Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain-Chapter 235: Fight
Fenric rolled aside, feeling the wind pressure blast past him. The ground where he’d been standing exploded upward, dirt spraying like shrapnel.
He skidded to his feet.
Shoot while it recovers!
Fenric loosed the arrow.
It streaked forward—
—struck the Orc’s shoulder—
—pierced the skin—
But only a little.
The Orc roared, more angry than hurt.
Seraphina called out sharply:
"Good shot, but aim for the weak points! Joints, throat, or the water sacs behind the collarbone! Bluewater Orcs store mana there!"
Fenric nodded quickly.
"Got it!"
The Orc barrelled toward him again.
Fenric ran, weaving between trees, staying just far enough away that the Orc couldn’t reach him—but close enough to keep it focused.
His breath was heavy. His hands trembled.
I can’t outrun it forever... I need to finish this.
The Orc leapt toward him with surprising agility.
Fenric twisted, sliding under a fallen branch, and spun around—drawing another arrow.
He fired.
This one hit home.
The arrow sank deep beneath the Orc’s collarbone—directly into the mana sac.
Blue water-mana sprayed out like a mist.
The Orc stumbled, muscles spasming from the loss of energy.
Fenric saw the opening.
He drew his last arrow, whispered, "Please... hit," and fired with everything he had.
THUMP.
The arrow pierced the creature’s throat.
The Bluewater Orc staggered... then crashed to the ground with a heavy, wet thud.
Silence filled the forest.
Fenric stood there panting, bow still raised, heart pounding in disbelief.
"I... I did it."
Seraphina stepped forward, pride in her eyes.
"Yes," she said softly. "You did."
Liana exhaled shakily. "I can’t believe that worked."
Spunky barked triumphantly
Seraphina knelt beside the Orc’s body and placed her hand over its chest. A soft blue glow rose from the corpse, forming into a smooth, crystal-like core the size of a fist.
She held it up to Fenric.
"Your first step toward becoming a true Aura Warrior."
She placed the Water Core into his hands.
"Let’s begin your Aura Circle Refinement."
Fenric hesitated, then swallowed.
"I think... let me at least try a higher-ranking core first."
He gently returned the blue crystal. It pulsed faintly—like a heartbeat, as all beast cores did.
Seraphina stared at him, eyes narrowing with a mixture of irritation and concern.
"...Alright," she said slowly. "But don’t say I didn’t warn you."
She pocketed the Water Core and motioned for him to follow.
They walked deeper into the forest, eventually arriving at a second location—a large, fortified encampment. The air here was heavier, and faint traces of mana crackled through the trees.
"This time," Seraphina said, "I didn’t lure anything out for you. If you want a high-ranked core, you’ll have to fight the beast directly and without tricks."
She raised her hand and pointed.
At the center of the camp stood a massive orc, far larger and more imposing than the Bluewater Orc from before. Tattoos of ocean tides covered its arms. Strange beads and shells hung from its neck. Its staff crackled faintly with blue runes.
Fenric’s face went pale.
Seraphina continued:
"This is a Sea Orc Shaman.
They can use magic—and powerful magic at that."
She looked Fenric dead in the eye.
"And because it’s a magic-type beast, it’s a bad matchup for you. Archers are weak against ranged spellcasters."
Fenric stiffened. "...So why bring me here?"
"Because," she said calmly, "you insisted on trying a high-rank core."
She exhaled.
"As long as you can stop it from chanting, you can win. But if it completes even a single spell—Fenric, you will die."
Fenric felt his mouth go dry.
Seraphina pointed again.
"And for the record—this Sea Orc Shaman is Level 71."
He nearly choked. "Se-Seventy-one!?"
"Yes. So work hard," Seraphina said flatly.
Liana whispered from behind a tree, "Fenric... I think you made a mistake..."
Fenric exhaled shakily, gripping his bow.
"...Too late now."
"You shouldn’t have brought me here if you wanted me to back off," Fenric said, tightening his grip. "Because I never back off, no matter what."
Seraphina shot him a sharp look—then sighed and nodded.
"Fine. Then listen carefully."
She pointed at the camp.
"This camp has over thirteen Bluewater Orcs. You’ll have to kill them all.
The Shaman can sense the orcs and can make them twice as strong using Water Blessings."
Fenric swallowed.
"So your first goal," she said, narrowing her eyes, "is to clear his army."
She paused—and then admitted:
"And earlier... I lied."
Fenric blinked. "What?"
"You do not have a bad matchup against the Shaman in a direct duel.
But you also have a very good matchup against any spellcaster."
She pointed at Fenric’s bow.
"Your arrows are fast. Faster than chant spells.
As long as you keep him from chanting, he cannot use magic."
Fenric nodded slowly, confidence returning.
"And additionally," Seraphina continued, "you’re small, quick, and light. You can dodge his spells more easily than a swordsman could."
She tapped his chest.
"You also have movement skills. Use them."
Her tone hardened again.
"Your task:
Kill the thirteen Bluewater Orcs quickly.
Keep the Shaman from chanting.
Do not let him finish a single spell."
Fenric raised his bow.
"Got it."
Seraphina stepped back.
"Then begin."
Fenric rolled his shoulders and whispered to himself:
"...Alright. Let’s snipe."
Two Bluewater Orcs stood on the wooden watchtowers, scanning the forest.
Fenric breathed in, raised his bow, and focused.
A thin, shimmering blue string appeared on the bow.
A translucent arrow formed—its tip glowing gold like a tiny sun.
He drew the arrow back.
Steady... steady...
He aimed at the first orc’s head.
Release.
The arrow left his bow with a soft whip—then instantly became a golden streak of light.
Before the Bluewater Orc even understood what was happening, the arrow pierced cleanly through his eye.
The orc froze for half a heartbeat.
Then his body slumped forward.
He fell off the tower without making a single sound.
Fenric exhaled slowly.
Fenric exhaled slowly.
"...One."
Seraphina’s eyes narrowed in surprise.
"That was... precise."
Fenric was already aiming at the second orc.
