Chapter 238: Aura

Seraphina watched him closely.

"Now," she said, "move your Aura without using the system."

Fenric hesitated. "Without... any help at all?"

"Yes," she replied. "No prompts. No guidance. No automatic correction."

She lowered her staff slightly. "True Aura Masters do not rely on external systems. They feel, adjust, and control everything themselves."

Fenric took a slow breath.

He stopped listening for anything outside.

No system voice.

No invisible assistance.

Just his body.

And the Aura inside it.

At first, the Aura wavered.

The golden-blue shimmer around him flickered.

Fenric frowned and focused harder—not forcing it, but guiding it, the way Seraphina had taught him during refinement.

Slow.

Smooth.

Like water flowing around stone.

The Aura settled.

It moved where he wanted it to move.

Seraphina’s eyes sharpened. "Good. That’s the difference."

She stepped forward.

"System-assisted users let power move them," she continued. "Aura Masters move the power."

Fenric nodded, sweat forming on his brow.

Seraphina suddenly vanished from where she stood.

Fenric’s instincts screamed.

He shifted his Aura toward his legs.

Just a little.

Enough.

He stepped aside.

A blur passed where his head had been a moment earlier.

Seraphina reappeared behind him, staff stopping inches from his back.

"...You felt it," she said.

Fenric exhaled. "Barely."

"But you did," she said. "Again."

She attacked this time.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Constant pressure.

Fenric didn’t block.

He moved.

Each step guided by Aura.

Each shift balanced.

No wasted strength.

When her staff came down, he reinforced his arms.

When she swept low, he lightened his legs.

He wasn’t reacting anymore.

He was adjusting.

After several exchanges, Seraphina stopped.

Fenric nearly stumbled—but caught himself.

She studied him in silence.

"You’re not copying techniques," she said. "You’re listening to your Aura."

Fenric wiped his forehead. "It feels like... it’s telling me where to go."

"That’s correct," Seraphina replied. "Aura is not a tool. It is part of you."

She straightened. "Most people never learn this. They depend on systems, skills, or brute force."

She looked at him directly.

"If the system disappears one day, they become weak."

Fenric clenched his fists.

"But you," she continued, "will not."

She raised her staff again.

"One last test," she said. "I will release pressure."

Fenric’s eyes widened slightly. "How much?"

"Enough," she answered.

Her Aura flared.

The air grew heavy.

Fenric felt it immediately—like standing underwater.

His knees bent slightly.

"Don’t resist," Seraphina said calmly. "Flow."

Fenric closed his eyes.

He guided his Aura outward.

Not against hers.

Around it.

The Water Core responded.

His Aura Circle rotated faster—smooth, controlled.

The pressure eased.

Seraphina slowly lowered her Aura.

When it was gone, Fenric was still standing.

Breathing hard—but standing.

Seraphina nodded once.

"...You passed."

Fenric opened his eyes. "That was just the first circle."

"Yes," she said. "Which means your foundation is strong."

She turned away.

"From now on, we train Aura mastery, not just strength."

Fenric straightened his posture.

"I’m ready."

Seraphina did not answer right away.

She walked a few steps, then stopped and turned back to him.

"Being ready is not enough," she said. "From now on, you must be careful."

Fenric listened closely.

"Your Aura is smooth," she continued. "Too smooth for someone with only one circle. That means your growth will be fast, but fast growth breaks weak bodies."

Fenric nodded. "So I need to strengthen my body too."

"Yes," Seraphina said. "Every day. No skipping."

She pointed to the ground. "First lesson after today: Aura separation."

Fenric blinked. "Separation?"

"You learned how to spread Aura through your whole body," she explained. "Now you must learn how to move it to only one place without leaking."

She stepped forward and tapped his shoulder lightly.

"Put all your Aura here. Nowhere else."

Fenric focused.

At first, his Aura spread out by habit.

Seraphina shook her head. "No. That wastes energy."

Fenric tried again.

Slowly, the Aura pulled back from his legs and chest, gathering in his shoulder.

His arm felt warm. Heavy.

The rest of his body felt normal.

Seraphina nodded. "Good. That is control."

She struck his arm lightly with the staff.

The wood cracked.

Fenric’s eyes widened. "It didn’t hurt."

"Because you placed the Aura correctly," she said. "If your Aura was spread thin, your bones would feel it."

She stepped back.

"This skill keeps you alive."

Fenric swallowed. "Understood."

Seraphina continued. "Next comes endurance. You will hold Aura separation while moving, fighting, and being hit."

Fenric grimaced slightly. "That sounds painful."

"It is," she replied calmly.

She looked at the sky. The sun was starting to rise. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Training ends here for now," she said. "Your body needs rest after first refinement."

Fenric relaxed slightly.

"But tonight," she added, "you will meditate for two hours. No system. Just Aura."

Fenric nodded. "I can do that."

Seraphina turned to leave, then paused.

"One more thing."

Fenric looked up.

"If you ever feel your Aura slipping out of control," she said seriously, "you stop immediately. Do not push."

He nodded. "I won’t."

She studied him for a moment longer.

"...Good."

Seraphina walked away.

Fenric stood there alone, breathing slowly.

He placed a hand over his chest.

The Aura Circle was still there.

Turning.

Steady.

He didn’t feel powerful.

He felt... balanced.

And for the first time, he understood what Seraphina meant.

This wasn’t about gaining power.

It was about not losing himself while growing stronger.

Fenric stayed where he was for a few more minutes.

He focused on his breathing, just like Seraphina taught him.

In.

Out.

The Aura inside his chest moved gently with each breath.

No pressure.

No rush.

After a while, he finally relaxed his shoulders and headed back toward the village.

People were already awake.

Some were training.

Some were cooking.

Some were repairing tools.

Life felt... normal.

Liana spotted him first.

She walked over with Spunky trotting beside her. "So?" she asked. "Did you survive?"

Fenric nodded. "Barely."

Liana looked him over. "You don’t look injured."

"I’m not," Fenric said. "But I’m tired in a strange way."

She frowned. "Aura tired?"

"Yeah," he replied. "Like my mind worked harder than my body."

Liana nodded slowly. "That’s how real training starts."

They walked together.

Fenric noticed something strange.

People were glancing at him more than before.

Not fear.

Not hostility.

Curiosity.

He lowered his Aura instinctively.

Liana noticed. "Seraphina told you not to hide it during training, not all the time."
