Extra's Guide to Surviving a Dark Fantasy World-Chapter 60: Betrayal-4
"I’ll be taking this for now."
Saying so, I began attaching it to my missing leg. Damn it, out of all things missing a limb had never been a part of the plan.
Once I was done, I slowly stood up, making sure to keep my balance.
It was a little long considering our height difference, but all in all, it was pretty good considering I wouldn’t need it once I got out of the Wastes.
"Now then." I took out the blade and brought my attention back to Tess and Aria.
"It’s time to honor our agreement." I looked at Tess. "Remember the commission you gave me when we first met in that room."
Tess eyes slowly widened in realization.
"If I have to choose to save a life between yours and hers, I choose hers. Remember?"
"I was originally going to kill both of you for betraying me, but considering how your mistress stood up for me a minute ago, albeit for the wrong reason, I am willing to follow through on my promise. Unless you want to take it back, of course."
Hearing my question Tess shook a little, her eyes moving on towards Aria who herself was looking at me with fear in her eyes.
Gazing at Aria for the last time, Tess closed her eyes as a single teardrop fell on her cheek.
That was enough of an answer; nodding to myself, I stepped forward and stabbed my blade right into Tess’s forehead, killing her in one strike.
Blood began gushing out like a fountain out of her head, turning into a puddle beneath my feet, going further and staining Aria’s face. This was the first human I had ever killed with my own two hands.
Yet I felt nothing sure I had seen my fair share of gruesome things as Roye, and sure, she had tried to kidnap and kill me, but...
I felt disappointed for some reason, I didn’t knew if it was the side effect of Khaldrin taking over my body but all I felt was emptiness, the world seemed colorless, devoid of all emotions and I felt as if I had simply ran an errand.
"Umf Amf." A sudden struggling voice pulled me out of my thoughts; turning to my side, I saw the paralyzed figure of Aria shaking in rage, tears falling from her eyes as she tried desperately to get up and fight.
Should I kill her as well?
Another thought popped up in my mind the moment I saw her expression. If I left her like this, she was sure to make things difficult for me in the future.
No.
Whatever her reason might have been, she had tried to protect me back then. If things hadn’t gone the way I had planned, she would have currently been fighting for my life.
Besides I needed her for the future. Almost of the plot of the novel might have changed and become irrelevant, but there were certain things that I desperately needed her help for.
Besides, despite her suspicions it wasn’t like she knew who I was. The only way she could identify me was if I used my powers in front of her. Something that I was already planning to hide in front of the world until I became stronger.
This incident had been a huge wake-up call. I might have been a prince once, but right now, I was nothing more than a random hunter, mercenary, or whatever you call it.
Showing my bloodline to the world while still being this weak was only going to put me in more trouble than it was worth.
If, after that, she still proved to be a nuisance, then plot or not, I would simply get rid of her.
Deciding so, I stepped over her and slowly made my way towards the control panel.
"This is a bit complicated," I muttered to myself while slowly going through the controls one by one, trying to understand what they did by reading their signs.
In the end, it didn’t take a lot of time to figure out the controls. Once I had done so I activated the port. The crystal at the end of the panel glowed brightly as the port began to move, the ships shuffling one by one until the one in front pulled forward, falling into the crimson river.
How the hell was this thing even working, I had no idea. Not that I cared that much either, afterall, I was finally going home.
Taking a deep breath, I turned towards Aria, who was still glaring at me, her eyes filled with resentment.
"The poison should lose its effectiveness in the next hour or so; until then, try not to fall and accidentally drown in the blood. Also, don’t use any of the healing supplies anymore."
Saying so, I turned around and slowly began making my way to the ship, all the while making sure I didn’t stumble and lose balance.
The ship was what you would expect a lighter version of a ship would look like, with broken sails on the top and being able to carry no more than twenty people, it stood over a couple of feet away from the port waiting for me to jump in the water and climb over it.
Considering the issue, I had no choice but to once again enlist the help of the demon I had just recruited. Thankfully, I had recovered enough mana.
A towering figure rose out of my shadow and stood behind me in an imposing way. It then without missing a beat gently picked me up and jumped over the ship. The ship shook from the sudden movement but eventually calmed down as I dismissed the demon.
Yeah, I had to deal with this guy too.
I took another deep breath and walked over inside the ship, eventually making my way to what I was assuming was the command center. Once again it took me a couple of minutes of looking around before the ship began moving, slowly leaving the port sailing out of the Wastes.
This was it. I looked back to take one last look at Sarhina. This place once might have been the jewel of the dominion, but I never wanted to step foot in this place again.
"Absolutely never." Mumbling to myself, I sat down on the floor, my eyes threatening to shut off in exhaustion.
I could finally have some rest now. I muttered before allowing my eyes to close shut.
As for the ship, it continued forward, sailing out of the Wastes and taking me home.
