wallpaper!’ she had inwardly exclaimed to herself with a girlish squeal.

Ivelia on the other hand was genuinely worried because Flynn, instead of eating the huge chunk of cake she had given him, had dozed off and slumped his head onto it instead, ruining the cake.

Adrian and Bryan who had been in the living room too at the time, couldn’t help but release a bit of laughter at Flynn’s situation.

Although they were also a bit worried about he and Aiden’s state, while also knowing the cause of it was probably due to mana exhaustion because they had reached the last floor of the caverns as Ivar had informed them, they had still found the situation Flynn had unknowingly set himself up for to be a tad bit hilarious.

The orange-haired lady though, had immediately rushed over to him while wiping off the icing of cake smudges all over his face but even then, the youth still kept sleeping.

Their napping montages surely didn’t end there however.

In the afternoon, despite promising Ivar, Bryan and Adrian that they would spar with them, they were nowhere to be found at the sparring grounds when the time arrived.

Searching around the house, Adrian had found Aiden asleep on the staircase, seemingly on his way to come to the sparring grounds.

"What the hell…" he had muttered in absolute confusion.

Flynn on the other hand had been found napping on Ivelia’s laps in the garden, the lady motioning to both Ivar and Bryan not to make a noise with a single finger placed on her rosy lips.

She had then explained quietly to them that she had asked for him to help out with procuring some plants in the small garden and before she knew what was going on, she had met him sleeping on the garden’s soft grass.

The entirety of the day continued with scenarios like that of Flynn and Aiden constantly sleeping, all their friends hoping that by Monday, they would fare far better.

Monday came and well…

It was even worse.

They continuously kept dozing off in class, much to all the cadets and their instructor’s utter surprise who knew that there was no way Flynn and Aiden who were model students in their own right, would purposely do anything of such without an underlying reason.

Darius had eventually requested for both of them after the class and after hearing that they had also reached the last floor of the caverns in just over two weeks of getting to the academy, was quite surprised by their feat.

Pushing that aside though, he had requested for both of them to go to the clinic to have themselves checked after surmising on his own that they must’ve overexerted themselves to reach the last floor, hence were probably suffering from mana exhaustion.

The clinic’s staffs however, found nothing wrong with both of them asides mana exhaustion too, although they were also very much intrigued yet baffled by the constant state of sleepiness the two youths seemed to be in.

After having them take a few more tests, they were then released with a note from the clinic’s doctor to show to the instructor taking their next class, explaining why they had been late to said class.

That however, had ended up being the wrong move as the next class they had was a practical class that a lot of cadets in the class were always looking forward to.

After being enlightened on the ingredients to use by their instructor, the cadets had then been asked to create a low-grade healing potion, much to their excitement.

Considering the cadets were then also grouped into pairs, Aiden and Flynn had ended up being grouped together due to the fact that they were the last to have arrived.

As the cadets went about their way, each making low-grade healing potions that ranged from terrible, to okay, to excellent and then perfect, Flynn and Aiden’s on the other hand… ended up being a far bigger disaster.

Both brothers, had ended up creating a mid-grade explosive potion due to being unable to properly follow the instructions they had been given, an aftereffect of their constant dozing off.

How they had done it, even their instructor fathomed to understand, especially since most of the ingredients present in the lab weren’t even supposed to be mildly dangerous.

But if it had all ended there, maybe things would have fared better for them.

Struggling to not succumb to sleep again, Aiden had tried his best to stay awake but Flynn, had ended up smacking the potion away while slumping onto the counter, resulting in a fairly large explosion in the lab.

This had set up a chain of explosions in the lab filled with chemicals but surprisingly, none of the cadets were hurt.

Turns out, the cadet’s lab coats, despite the cadets themselves seemingly been unaware of it, was enchanted with protective magic, enough to withstand a large explosion.

That being said though, Flynn and Aiden were not allowed to go scot-free this time.

Their instructor, even after he had been shown the note by the two brothers regarding their odd state of being, was adamant on ensuring that they were punished.

Saying something along the lines of ’how it would be unfair if he just let them go despite seemingly almost harming their fellow cadets’, he had issued them a volunteer quest that would benefit all of the first year classes.

A few of the herbs and plants which were originally required of to be procured by the first year cadets for their next class, was given to them instead.

Although the man had also informed them that they could do the quest before next week came, Flynn and Aiden knowing how tight their schedule would be in the coming days, had instead decided to do the quest as soon as possible instead.

Informing Ivar, Caroline, Ivelia, Adrian, Beatrice and Bryan of the punishment they were given, both brothers took to the Whispering Grove to procure said herbs and plants.

Even though they were all wary about leaving the two of them alone considering the weird state they were still in, they also had things that they needed to do so they could only hope that both of them wouldn’t fall asleep on their way to, or in the forest itself.

But then, late afternoon came, almost nearing early evening, and all six youths that the two brothers had informed, soon realized that they had not returned back from the volunteer quest they had seemingly gone to complete.

Without wasting one more moment, all six of them banded together and ventured into the Whispering Grove too.

Apart from being surprised by Derek who was currently taking a nap on his hammock which was gently swaying back and forth, all six of them soon found Aiden and Flynn deeper in the forest, sleeping once again as they had expected.

Flynn had his back rested on one of the ancient wide tree’s trunk while Aiden slept in the shape of the letter ’n’ on of the same tree’s branch, almost like a tired and lazy baby panda.

Just beside Flynn however, were all the plants and herbs they had gone out to gather, indicating that at the very least, they procured what they were tasked with before dozing off again.

With a tired sigh, the boys in their group of six, specifically Ivar and Adrian, picked up Flynn and Aiden respectively and placed them across their shoulders like a sack of potatoes, not before Caroline took another picture though of the sleeping Aiden again with a very mischievous giggle.

Following this, Bryan and the ladies, ended up gently picking up the herbs and plants the two brothers had foraged, taking extra care to preserve the fresh state it was currently still in.

With all that being done, all six youths headed back to their dorm with the two brothers, hoping once again, that they would fare far better by tomorrow.

And so, Tuesday came.

Aiden and Flynn on this day, were bursting with so much energy and vigor, one could sense it from the entirety of their being.

Unknown to them, the mysterious energy they had sensed from Aerion, had now fully settled into their souls after acclimatizing for two days.

But that was something both of them would discover much farther into the future.
